Wig, I know that we already discuted it via PM, and I already said that I would not discuss it anymore. But last night I kept thinking about it, and since your PM has a little different tone than the public message you posted, here goes my (this time last) thoughts about that matter:

Like yours they were carefully considered and intelligently presented. Richy's lucid, concise response was enough to sway RB and should be enough to convince anyone in doubt.
I am not as brilliant as Roonie or RichyRoo. And I am too stubborn to be convinced so easyly.

. Wigbomb wrote: In short, you aren't "donating" so much as you are buying something you can't otherwise get. A copy of the game for a fraction of its market value and other incentives upon which I couldn't put a price.
In the case of 1-9 dollars donations, there is no reward; so, it IS a donation, and being it, I believe people should donate this sum to orphanages or alike, instead of donating for a software development group. I am not against pledging to the Elite project. I only believe that there is no point in DONATING 1-9 dollars for nothing.

No. Is it the traditional approach to floating funding or venture capital? No. Does Joaquin plan to take a $125,000 trip around the world? Does he want the suits controlling his labor of love? Do we? No, no and emphatically f*ck no.
OK, but if Z team wants this kind of high-price "investiment", they should hit the correct audience, not us, normal players (except Paul and a few others that can donate 4-5 digits ammount of money). For the great most of us, normal players, the only acceptable "products" are those between 10 and 125 dollars. No cake under 10 bucks, and no cash to spend with gaming above 125 dollars. And think about: if/when Zup get the 125k, he will deliver what he promised, ok; but after that, what will be? From where will he get the money to mantain servers working from then on?

. Wigbomb wrote: Another point I need to stress; no one has "given","donated" or in any way parted with a thing. Not unless and until DF Elite makes its Kickstarter goal. Until that tote board turns over $125k you haven't spent a cent.
This part makes no sense, Wig, sorry to say it. There is no logic in this argument, it won't help people change their mind and begin to pledge. Pledging involves real money; even if it is not being taken right now, the billS WILL be reaching our footsteps soon or later! By making pledges we need to be prudent, so we can't promise what we can't pay! They don't need promises, they need THE MONEY THAT COMES FROM US. Think about it, and you will see that is no point on what you said.

. Wigbomb wrote: I don't know about you but I can't recall having a blast playing hours a day for months on end with a game I got for free. Oh...wait...yes, I can; it was called Dogfight. I downloaded it for exactly zero dollars then had the time of my gaming life playing it for the better part of a year. So yes, there is that customer/vendor relationship we have with Joaquin. He's the vendor who never got paid by me...
I agree, I love this deffective game more than I wish, to the point I am worried about the great amount of time it takes from me!!! But how do you play online with the free version????? As far as I can tell, the free version os only usefull to play practice missions... Correct me if I am wrong, but every single player we meet online payd at least some bucks to get there... (?)

That's the point: Z should ask for monthly contribution to got his well deserved profit and to pay for good servers and all that is needed to make the CURRENT VERSION work. "I need to stress this": even with its current flaws, this current version of the game is played and loved by thousand of us, myself included! I agree with turning it on a more profitable thing for Zup's team, I agree to pay a (low) monthtly fee to play this marvelous deffective piece of mobile software! Think hard about what I am saying, Wig, please! Instead of taking a step up rignt now, Zup should amalgamate the current thing, and perhaps in a year or two, he could make a more stable and reliable endeavour!

. Wigbomb wrote: So no, not "period". I love you, Ped, but nothing is ever "period". (insert inappropriate punchline here)
I need to agree with you on that one. Nothing is "period". Specially in my Attention Deficit Disorder suffering life...

. Wigbomb wrote: On the other hand, the suggestion that Joaquin insert some sort of cannot-be-ignored reminder about DFE into the current game is brilliant. You are so right about how many players are still completely unaware of the new game or the pledge drive. I've already emailed your idea to him. (Maybe not on the side of the zep!) I think there should be a screen before the main game screen...right after the Echoboom Apps logo screen...with a brief DFE promo and link to the kickstarter page. That way, as you said, everyone will know about the new game and the urgent need for support.
On the other other hand...thanks for upping your pledge, mister man. Even through your own haze of doubt you manage somehow to do the right thing. I may start referring to each of these instances as a RAP. (Random Acts of Ped)
Thanks again. It looks like there is a radical update on the servers, because yesterday I tried to play and, for the first time ever, I couldn't play using the previous version. And didn't update yet because I was under 3G, no wifi nearby...
And about RAPs, thanks for the explanation on that PM, I was geting worried about it... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
Just one last thing: when you refer to "doing the right thing", take in mind that what is right for "A" isn't always right for "B". I'm not Spike Lee. I am just a man that is BUYING SOMETHING IN ADVANCE, not "donating".
So, just one more "R.A.P.":
DON'T DONATE LESS THAN 10 BUCKS, GUYS. GO "BUY" THE ELITE $ 10 VERSION RIGHT NOW, AND LETS SHOW THEM THAT WE REALLY ENJOY LOOKING SILLY BY WAVING OUR PHONES OVER OUR HEADS IN PUBLIC!
