Although I can't play as much as I like, I've been able to maintain my overall ranking +/- 3 spots for the most part. I've noticed however, that my squad ranking continues to drop. This seems to happen once a month at the start of the month.

Now, as the squad historian, I felt I needed to do some research here and determine what is going on to make the squad rank not match the trending of the overall ranking. I've spent a lot of money on this (typically while researching this issue in "clubs") and time (typically between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. every other Thursday on alternating months). I've conducted a lot of interviews starting with my control group consisting of a number of people who don't play the game.

Here are my preliminary findings:

It seems that every month we invite really good pilots to the squad! This pushes my squad rank down!! I feel the only recourse to this problem is to adjust our targets for the monthly recruitments. In this vein I've been evaluating pilots recently and have come up with the following pilots that I would like to recommend to the Star Chamber. All of these pilots are Wing Commanders but show great promise:

FrockWig!
DentHasHairyLegs
DieselHasGas
BlueMaxSux
VonVonVonVonVonVonVonVonVonVon
WhereInTheWorldIsKopf

Please keep an eye out for these pilots and hopefully the Star Chamber will select some for the next recruitment drive.

It's precisely this sort of keen insight that has made Zandor an essential component of M.O.M. The insight and the Nina Agdal banner.

Ive just returned from a few games in my lunch hour, and I must say a regular momfest ensued.......the gentlemen who need a big thanks are as follows : . Wig, Legless Killer, Mean Fokker and Von Len. Von, Legless had to leave and told me to send his apologies. Great games played by all - if ive missed any names then its due to my lack of caffeine. Thanks guys its rare that I have that much fun.

I too have noticed this same coincidence. I sat and pondered over why this continued to happen for many months now and in turn it droped me into a severe state of multiple physological isses that I will not name off because there isn't a name for them yet.

I am glad to see your findings and it eases my suffering that there is a very good explanation to why thes phenomenon is occouring. I am glad there is a good reason.

Thank you for you always excelent insight.

Now, instead of paying a great amount of money to multiple psychologist that have been just telling me to come back weekly, to give them more money, and refers me to multiple counselors that has to see me three times a week, to give them more money, that wrights me multiple scripts, that cost more money, that I have to go to multiple pharmacies, to give them more money, to get filled because most pharmacies dont carry theses special items and then when they do I have to come back on multiple days, because none of the script experation dates are the same, that in turn wastes more money that I already am spread thin on because of having to drive so far now for these reasons and now even farther to find multiple jobs that are getting harder to come by due to the multiple banks close to home have been robbed, I will just ask you.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing there are no independent squad rankings done by MOM/WIG/Whoever. My guess is that the reason you are dropping in the squad ranks is because other mom's are passing you in the overall rankings. For instance: as of yesterday Ole Sgt. York was ranked 290 in D.F and 70 in MOM. That means there are 69 other moms ranked better than 290. If I take a few days off, maybe some other MOM will move up to at least 289 or better, and bump me to 71st MOM? This is pure speculation on my part. Wig would know....... ;) B)

That's about the size of it, Ted. Overall rank is based upon stats, in-squad rank is based upon overall rank relative to overall rank of squad-mates. If there are 35 M.O.MORAFs in the Top 100, they're ranked somewhere between #1 and #100. Within M.O.M those 35 are ranked 1-35.

I have lucked out landing a few games with all of these fine players. Sometimes red and other times blue, howeve it is always a great time. What is even more fun is the times that several are able to stay in the same server (group) you might be red one round and blue the next. The great part about it is, you know it is going to be a good clean fun time most often ending with a great ab workout from all the cutting up and laughing!

Early on when I first started playing this game, it was that spirit of cut up and have a good time, that drew me to this fine group of fighters. I feel this very thought process is what helps us to grow stronger everyday.
Any how, if I missed your name here I truly did not mean to, and was just trying to say I have had a real fun few days shooting with you or at you!

I just spawned into a game where there were at least 100 reds buzzing me, I thought for a second that I spawned onto the enemy base. I started fighting and shooting, when I saw one of them was lowenheart I thought " CRAPOLA this will be a sucky game" as he just drops and camps. After awhile MEAN FOKKER came into the game and then jr. FOKKER came in. I think we only had one hanger and they had all 8.

Well the fight begin, they had sneakers and droppers, oh my goodness what a great game, the teamwork was amazing. Bottom line is we whopped them good, even got some respectable stats from the game.

