That WAS a great tangle! I couldn't shake you and was running out of tricks. I'll admit, you had me completely on the defensive.

Yeah, I HATE HATE HATE being taken out by friendly fire...even worse when you're in the middle of a quality fight. So I understand your frustration. But, I'll keep my eye out for you and maybe we can finish "the dance" next time.

All the best,

Small question for the squad. If you spawn in to a game where there is another MOM and he is out numbered, say.......um.......6 to 1, orrrrrrrrrrrr........you spawn in a game where there are 2 MOMs vs. 6 reds, do you...........

A. Try and switch sides and help your squad mate?
B. Leave and find another game because you wont be a part of a MOM stomping?
C. Stay and try to hand those effing MOMs their asses with the other 6 or 7 red guys? Bad form to say the least.

1 of these 3 I don't really see as an option.

Just curious to see what the rest of you think.

I'd like to say A but if I leave it up to my phone it's probably going to be B, and when it is a bad quittohomescreenday I'm sad to say I probably go with C for a few minutes.

This is how frustrating the bug is...

Davy, I thought your request finally came through. No? Double check then check back with me. I'll look at the in-game roster. I've been lax in keeping up with the M.O.M thread and not sure if you've followed up on this.

Well, I'm not the most intuitive guy around, but I'd say there's a catalyst to you asking this question.... Interesting. I do think it's fair to point out that 2 MOMs on a team is about the most any group of reds can handle. To answer your question, you know I'm switching and usually doesn't have to be a MOM that's outnumbered for me to do it. Just a "friend" is all I need to switch. There are a few exceptions and they know who they are.

Actual situation/conversation from recent game...

Spawn in (as blue).

Hit brake button. :P

Have multiple reds flying down the runway spraying me with bullets.

Wait for them to pass and take off. :woohoo:

Shoot down red planes.

Proceed to red base, drop bomb and camp. :)

Wait for planes to take off and shoot them down (a number are easy because they fly straight...others not so much). :cheer:

After a few kills, accused of spawn killing.

Explain if they fly straight then it's really easy for me to kill them.

I am then told they have to fly straight to kill incoming bombers. :S

So, spawn killing has now extended to allowing the red planes to not only take off and maneuver but to also kill incoming bombers. At this point, you can safely start shooting. I swear I'm slowing moving over to the spawn killing side of things. It just would be so much easier.

New M.O.M Thread Feature Alert!!!

We've all had the experience of having to put down your handheld device in order to mop up the cheap hooch that just spewed out your nose after reading a priceless nugget of in-game chat. It might've been something you read on a thread or saw in world-chat. Whatever it was it broke you up. Beginning here and now M.O.M will preserve these gems for Dogfight chat posterity! Introducing:

Plane Speaking

The simplest forum feature ever! Watch for the funniest chat of the day, post it here for the rest of the world to enjoy. Dassit! Be sure to feature the title so we know it's what it is. Like so...

Plane Speaking

I'm in a BTB, flying just past midfield when I see a red tank move to a spot then stop dead still. I tee him up and blow him to bits. To which he says,

"How did you hit me??!! I was protected by that tree!!!

Here's another:

Plane Speaking

Swop and I nearly crash. Swop says, "That was close!" Bopes replies,

"Just like me...Swop longs to be..."

It can be intentionally funny, unintentionally funnier, incomprehensibly stupid, or ideally all of the above. Whatever grabs you by the funny-banter-bone. This is a feature so pre-dumbed-down, everybody can get in the act! Show me a M.O.M who don't love him some dumb!

Plane Speaking (or Chattica!, or Babbleground, or The Banter Decanter)

A copyright feature of The M.O.M Thread!

Rick,

I think Clay's got one for ya, but I'll let him post it.

Good game tonight with Clay, ghostrider and our very own BIG PAPA (aka Jimbo)! Had me giggling so hard I could hardly shoot straight. Nuthin better than flyin' with this crowd.

We did have a good game, although i usually need a couple to warm up to my usual level of skill-less play..... However, it was indeed a MOM heavy night, parrot after you and clay left wig, myself, blob, and bell had two straight btb games lasting about an hour each... It was an all mom blue team about 90% of the time, we won both games without a scratch on our hangers..... Couldnt have asked for more......

Jumbo, congratulations on the new arrival, Mrs. Ghostrider and I have been looking forward to parent-hood, but no such luck yet, boy or girl? Great game tonight also, didnt know you were a mom until after I left game to come here....

Everybody, in my first game of the evening(ffa) i spawned in, checked board and saw chatter to the effect of "this is my first game in big server" a few seconds later i read: " I'm going to kill my first mom" so I took off and dammit if the little bugger didnt get me, he laughed(rightly so, he caught me with my preverbial pants down) he then began to talk of how he would take mom "on" ..... Bzerkberzk and raptor warned him but he didn't listen, the game ended before I could find him, I told him to stay on that server, but I couldn't find him anywhere but on world chat later, I thought this young man could be our new hyperdrive(i tried to get my turn with him tonight but game was too busy, I got him a 4 or 5 times and he left.....

Was only able to catch a couple shots, but he called us craker, also......

Something horrible happened to me today. I was in gym when two younger guys (about 20) came in. After changing clothes they asked if it was ok to change channel from radio. And when they talked to me they used second person plural, which is used as t-v distinction when talking respectively to older people or to express polite social distance.

FREAKING HELL I'M NOT EVEN TWICE AS OLD AS THEY!!!

Now i'm cryining.

