In your case the info bit isn't really necessary, (actually, for the sake of Chet's sanity in maintaining the roster details, it is) it'd just give us the chance to try out the non-system, i.e. capturing and saving your info in our off-forum group. More of a favor you'll be doing us than anything we still need to know about you.

Again, you just happened to catch us at the moment when we were overloaded and had to hang a "Closed for Remodeling" sign on the door...nothing whatever to do with you. Or the lead in my teeth. Or your frightening banner making skillz.

OK MOMs, it's over. After having my posts taken down by Kane and receiving some very frank off line advice from Wig, I have finally got the message. I must end this nonsense for ever.

I unreservedly apologise for causing offence or annoyance to any member of this Squadron. I apologise for any crass or inadvertantly insulting remarks made by me. I apologise for abusing your hospitality and gate-crashing a discussion thread over which I had no moral or technical ownership. Most of all, I am particularly sorry to anyone who associated my comments with real personal loss or grievance. You will be pleased to know that I have decided to stay away from any forum for the foreseeable future. I am out of here until my good behaviour order expires (You can decide the duration) or there is a natural disaster / terrorist attack / ZZ Top revival / Financial Crisis / whatever, needing my attention.

This is probably a good time to move on anyway. My personal circumstances have changed considerably. After enjoying a rather sedentary few months in the beautiful city of Sydney, my fickle profession has presented me with yet another deployment order. I have my own veiws on the rights and wrongs of this campaign but I will unreservedly play my part to end it. I want to emphasise that Brits, Canadians, Kiwis and Aussies are in this fight too - and we're right there along side the USA for the long haul. If any sandal wearing non-shaver wants to claim American imperialism, send them to me. I will put them straight.

I love this job but I am going to be very busy for the next 12 months. I have begun physical and mental preparation, part of which is to put one's house in order at home. Coop will understand - I bet when you're heading for a big fire you worry more about unfinished human situations that how much it's going to hurt when you fry.

So, MOMs (it took one bottle of wine to get this far - now opening the next) - Please accept my heartfelt apologies. I never meant to offend anyone. If you could at least allow me just one concession - whatever our differences, I have not lied, deceived, bullied or humiliated. I am giving everything to you now. I respect you all and I will never over- step the line again. All I ask is that you acknowledge that I am a man of integrity.

So. All the emotion put of the way, I'm not going to kill myself or change my player name. Simmo will still be in the sky joking and terrorising, but he will not be backed up by Rob and his crazy agenda. Rob is in chains. Simmo has him under control.

Rob, I know exactly were you are coming from the preparation is was really makes it hard its no different in the fire service than it was when I was in the Rangers when you are mentally prepping yourself for a situation that you don't know what the outcome is going to be you think first about what is at the homefront then the task at hand And now with my recent promotion I now have not only worry about my partner and I , I now have a whole crew to worry about just like old times in the desert.so I wish you all the luck my friend and I mean that truly. Disclaimer: Although this may sound a bit political, it's really not intended to convince anyone about who's side is right/wrong/competent/incompetent etc. Its just based on the way I see things.



Anyway, that's a heck of a lot to put out there on a video game chat board... Man, I hope that putting it out there, helps you deal. Too many people have had to do too many tours of this war that no one in our leadership seems to be serious about winning. For that, I'm sorry. I voted for the other guys, although who knows if they would have done any better. All I can say is please know when you are over there, you are not forgotten about. With the last administration, the media gave the blood and guts full coverage every night, thereby not allowing anyone to forget, where with this one, they don't mention it as much. Makes their guy look bad, ya know? The only problem is, out of sight, out of mind. The war doesn't seem to be on as many minds anymore. With that said, many of us are not like that. Especially those like me with a long tradition of military service in our families. (for instance, my grandpa walked through all of the hell that could be dished out in Europe during WWII without a scratch... Always a lucky guy till the day he died (peacefully)) So... Just to let you know, you are appreciated, and I wish you safety and success to you in your travels.

I know nothing about the aforementioned offenses/non offensives and as we say in the South(US), I don't have a dog in that fight.

As for military service, I wish you the best. Stay safe, do your duty and come back better than you left. I was in the US Navy and sent away from home more than I was home. I too was deployed to the gulf during conflict. I understand your plight and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers (or at least the ritualistic animal sacrifices ).

Btw I served 6 months with the Aussie Navy in my time as well. We decommissioned an amphib ship and the US now leases it to Australia. I was on the turnover crew that trained the Aussie crew until they sailed it back down under. It has since been modified into a helo carrier and is now the HMS Kanimbla(sp?).
