Gentlemen of the most honourable MOM thread,

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Simmo. I am old soldier with considerable experience and many war stories to tell. Since being introduced to Dogfight by one of my kids a couple of months ago, I have spent many happy hours being shot to pieces by Wig, Shoe, Bopes and others whilst slowly learning the ropes. I believe I have by now reached the point where I may be of service to you.

I would up your karma to celebrate you making your first post on the dogfight forum even though there's psychopaths like me (most people are ok, me included, once you get to know us ;) ), but, I already altered someone's karma a few hours ago, so, here's a thank you instead :cheer:

Thank you Oedius. By the way, here's a true story: a very long time ago I passed selection for helicopter pilot training with the British Army. Well, After just two weeks I was sent packing back to the infantry. In fact I was so bad that I was lucky to keep my driver's licence!

...to any and all I encountered during the Sunday DF games I would like to apologize (not really) for the devastatingly positive edge I received (earned?) from lag...it was my first experience of the joy of having jet pack and time warp powers all wrapped up in a sweet itttle ball. While I am sure this will likely be the last time I have this advantage I just wanted all to know that I was humbled by the experience and would never abuse my super powers should this become a regular occurence (would that it could!) Brings to mind the old adage warning of absolute power....not that I would ever use that for noob slashing number grubbing... B) ;)

Suggestion for MOMs to keep an eye out for a pilot flying as Danielle...mad , murderous skills despite low rank. Maybe a natural. Have only seen once, but with time may be MOM material... B)

I invited Simmo to drop by so my "in" vote goes without saying. So I said it just then anyway.

Hey Bea to the Tea, you feel like lag is advantageous? I have CLD (Chronic Lag Disorder) and all it does for me is get me butchered by planes I can't see and burn up hundreds of rounds of ammo on point blank kill shots without nicking anyone's mud flaps. Are there different varieties of lag? I get it every day via wifi and 4G. Sometimes I'll pound a grip ton of bullets into a plane, shrug, move on, then a full thirty seconds later the kill is reported onscreen. Other times I beat the bejeebises outta someone H2H, get a dozen confirmed hits, then they snap my neck with a single shot after already having flown well past me. It's enough to make a sleepless old nitwit wonder if he'll ever be able to noob-grub his way to #97.

Bopes, that stupid post you posted made me weep. Feel free to interpret the nature of my tears. In my mind's one good eye I'm kissing your stupid ring. Stupid may well be the new Cute.

. Wigbomb wrote: Sputnik, why would you ask that? Unless...unless you're feeling guilty about something or know a reason why I SHOULD shoot you? Hmm...

Okay, Doghouse, no negative nancifying about it. This is how this anti-system system is supposed to work. So what do we do in this case or others like it? I'd love to see Joe Nailer drop by the thread, introduce himself and address the matter. I spawned into a DF mission once and about half a nanosecond after the game screen appeared BLAM!!! "Wigbomb was brought down by B Strachan".

"Strach, what are you doing, man!?!?"

"tanking"

I'm SO SURE that was an accident and the ONLY time Strach has EVER inadvertently sat in PRECISELY the right spot at the back of a runway then reached over to feed a hungry baby from Indonesia and let his finger slip and hit the fire button. He was filled with remorse for weeks after, whaddya bet?

The point is, for a group that talks a good game about respect and maturity and sportsmanship, and that takes pride in having a no-rules rule book, what are the standards of conduct? Show of hands: who here hasn't spawn killed, "tanked", "invisible soldiered" on a carrier? I'm hoping a lot of hands went up but mine didn't.

The "Board of Admissions" is largely a joke, we all know it. Everyone votes, everyone has a voice. If Doghouse has a lengthy history of negative experiences with Joe, Joe needs to clear it up, or Joe is respectfully declined membership. Yes? Ya listenin', Joe? Drop in and say hi. And Doghouse, even Boang saw the error of his ways and made nice with me after weeks of team killing and foul-mouthed abuse. If that can happen anyone can see the light. (it didn't hurt that my trusty buckarette, Jasmine/420, blew him to smithereens then threatened to have him permanently banned from the game, but sometimes seeing the light requires a little nudge this way or that.) Opinions, please...

Spawn killing with a plane in any game is not a problem, the idea is to win! Spawn killing with a tank in DF is not much fun, in any other game I would see it as helping your team to win, soldier on carrier, well that's just pure fun, after all he can be killed and only has so much ammo and if it were not meant to happen, how come it does.

Hey, MOMs, I am afraid of asking it (something is saying me that I should not make this question, but here is goes):
What is the rule 6??? Only now I figured out that it is not wrote on the MOM's main page...

Pedrinho, in that particular case rule 6 was no shooting at flying muck! And I got away with it, that's the beauty of rule 6.

I'm not sure I will fit in to the squadron's ethos. I am firmly in favour of tanking and spawn killing, ideally both at the same time. Kill or be killed. Do it efficiently. Do it without mercy. Always have a secondary weapon. Sorry.

Wig I get the same thing, found the best way to deal with it is go sit on a mountain top, if you can actually reach one without getting cut to shreds by planes that over took you then flew backwards the overtook you then used their rear gunner to hack you to pieces, then...,.well you know what I mean!

Hi to the entrie universum of MOM,

so to make it formal i would like to apply for membership of MOMs. Currently i'm a 34 year old guy living nearby Frankfurt am Main. I'm a german and i'm living there my whole life. I ever thougt that i'm one of the oldest kids playing dogfight but i noticed that i was wrong with this case. I like the idea of M.O.M very much so i would ask you if i could join. I was invited by SheibeKopf, wig and ktheo at he beginning of August. SheibeKopf already mentioned something a few posts above "player to be named later" :)

A little bit to the story of the thing that i could not reqeust a membership earlier. I joined the 111th squad in June and they gave me a real warm welcome. All of the members there are great guys which are nice to talk to and to fly with. They lost some top 100 players within my two month of membership such pilots like Dentinhead, Yukikaze, h r h k and Air bone and a couple of great pilots like luna6, octavia6, odenius and of course nj devil, oh sorry mean ol' devil :) If i forgot someone to mention here im sorry.

And i didn't like to give them the next "hurt" leaving them until their next election for leadership is over, because i really respect them. They need a time to breath and to gather a bit and therefore i waited with my request to you. The election is over and now back to the point of my posting if someone forgot it :)) : I would like to join MOM can i have your votes please??

PS: Forget the idea that i clean your hangars, planes, cars, uniforms, suits, clothes, rooms, drinking bars etc. ... :)))))

Allan, I don't have a vote, but I would definitely have you on my side. I lived in Germany for four years (Osnabruk and Berlin), and loved it. You people are perfect - friendly, cultured, educated and efficient. As you can see I didn't even need to learn German to have a conversation.

Instant fact: Most Germans speak better English than most Australians.

My favourite girlfriend was from Hannover. That was 28 years ago. Still gives me shivers. Don't tell my wife!

By the way, I will clean the bar and change the barrels. I'm no weakling so you can also put me at the door on Club nights.

I vote IN.

Re Allan and Simmo, that is.

Quite the streak of proper-joining-etiquette lately, eh? Did someone put something in the water?

Re tank spawn killing: it's an annoyance but I don't get too worked up about it.

Actual occurrences lately are few and far between ( at least in my experience). And from a purely objective viewpoint (Spock like, no value judgments, now) it's doable in any game except protect/defend zepp. It aint particularly easy to do, since the doer is usually subjected to immediate rage fury of other players, sometimes from his own team. As a tactic it's most effective in CTC and BTB games, where there's only one re-spawn point. In dogfight matches it's impossible for one TSPK-er to cover all respawn points.
