When the old pale sun was replaced by a dazzling new one a couple of upgrades ago, I think it was Calvin who asked if Z had plans to add sunglasses in a future upgrade.

Anyway, aiming half a sun diameter above the sun is a good way to secure a steady, maximum climb rate without stalling, and that was what the notorious high flyer Rickenbacher did after having dropped his bomb in this game.

For a lone rider like myself, the chance to make an iconical photo of Rickenbacher riding off into the sun was worth more than taking a shot at him with my Lewis gun, so I didn't drop my bomb to keep up with him, but just stayed on his tail till he disappeared into the sun.

I agree that it looks just too good! I don't quite understand how I could have let him get away. But it's a long time and many points and ranks ago, so I don't remember the details, only that we were climbing and I was close to stalling and couldn't manouver quickly enough.

In my next photo he's just a spot in the sun, so whatever it was he must have done something right and I must have done something wrong.

I do remember I wanted to use the bomb later, so I didn't drop it, and he chose to escape instead of getting into a dogfight. Maybe he was out of ammo.

Maybe it was only my first time but I found a new level on the carrier yesterday.
I was walking around the back side of the bridge when I fell two stories to what I thought was surely my death. To my amazement I ended up in what appeared to be an empty storage area below sea level. I could see the water flowing past quickly.
I am wondering if this is the secret room discussed by Slenderman in Serene Knowledge???
Has anyone else witnessed this level of the carrier??? I was unable to find an exit and had to autodestroy to get out.

You were close to the captain's cabin. Next time look for his safe and the treasure map. This is the hanger deck. Just below is where you were. More info can be found at the FLASH topic. No 1 has reported finding the treasure yet. Good luck.

Yes the carrier really has 3 levels deck, hanger, and a room below the hanger heres some pictures.

It is risky to venture into a hot fight as a PHOTOGRAPHER, saying "I'm here to make photos and I will return fire only if shot at".

I immediately got this answer from a lieutenant: "I, on the other hand, am here to KILL", and when he attacked me, I had to shoot him down twice. After that he left me alone.

He was not a great challenge, but it's fun how you are in fact able to outmanouver and shoot down some pilots even if they're many ranks above you when you fly around in a Sopwith! When I was fresh in the game I thought it wouldn't be possible, - but really, even though it is a great advantage to have a fast plane, you actually manage quite well with a simple Sopwith if you just don't fly straight for too long.

When I said I was out to make photos, Oneball immediately retorted with something along the lines of "I'll massacre you, godd### homo######!" but ended it with a smiley to show that he was only joking.

Both he and the others let me close in on the fight without taking part in a way that would not have been possible if I had not come as a press photographer.

You'll get help from others too. PHOTOPLANE has no bomb or guns. I felt like shooting people too. However,the press are non-combatants and I won't shoot. Upon entering mission I state that I am unarmed/don't shoot. Most will respect that. You WILL get shot down. It's a given, but other pilots help you out. Tell the BAD ones to read the Dogfight News and they will become educated. Make a list of those who disrespect the press and when you ARE armed they are at your mercy! We must educate the masses as we learn how to do it ourselves.

Problem is people enter at different stages of the game and don't know if your a photographer or the enemy. If I appear in the middle of a battle I may not be able to ask if you are taking pics... You know I'd never attempt to shoot you down if I knew you were taking pictures.

ZOMBIE PROBLEM ON THE INCREASE?

There have always been some zombies in Dogfight. They are quite harmless: they're planes or tanks which are just sitting there. They seem to be indestructible, but if you shoot at them they register hits with system messages like:

you hit SWAT Taught
you hit SWAT Taught
you hit SWAT Taught
you hit SWAT Taught

- But there is never any smoke or fire.

Zombies do cause problems though, because they seem like easy targets and attract the attention of many players of the opposite team. If you had the power to place a few zombie team mates around on the ground you would in fact increase your chances of winning.

This last week I've seen zombies almost every day. Much more often than usual! Could there be something new going on?

The zombie on this photo, from just some hours ago, made several inexperienced players circle around shooting at him, but when I readied my camera and flew in to make a closeup, somebody from the other team came in from behind and put me out of my misery.

I always assumed the "zombies" you are describing were planes that had been shot down/tanks that were destroyed and their pilots were sitting at the "Quit/Retry" menu that pops up. Basically they are already dead which is why you can't kill them, but if nobody pushes the button to reload their plane they will just sit there and be a distraction. You are right though, they are excellent decoys. Somebody let me know if I'm wrong.