MEAN FOKKER AND JR. FOKKER CAN BE MY TEAMMATES ANYTIME, THEY WERE GREAT.

I will also give lowenheart some credit, he did not quit. He fought hard as everyone did.

Bloody April refers to April 1917, and is the name given to the (largely successful) British air support operations during the Battle of Arras, during which particularly heavy casualties were suffered by the Royal Flying Corps at the hands of the German Luftstreitkräfte.

The tactical, technological and training differences between the two sides ensured the British suffered a casualty rate nearly four times as great as their opponents. The losses were so disastrous that it threatened to undermine the morale of entire squadrons. Nevertheless, the RFC contributed to the success, limited as it finally proved, of the British Army during the five-week campaign.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the beginning of Bloody April...all this month M.O.M is commemorating the occasion with a Bloody Good April Recruitment Drive.

Sling a salute to two more new M.O.Ms:

Blue Max Stock

\....GAW...../

Mr. Stock takes our M.O.MORAF count to...well, frankly, I've lost count. Let's call it a F*ckload of MORAFs. I believe that's the technical name, like a Murder of Crows, or a Gaggle of Geese. Or a Smoldering Heap of Misfits. He's a brilliant pilot, another hardcore aviation buff to add to our think-tank, and there's an honest to imaginary god Blue Max recipient in his family tree. It doesn't get much cooler than that.

Mr. W..../, or \....GA, if I may be so bold as to put us on a first name basis, (it's actually Glenn) hit us with one of the strongest applications we've had, and we've had some great ones. (In fact Rod Stock's was among the most exceptional we've received, as well.) An excerpt of Glenn's app reads,

"It seems like the pilots I connect with tend to be MOMs. Well most of them tend to connect with me at distances I could only dream of at this point in my game. After getting dusted often and regularly by (M.O.M), I was thinking, heck if you can’t beat them, join them. I have really enjoyed the game so far. My wife thinks I have a problem. She may be right."

I've seen him play, he gets his share of clock cleaning done.

Both great person/player type people, both unmistakably M.O.Mcentric. Bloody well welcome, gent'mins!

Thanks Donm, and congrats B.52! Guys, do we know of anyone going from noob to MORAF in less than ten weeks? I've never seen anyone jet up the rankings this fast! Good thing I was barely smart enough to not bother building him a classic style banner. Well done, John! I tried my damnedest to be there but you slipped away to another server, just glad you had M.O.Ms along for the big moment!

Those generic Reaper clones are a stitch, aren't they, D? Too flippin' funny! You were missed but Sam and I muddled through... "crushed" might be more accurate... until the Borg collective all bailed and only M.O.M DiverB was left. Much less whiney company. Frank Baracca jumped in at the last but we'd already overrun the joint, not even Paolo could stop us. Sam finished just a few points off my score, it was neck and neck all the way, and a lovely time spanking nameless numbered boo-boo babies was had by all. Well played, Darraxx, DiverB, Samweb, Paolo, et al.

Hello WIG and all of you friends. Just coming to drop a few words. I hope in the next days to start playing more often and enjoy chatting and playing with you. With a new device and better internet connection I want to improve in the game and the rank, I am well behind of a lot of Morafs with whom I used to play two years ago. With this I am justifying my poor performance in the last months and why I don't show up more often as I should. I wish you the best my friends, and hope to see you in the sky, in better conditions. Have a great time...

Fela ~ ~ ~bad wrote: Hello WIG and all of you friends.

It's great to see you on the thread, Felipe! As I'm sure you're aware, there's a whole, huge new crop of red for you to reduce to rubble. I look forward to watching them get acquainted with one of DF's best, they don't know what fun they're in for!

Kids, there appears to be a new wrinkle (hold your "old" jokes, please) in the squad management database thingy. Yesterday we saw a screen cap of a member of another squad infiltrating the M.O.M Squad Chat zone. Later in the day, B.52 suddenly found himself shifted from M.O.M to another squad. This morning I have a note from Von leper asking for help, as he's been dumped from M.O.M into still another squad. I noticed in my inbox of read messages that a couple from our Von Skullz are now showing as having been sent by V10 Reaper somebody or other.

Clearly there's a wrench in the works. Player names are being transposed, squad assignments are being switched. Please let me know asap if you're aware of any other such gaffs. I've written to Joaquin, I want to be sure we have as much as possible to go on. Thanks.
