Paul Mantz, Jr. wrote: A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a St Louis Cardinals fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they were Cardinals fans, too.
Not really knowing what a Cardinals fan was, but wanting to be like their teacher, hands explode into the air. There is, however, one exception. A girl named Mary has not gone along with the crowd.
The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I'm not a Cardinals fan."
"Then," asks the teacher, "what are you?"
"Why I'm proud to be a BOSTON RED SOX fan.", boasts the little girl.
The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She asks Mary why she is a RED SOX fan.
"Well, My Dad and Mom are RED SOX fans, and I'm a RED SOX fan, too!"
The teacher is now angry. "That's no reason," she says loudly. "What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron, What would you be then?"

A pause, and a smile. "Then," says Mary, "I'd be a Cardinals fan."

I heard. I'm just not ready for all that yet. I guess I'd better get ready though.

Don't get me wrong... I enjoy it... But it's rough trucking in, and I spend so much time in hot weather these days, that it just takes some time to adjust.

I was in downtown KC this morning after leaving Edwardsville and I'm in Olathe right now loading. If they ever get done, I've gotta be in TN in the morning. So if they will hurry up, maybe somewhere along the way I'll have time for a shower, meal, and can get a little laundry done. That would help things out immensely.

Jason, you are off the hook. Now I can blame Swop for it being so darn cold this morning. (Ok, it really wasn't that bad, but I was walking around at Disney Saturday drowning in sweat). Swop, it's now officially your fault sir.

WOW,

I have lived and live now in the "South Kansas side"...of Kansas City...Jack. my neck of the woods.

if your heading to Tennessee...then you will be probably heading back to I-70.....let me think of Bar B Q for early dinner late lunch......

this place:/...and they have a place to park your truck...you may need to walk....but WAY worth it....

Arthur Bryants....on 1727 Brooklyn Kansas City...
www.arthurbryantsbbq.com/index.htm

if you go to the freight house district...they have
Jack Stack BBQ on.... 101 W. 22 Street...Kansas City

...this is near Union Station which is close to I-70 off of I-35....they have parking for 18 wheelers.

Both are newar I-70 and I-35 corridor and close to downtown where the highways are.

If you like a spicy BBQ sauce...and see a Gates....just pull into there

THESE are the 3 BEST Kansas City BBQ

a 4th is my absolutely favorite Oklahoma Joes...but there is no place for 18 wheelers for you there.

NOW you are speaking my language Swop! I sadly don't think I'm gonna have time, but I am the worlds biggest bbq nut, and I chase good bbq like Davy chases women. I prefer bbq over women I think, although it's close. Now the wheels in my head are gonna be spinning.

I got sick on Sunday b4 leaving and didn't get my laundry done. I left Monday when any rational idiot should and would have stayed home in bed. Not stupid me though... Anyway, my laundry didn't get done (my wife was also sick, and taking care of our kids who were (you guessed it) sick, so she didn't do it either) and I'm pretty well out of clothes. I'm down to wearing the shirts I keep in here just in case I have to work on the truck or whatever. So, if this place will EVER get done, it's going to be a truckstop for me where I can do all 3 of the aforementioned tasks in the same place.

KC BBQ does sound incredible though.... :silly:

Next time in KC ...account for the BBQ..

Here is my top 4 in the order of my favorite...(you have the url links with addresses already)

1. Oklahoma Joes BBQ [named after the smokers made in Oklahoma.... BBQ not from Oklahoma] (quality of meat and sides VERY good..try the "night of the living sauce" sauce...VERY good)
2. Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ (for "fine dining" BBQ...quality of meat VERY good...sauce is too much like KC Masterpiece which really isnt KC style)
3. Gates BBQ (best sauce in KC, like the spicy sauce.."its all about the sauce in KC"....you should be able to get this at any grocery store)
4. Arthur Bryant's BBQ...(well...just famous cause a bunch of US Presidents ate there...still very good...just not as good as other 3)

It was my stomach. Not a pleasant thing when a bathroom is usually a very long way away.... But I'll take the blame. I have broad shoulders.

Sometime when you come through Knoxville let us know and we will buy you a meal. Breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Next month we are going with a fellow DOGFIGHTER to North Carolina and go to a hockey game between the canes and my beloved ANAHEIM ducks. We are looking forward to meeting him in person and watching our beloved DUCKS kill the canes.

SO IF YOU EVER HAVE TIME TO STOP FOR A MEAL LET US KNOW.
