M.O.M squad page fell off the front page of recents? Hell no!

Been in the woods with a 80 or cubs scouts and their families all weekend. Back to civilization now. Cooked another pig while we out and it was mighty fine!

120lb porker and only about 8 pounds of BBQ left over.
Fuck this place. Second rate hack playing in a yard that's too big for him.

Reckless? Is that you?

And Ghostrider, I also have yet to reach 100 kills in one game. Actually, I have not topped 80. Congrats!

M.O.M Ed Latts Busts a MORAFian Move!

From the Hattan that is Man to the Island that is not Short, congratulations on M.O.MORAFing it, Mr. L!

Can a tastefully funny-in-the-pants-feeling making banner be far off? Nope, she can't.

And having said all that, I don't know that Ed ever bothers with the forum so be sure to rain laurels and junk on him when you see him with his brand spanky new rank. And tell him we and our pants are all about to have a burning interest in him posting here regularly from tomorrow or thereabouts on.

Everyone:
As I type, there is an "oversensitive victims anonymous" meeting occurring in World Chat. The totally unbiased special guest speakers include Royal Flush, Swop, Coop, Spitfire, and Whiplash.
Hot topics include Cricket's inability to read a map (as told by Whiplash for the 134,582nd time); the fact that insults in any way, however delivered (including the world chat function on an aviation battle simulator) are evil, disgusting, and wrong, even if they are, admittedly, completely sarcastic; gloating about Cricket's favorite sports teams losing today; and what great people everyone there in chat are.
Bring liberal amounts of whine to drink, and prepare to stfu-ff yourself with french cries. Don't overeat, though, or you might find yourself on the wahmbulance.
All proceeds from the meeting will go to research for a new skin-thickening cream, by Johnson and Johnson.

I'll be supplying screenshots as I get them. See you there.

Mac.

Thanks for reminding us that not everyone is an adult. At least the in game experience is fast paced enough to minimize the drama. Brian and Poc need to do a Waaaaaaahhhhhhmbulance run on these poor victims. As the resident lawman, my advice would simply be to toughen up. Hopefully our medics will run an IV of Ringers with some STFU in a 6 guage needle. I would take that treatment if I had Dixie from Emergency 51 whispering with her smoker's rasp in my ear...

This is why I love Mac. This and the "gay" thing. (which was never intended to be squarely in the realm of a personal "insult", I guess.)

Swop types, I laugh. It's like a quantum non-locality effect. Still, the biggest laugh in that exchange? "hi whiplashed".

The head of ABC News/Talk radio used to send me hilarious notes whenever a listener wrote to complain about something I'd said on the air. The funniest one by far was when I'd produced a piece and we received only positive feedback.

"Rick, you're slipping."

The general wisdom in the media is that only the people with nothing better to do have the time or the interest to bitch. The other people, the ones you care about reaching, can't be bothered, they have lives. You can loosely measure your receptive audience by extrapolating percentages from the number of crackpot complaints you get.

Congratulations Cricket and Mac, you're a hit!

It's too quiet in here. Not enough music on the thread lately, and while I know I don't swap sounds as often as some M.O.Ms I'm gonna make amends. Ever get one of those "What's on Your iPod Shuffle Play Right Now" polls on Facebook or elsewhere? Here comes the M.O.M Variation:

Name That Tune That's Boring a Groove in Your Skull

Doesn't have to be your favorite song (but it can be) or a song you think is brilliant (but brilliant is...y'know...brilliant) and ideally it won't be a song you just snatched outta the ether...tell the mob the song that's most recently jammed itself into your head and refused/refuses to vacate.

List more than one if you have multiple earworms, like everything else in M.O.M they ain't no rules.

Here's mine, a newish track by one of my favorite bands. This one goes out to The Mighty bLoB, I suspect you'll see why...

Post a clip of your earworm if you can, just hit us with a title and artist if you can't. I'm looking forward to learning what you lot are listening to that nobody else can hear.

As Shake-speare said, "If music be the food of M.O.M, play on."

p to the s:

if you don't suffer from earworms, screw it...go ahead and post your favorite song(s). Who's gonna know?

The majority of my shuffle playlist consists of either tunes from even your childhoods, or the strangest, most out-of-spotlight music possible. I also have a weakness for some outlaw country music. Jennings, Cash, Nelson, and Kristofferson are my favorites. Nevertheless, I'll spare you the Croce, and instead post a song by a small-time personality I've always liked, feat. my favorite internet entertainer, Cryaotic. Combine that with the fact that it scrambles references from three of my favorite video games and the song's message ever-so-slightly applies perfectly to my personal past, and I present to you the most mediocre song ever posted on this thread. And I love it.

