Brian, try the sequence of steps I outlined: (thanks again, Martin!)

Log out of the forum

Near the Log In fields hit the "Forgot User Name" link

When you get the email with the reminder of your User Name, click the link in it

Log In with the old User Name (B Strachan)

This should then send you to a new "Edit Profile" page

Select the "Change User Name" option (or whatever it's called)

Enter a new User Name with no spaces (BStrachan, BrianStrachan, etc)

Save

If it works, and it did for me, you'll have control of your Profile again. As soon as that's the case I'll be happy to log in and install the new banner for you.

Post here and let me know as soon it's ready.

Had a game with Buckgeo last night. He said he put in his app. He still has a big hell yeah from me.

Buckgeo & Mpenalba both. Pretty sure M has an app in also.

Played many games against them both. They always seem to be red for some reason. Neither of then bale. I likes.

I have my first pad review to share. I bought a Sony Experia Tablet Z (android, jellybean) 32 gig.

Screen size is good 10.1 inch. Jumps and lags a bit even with all graphics off. Quits to home screen after about 10 to 20 minutes of play. This ended my android run. If you can't play what is the point? Water is black. My wife can candy crush on it.

Compared to iPad 4 there is no comparison. iPad 4 blows this tablet away. The Sony should have been the best of the best on android. Graphics aren't nearly as crisp and clear.

The only gripes I have with the iPad 4 I have are the random freeze ups I get. Froze at retry screen. Pulls up moderator report screen and freezes. Freezes at auto-destroy/quit screen. These you can wait out and they reset. Takes too long but livable. Also the split screen tank is a pain in the arse. Also livable. Not sure why but I seem to be the only one that gets these all (at least the only one bitching). When it does my keyboard goes crazy. Will not type a Z or it types a bunch of them. Also does not type the first letter I type unless I punch it twice. This is the only place I have trouble with it so I'd say it is this game. Possible it is an IOS 7 glitch but all new apple devices will be IOS 7 so it needs a fix.

iPad air (5) will be here next week. I will give a comparison to the 4 and let you know what I think. Right now I'm totally sold on the 4. The graphics and clarity of the picture combined with very few glitches and hiccups in-game are my main reasons for the choice. All graphic settings still have to be set to off. I wish he would quit adding graphics here that even the best devices can not handle. It jacks this game up for no reason. Why have it if we all have to turn it off?

I'm on an iPad4 with IOS 7 and can't say I have experienced those issues. I'm just having the typical glitches that seem inherent to this last update and the lag has seemed to increase.

I'm on an iPad4 with IOS 7 and can't say I have experienced those issues. I'm just having the typical glitches that seem inherent to this last update and the lag has seemed to increase.

Most of them seem to happen the longer I play. The pad gets warm and the game starts really jacking up. The games that I have that go in to extreme over time seem to be the worst. The split screen tank is always there. Can't say how often because I try not to hit the tank but it isn't 100% of the time. I like to play with the soldier a lot and sometimes accidentally touch it though while I'm running around. Every time I hit the tank it splits the screen and I have to exit the game. A lot of the games I have a massive score in I could end If I could tank. I just have to kill every thing and hope my team gets in there.

Susi Harakiri, Lesa (the original "no name" often referred to as "Two Dots", aka "wig's virtual Dogfight sweetheart") and M.O.M Prodigy Conoco have been the key female members of M.O.M. Mrs. Richyroo, as well, although that was a family discount sort of thing.

Iwata (Susi) is a charming student in Yokohama and plays infrequently. Tokyo nurse (and sister of veteran DF player OH~MYGOD) Lesa stopped playing for a lengthy stretch then returned some time ago preferring to try her hand at starting her own squad.
But she's still my in-game girl. (the mock rivalry over her between doggs and me is the stuff of M.O.M legend!)

Then 16 year old high schooler Conoco was, with Sputnik, a first generation Prodigy. She'd be 18 or close to it by now and remains one of the most delightful members we've had. I often wish she'd drop back in if only to let us know how she is and what she's doing.

You might well say Luna and *420* are honorary M.O.Ms, they're certainly among our favorite people in Dogfight.

Despite the .M in M.O.M I'd welcome the opportunity to boost our X chromosome count. ROSE, are ya listenin'?

A glance at Dogfight's gender breakdown history reveals a dearth of female players, which is a shame. Aside from the aforementioned Luna, Jasmine and DESERT ROSE, there have been precious few. Makaela was a well known presence early in the game but appears to have moved on. A year ago DF was abuzz over a phenom called .Dianne...who turned out to be a sockpuppet of .TheVampire. A ubiquitous player, Misfit Sonic (or Sonicboomgirl) also proved to be a male player posing as female, and a jackass male player, at that. Jenny from Deutschland is one of Dogfight's Frauleins I miss most.

