Have to ask Paul to know for sure Ped. I think they will have to rename this thing. EchoPaul apps or PaulMantz Elite.

OK, Wig. You didn't convince me about "helping" a developer to acquire funds for a software development. I strongly believe that donations need to go to charity institutions, like children care or alike. As I said on some early posts, I already do it here in Brazil every month, with little donations, despite being myself a poor man. So, no "donation", no "charity", no "help" for DF Elite. Period. I still share the same theory, the same opinion and the same "tone" of DIESEL about this matter. We are customers, and Z is the vendor. Period.

BUT (and my wife loves these "BUTs" of mine during my "sermons"), after those PMs we trade, I feel in need to spread the word, at least. Then here I am, telling noobs that they can, and should, pledge at least 10 bucks for DF Elite.

I am one of the first 10 people that pledged. I am the second one that pledged 25 bucks. Correcting my words: I PAID 25 bucks for what I hope would be a good and enjoyable game.

BUT (ouch, here comes another but), considering the fact that my brain is hard and my pocket is empty, but my heart is exceedingly soft, I decided to raise my pledge to a $99 one - I repeat: I'm not donating! I'm BUYING that special airplane to shoot you standard-plane-noobs down! (hard part is have to pay 15 bucks for oversea shipment...)

Almost forgot to mention....

Confirmed MOMposter buzzing around. Goes by the name DOGGING. I asked him about it, explained he had to go thru forum and that a lot of grief would come his way if he keep flying the tag.

Here's his response.

Another thing: a huge ammount of DF players aren't aware of this kickstart project, even being it exaustively discuted here on this forum. Some of pledgers are spreading the word during playtime, but it's hard to explain the thing during fights to noob and rookies.

So, here goes a little idea. If I were Zup, I would make an update version of the current game, just to put a big permanent floating advertise over the horizon, on the zep's and carrier's bodies, on the bridge, etc...

A second idea: give to some players that pledge at least 5 bucks a SHINY NEW PLANE IN THE CURRENT VERSION OF THE GAME.
Edit: Lets imagine it! what about seeing a noob carrying two bombs, or flying faster than you, just because he made a pledge? Higly "motivational", huh? ;) )

(I know that this involves hard work, but hey, who in this world think that earning money is easy besides Hollywoodians?)

I took the RED PILL!

I think some of you may want to read Joaquin's and Paul's Post to each other on The Dogflight elite thread.....
Bobbysox made a very good point of outcome possibilities...
Their conversation to me was about more than Paul's donation...

I donate what I can how I feel. and give when needed (if possible)..... I try to do what I can and know I can never fix it all....

I don't know how to link the thread, but go to Dogfight Elite: The next level. We need your help!
start on post 90613 and follow thru.... Let me know what you think..... ;)

Fireside Chat Time! Set fire to someone and sit alongside him/her while you savor the flavor of too many words:

First and foremost...M.O.M is the proud...uh...MOM...of a brand new Hawaiian MORAF: congratulations, Blobularz! If ever a stripey zebra plane was deserved, yours is it, Simon. Hope you celebrated with a lei...

___________

Ped, I still think you're missing the point; re-read Richy's response to Ronnie Biggs. Mr. Biggs made anti-pledge drive points similar to yours. Like yours they were carefully considered and intelligently presented. Richy's lucid, concise response was enough to sway RB and should be enough to convince anyone in doubt.

In short, you aren't "donating" so much as you are buying something you can't otherwise get. A copy of the game for a fraction of its market value and other incentives upon which I couldn't put a price. Designing your own mission! Your name or that of your company on a permanent landmark (billboard, side-of-a-barn, sheep) within the game! Is it a conventional business model? No. Is it the traditional approach to floating funding or venture capital? No. Does Joaquin plan to take a $125,000 trip around the world? Does he want the suits controlling his labor of love? Do we? No, no and emphatically f*ck no.

Another point I need to stress; no one has "given","donated" or in any way parted with a thing. Not unless and until DF Elite makes its Kickstarter goal. Until that tote board turns over $125k you haven't spent a cent.

I don't know about you but I can't recall having a blast playing hours a day for months on end with a game I got for free. Oh...wait...yes, I can; it was called Dogfight. I downloaded it for exactly zero dollars then had the time of my gaming life playing it for the better part of a year. So yes, there is that customer/vendor relationship we have with Joaquin. He's the vendor who never got paid by me and I'm one of the tens of thousands of consumers who have enjoyed the bejesus out of the product of his hard work and who've yet to receive his invoice.

So no, not "period". I love you, Ped, but nothing is ever "period". (insert inappropriate punchline here)

On the other hand, the suggestion that Joaquin insert some sort of cannot-be-ignored reminder about DFE into the current game is brilliant. You are so right about how many players are still completely unaware of the new game or the pledge drive. I've already emailed your idea to him. (Maybe not on the side of the zep!) I think there should be a screen before the main game screen...right after the Echoboom Apps logo screen...with a brief DFE promo and link to the kickstarter page. That way, as you said, everyone will know about the new game and the urgent need for support.

On the other other hand...thanks for upping your pledge, mister man. Even through your own haze of doubt you manage somehow to do the right thing. I may start referring to each of these instances as a RAP. (Random Acts of Ped)
_____________

The M.O.M Flights project is still underway. Shut up, I'm serious! This other little April distraction cropped up and has been siphoning off my spare time and attention, but I should have a handful of Flight insignia posted here soon as well as a list of the Flight names. All subject to your approval, natcherly.
_____________

For those not already aware, I have a new DF hobby and it has its own acronym: (this Flights project has me acronyming everything)

S.T.A.B.: Surface To Air BWAHAHAHA

When you see me in a tank, please do attempt to destroy me. The highlights reel so far:

2 other tanks, 2 airborne planes, 3 hangars...all from one tank

3 airborne planes...all from one tank

2 airborne planes...both from one tank shell (this I refer to as the Moe Slap)

Who knew you could have so much fun crawling along like a pot metal three legged dung beetle?

On the short list of deadliest dogfighters in Dogfight has to be mschumacher. Last night his bantering chops were as funny as his bullets weren't. Every time a player typed, "gtg, bye." mschu replied, "I love you." This from a very nice chap who generally doesn't chat a lot. It so flummoxed some of these li'l fellers that they didn't leave, they had to know why! Crack-up moments like that can make getting shredded by the guy almost palatable. I'd pledge for that aspect of DF alone.