Question, Mac: which three games?

Observation, Mac: that is so far from being the most mediocre song ever posted on this thread I can't even begin to tell you. You weren't around for the "M.O.M Anthem Contest" that gave birth to no anthem but bore a litter of tracks so lame I still jar awake bolt upright with Eduard Khil torturing me. (Thanks for nothing, Sputnik.)

1) The Walking Dead game ("five portions of Clementine", "your life saved mine through sliding doors", "I know you were dead special though")
2) Bioshock Infinite ("It's confession time", "lost in the far past that consumed you")
3) The Last of Us ("It hurts so much! Like a car crash man, I think I burnt the clutch!" "You elevated me Ellie, elevated me" "'Cause I really don't want this to be the last of us."

If I linked the correct video (I'll check), the music video is packed with Cutscene graphics from the three games, as well as a bearded man wearing what looks like a paper plate with a face on his head. 'Cuz it's art, mayne.

Edit: yup, the right video. Just the sight of Ellie, Elizabeth, and Clementine brings back the feelings. Three brilliant story-driven games. The Walking Dead was far and away the best, though. I cried liberally at the end of both installments in the series so far.

Man. I've gotta replay that game.

For video game emotional high watermarks like those I'd have to reach back to Parappa The Rapper, Mr. Mosquito and Katamari Damacy. I have a weakness for bizarrely infectious cross cultural disconnects. Well duh. I play Dogfight.

Let me save you the price of a hit of acid.

Encore earworm! (because I'll never post Interpol again after this)

A blistering version of a great song. Wish it'd sounded like this at Radio City. I love the building, I've seen memorable shows there...Interpol wasn't among 'em. I could tell they were nailing it but I spent most of the night searching for the sound guy. With a hammer.

I've got a few songs stuck in the skull. I watched the Jimmy Fallon with Jack White and was blown away. I have been crawling through the White Stripes, Dead Weather, the Racontuers and his solo stuff. Here is a song called Old Enough that was a great play to finish the eliptical run this morning.

And Seven Nation Army is tough to get out of my head.

Last song stuck in there is Get by with a Little Help from My Friends. I am learning it on the piano and struggling mightily. Trying to play the left hand straight and swing the right hand. Good topic here!

Bad news, boys: YellowBlaze is back.

Good news, boys: We have a new chew toy.

I gave him the second "Screw off" message on his "I'm back" thread, but I fully expect him to be YellowBlaze and ignore it.

Let's just go ahead and throw him the the M.O.M love list right now. Although, remember, it's only your plane that makes you good, so you'd better watch out.

You folks got Judy and I thinking....at our age....that's therapy for us.
We enjoy picking stupid things to watch on YouTube.

A song that was presented in a comedic manner, was a wonderful love song.
When death is near, it presents a new listen.

Now,
YORKIE,

Get that out of your memory.
And don't forget that:

"IT'S A SMALL WORLD...AFTER ALL."

Here's one, epic track by a central artist in my shuffle thingy...they're immense live, I got a chance to photograph them on tour at one point. Mac, see what you think, despite Jim Croce your receptiveness to boyinaband makes me wonder if this might also work for you...

The tour I shot them on was prior to Charlotte James joining. They were brilliant, just not nearly as plunging backline hot. Izzat sexist? I mean, she sings real good too.

Had a solid two hours of flying tonight. Played some good games of "Lag the carrier", "Lagfight," "Defend the Zeppelag," "Destroy the zeppelag," and "Bomb the base, lol jk just lag". I suppose I should've expected it, though. The "Lagging in" message on the screen was up for longer than usual most of the night.

Dave BoyinaBand is somewhat of an anomoly for me. I really don't care for that particular style of music, but the thing I like most about Dave is the intelligence and thought he puts into his work, his vlogs especially. I'll check the video out, Rick, and edit this post accordingly.

Edit: I found the vocal quality a tad lacking. I can see how she would be good in studio, but her pitch seems a titch off live.

As for the music itself, I enjoyed it very much. It would make for some great OST material, a soundtrack to replace that of the 99% of games I have whose soundtracks are awful. It would be the type of music I listened to while actually dogfighting. Not too though-provoking, but not dull. I liked it.

I thought the same about her pitch but I put the performance up against the studio version and realized she's on it all the way. There are vocals that fool the ear, that's one of 'em. People used to impersonate Tony Bennett by going all flat! He never was, it was just a characteristic of his style that made people think he was, Charlotte of Hybrid is the same.