Currently I can think of Red Baroness, Claire, Gen~~~Jack's better half, Mrs. Serious...and that's about it. "Dogfight Planes" does not appear to have much curb appeal for female gamers trawling the app stores. This I regard as unfortunate. Our squad name would seem to belie any interest in a feminine player contingent but, c'mon...we're named after what should be the most beloved woman in every mean old man's life fercrissakes! Any of us walking around with a tattoo that says "DAD"?

Randy, I'm researching new devices, myself, while researching ways to justify the unnecessary expense. Lots of progress on the former, zero on the latter. Still, here's what I've come up with:

The Sony Experia Z is a premium tablet intended to compete with the iPad 4 and chock fulla premium bugs. No contest between the two in terms of performance.

The real iPad killer, or close, is the Google Nexus 10. But with the introduction of the iPad Air there's likely to be little comparison, The Nexus fared well head to head with the iPad 4 but the Air blows away the 4 and everything else on either side of the Android/Apple divide. The next gen Nexus 10 has been trapped in the rumor mill, we still have no definitive info on what it will be, or even if it will be. Projected release date keeps getting pushed back, Black Friday and Cyber Whateverday have already been missed, the holiday shopping season is now for all intents and purposes a write off...and the rumors persist that Google might elect to retire the larger pad to concentrate on dominating the small (7"-8") tablet market. They recently debuted their 5" Nexus phone, a commitment to smaller devices is evident. If there is no new Nexus 10 the next best android device will probably remain the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Its processor and display come closest to giving the iPad Air a run for its money...which is to say not all that close.

With the iPad Air invasion already well underway Dogfight has finally, fully arrived at the tipping point where skill takes a backseat to tech advantage. Anyone with the Air will now dominate players with stronger skill sets purely by virtue of the Retina display, higher resolution, the blistering fast new Apple A7 chip, the M7 coprocessor, dual band MIMO wifi, a thin, light, easy to flail with design...and the unspoken fact that apps like Dogfight are optimized for Apple first, Android second. It's something we've all dreaded, and had to deal with to a lesser extent when faced with the iPad 4; Dogfight success is now dependent on how much cash you can throw at a gadget. For someone who ranked all the way to MORAF on a mid-level, slow, 4" Android phone (and has the Deads stat to prove it) it's a sad moment for me. The playing field just went vertical and it's all of us still slogging along with modest devices who'll be sliding off into the abyss.

C'mon you Nexus 10...at least we'd be able to keep half a step, not four steps, behind. Anything to avoid having to be held hostage by Apple's Nazi ecosystem...

Thanks WIG for your research. It has convinced me to get the ipad air first week of January. I have to many times where I'm shooting at someone and nothing happens until they fire at me and I'm toast. Maybe a new ipad will correct that as it frustrates the crud out of me.

Anders, with a bigger, oomphier device you'd be exponentially more dreaded than you already are. I'm talkin' spontaneous heart attacks at the sight of "TinkerHell" in red. Since we make a point of always playing together on the same side I'm all for you getting an iPad Air. Maybe we could get a deal if we buy in bulk? Get that $700 sticker down to something in the neighborhood of, oh, $15 or $20, and I'll start digging through the couch cushions for change.

Vesa, the last Android update seems reasonably safe. None of the big problems have been addressed; but I don't think it's appreciably worse than the previous update. (the one before the one that this one was designed to fix)

That sounds more like a lag issue than something device related. The new iPad might overcome certain forms of slow-down but I can't say, based on what I've read, that its better specs would help reduce lag. It's fast, but not that fast. You're already using an earlier iPad, right? All other things being equal, when the fifth gen iPad goes up against other devices it should provide some degree of advantage. But if lag is causing your shots to fail to register when they hit no amount of Retina display or processor speed will be likely to help. I know exactly the problem you're talking about, in the last three weeks it's dragged my mission average down from 130/30 to 70/35 (sometimes it's all I can do to barely get away at 2:1 or worse)...through no other influencing factors than increased server lag. A 60" iPad running NASA's mainframe chip wouldn't change it. Like I said, I fear the Apple ecosystem, we all know how rigid and slow to update the i-store is. But if you're already accustomed to it, I don't see how you can go wrong with the new gadget, it's a peach.

Speaking of which, have y'all played Phoung VN yet? (Something like that?). If I could speak Vietnamese I would have ready invited him and increase the M.O.M presence in Southeast Asia. He's a decent pilot, but his rifling skills could teach Max a thing or three. I no longer shoot him down unless I'm sure I can kill his chute. If he gets to the ground, I have to fly WAY around to survive and hope some lucky noob drops a bomb on him.

Well it's MOMday name change day. (Rick, I hope you don't mind me imposing a new twist). Today I select Anders as the name to be or some form of Bellsaj/Tinkerbell. I'll leave it to clever folks to figure out how to bastardize this one.

I think I'll go with... Oh hell I don't even know, but I'll figure something out.