Plane Speaking

(Names edited to protect the innocent)

World chat a few days ago:

A fellow named Clark Kent and a guy named after a "humped desert beast", only spelled different were having a go-round. I came in and asked to be forever known as Lex Luther? I politely suggested the "humped desert beast" play the unassigned part of Lois Lane. To which the beast replied "Ugh" "it's Blue max"

Fast forward:

I see the "humped desert beast" later on the next day, in a game Clay and I were in. "Hello Lois" to which he replies "not you again" We play a bit and another member of his squad squad shows up. "Hello other member of hump beasts squad" I say. "Hi Max" blah, blah, yada, yada. (Read as small talk) hump beast says "watch out for Max" I remain silent. Soon after hump beast says "HE HAS BEEN CALLING ME LOIS" bahahahahahahah (I almost fell out of my chair and dropped my pad) I compose myself and respond. "Hump beast did you REALLY just tattle on me?" Lmao !!!!!!

To be continued..............

As a direct answer, then 3. My attitude is this; the moment i select my plane, im already settling into a commited game (unless I absolutely have to 'gtg'...) my cards are dealt. When I spawn I wanna know what ranks exist, teams 'balance' then anyone I recognise, oh then the immediate battlefield sit rep of course. Wotto. Then I check the mission again. Chocks Away

Regardless of what I expect, I honour the hand Im dealt, I accept my mission. If im outnumbered so be it, I fight till dead. Invariably, give or take a few  knocks, support arrives, the balance evolves and near the crux of the game, your side starts to dominate and a win feels inevitable. Every game has its own merits, seeing someone swap over to support is one fine example.

When I see 2 red M.O.Ms and I am in a cluster of blue squares, I dont think 'quick, to the rescue', I think ' oh  im going to die'. When I see one, I think, avoid, let him churn up the queue of victims. If attacked, I prove my banner and give him my best greeting.

Although sometimes players swap sides, sometimes at great length and disruption to their own game, in order to support the minority and balance the techie imbalance  most times I dont. I do swap sides, have since this malfunction began but usually if the outnumbered opp is fairly low rank. I usually stick to the deal in these situations and try to leave the killing to others unless im attacked.
When Im outnumbered lookout

Davy, no tag is like no undies. Commando style. Gets a bit exposed and windy up there around Christmas time (or Holiday ;) I know how it feels chap. Even this shall pass, hang on in there fella, you'll be back in full whistle and flute before you can say "bomb that hanger".

Bellsaj- I hope you were able to empty out some of your mind full over the weekend...

Plane Speaking: Part 2 continued

Our story continues in world chat. (One of my favorite places currently)

I like to have a pregame romp around the chat. I've began with "I want to kick a puppy and kill noobs" & "I ate cereal out of a dead noobs skull this morning" Things like that. :)

So I'm on and headed to a game. I see Pigman on world chat, asking "are there any hot girls here" etc........I ask Pigman "will you be my girlfriend?" Also vaguely remember reports of him and a possible ban or mute. I can't recall exactly.

Pman "No I'm a guy dude"

Max "I will pretend you didn't say that" "can I call you hunny buns?" "You are my BFF GF"

We go back and forth for a bit, I tire of it and head to a server.

Play the game and head back to world chat to make sure Hunny Buns hasn't been cheating on me. What do I see......WTF?........it's Lois. Already typed in how the humped beast has to put me in my place.......... Holy batshit, Batman.......Lois has lost her hump backed mind. (Now I have my angry face on) But wait.........calm, calm............woooooo saw, wooooo saw. Ok, I almost dropped several F bombs and totally blew my top on the WORLD CHAT and a few other choice phrases. It's possible, more likely probable I'd have Been muted. For life. But I caught my self.(pats self on back) turns out I was harassing Pigman, so says Lois. "I need to stop" hummmm.........OK..........I say "you are my hero" "Pigman I'm breaking up with you" "sorry but I love Lois" "I have a new GF, sorry it didn't work out with us Pigman"........bahahahahahahah............and Lois the hump back goes silent. Possibly for the first time in the history of DF(See Gen. Jacks, "inappropriate posts !!!!" Thread and read between the lines.) ;) Who has my "I love Lois Lane T shirt"???????

I'm not making LOIS shirts too.
These are our best seller.

I even had a special order for 6 with hump space.

So have any of you guys played with a fellow named Rangler? Got the noob rank, but I suspect he may be a vet with a different account. Anyways was in free for all and the guy, in a red baron plane, not only whoops my tail hard but also wins the game. Now, maybe I was doing pretty bad, but if you guys run into him, keep an eye out. He seems like he might be a good addition once he ranks up a few times. Lord knows he was kicking me hard lol. Then again it could've been my wifi doing that. Seems to enjoy doing that.

Chocks thank you for your concern, some of it is out and some will stay the rest of my life.
In some time thinking of him hopefully only will result in putting a smile on my face, but loosing a liflong friend, mentor, and hunting buddy to the everlasting hunting grounds isn't easy.

ANDERS,

My friend, you have a special spotter now.
He'll let you know what's up ahead and protect you from other hunters.
Wish him well from me in your prayers and be thankful that you were blessed with his presence and friendship.
As you get older you lose many friends to the inevitable.
Such is life....and death.
My heart is with you.

He was the last of the old, a friend of my grandfather.
With him an era died.

I like to think that he and the others are reunited and having a good time on the other side.

They probably looks down on me tearing there hair in frustration "no, no, NO you fool thats the wrong way, the mooses are over there. Will you ever learn?"
