James ..sorry Myrlin.. I can't thank you enough.. Will start with the banners.. Fantastic.. Then the VP-26 squadron patch, yep that's me.. And finally, I'm humbled by the time it took you to put up the history.. I have a large tattoo of Vietnam on my right forearm.. With 67/68 in the middle of the outline.. I've never finished the tat as Im at a loss as to what to put inside the outline.. Thank you for publishing the bio about our losses.. Again so it's not misunderstood, I was in Sangley pt PI when both of the planes and CACs were lost, and in no danger.. 24 young men that I was just getting to know.. Thank you again for posting it.. Like most Vietnam vets im conflicted about that war.. 58,000 young men lost for what.. So we can import shirts and bed spreads from Vietnam.. May they rest with the Lord..

Note on my Squadrons losses, I have so many emotions about the loss of the two 12 man CACs that I seldom think are talk about it.. I do want to correct the bio on one thing, it's believed that the first plane was struck by an RPG, and the second by a RPD 30 cal machine gun.. Not a fifty cal.. The round is a 7.62 X54 Russian that has almost identical ballistics as our 30.06 and the British 303 both of these rounds were used by the allied fighters in WWI, while the German WWI planes mostly fired the Axis 8MM round .. these rounds are still common to this day..

Padre,thanks for the correction on some of the facts. I was happy to post some of the history, but did not want to bring back any bad memories. I'm not well versed on anything post Civil War, so I copied and pasted what I found. I'm a huge history buff, and facts are important. Sometimes my spongy,"need to know" hunger for history gets in the way of sensitivity to others. I apologize if I brought back undesirable thoughts. One thing I have found to be true with history, is knowing someone who "lived" that history, and how they share their experiences with passion and emotion, feeds my passion and emotion for more knowledge. For that I thank you, Greg.So, in support of you and others who have so unselfishly and patriotically served their Nation, and Veterans Day fast approaching, I salute you, my friend. I'm proud to call you my friend.

No apologies needed for any memories that were brought up, there always there in one form or another, and now in a good way.. We had such an unusual war compared to most who served in Vietnam.. Sangley pt NAS (now given back to the PI) is just outside the city of Cavite.. and it was a south sea paradise for a 19 year old from rural IL. I'd go into details, but afraid the good Lord would come down and tear off my Chaplain stripes..

I found a great deal on a light weight leather bomber jacket last winter, and I'm having a local shop sew on both the Sqd patch and a couple of others I found at the same site.. Pictures ASAP.. Although I might have to text them to one of you guys to post, as im sure having issues with direct from pad posting..
