No! I'm not out to nail people who are too young (below 9) or too old (more than 125) to play this game. It's just plain curiosity!

Now and then people ask others in this forum how old they are , but most players seem to be shy about it and have not listed their age in their profile, and they don't answer when being asked.

Here's my idea about the probable age profile of the Dogfight players. What do you think?

It would be fun to know the truth about the age distribution of the players.

Here's my challenge to you: write a private message where you tell me your age, or if you don't want me to be able to connect your age to your name in this game, send it to me in an e-mail to this address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I am used in my profession to handle private information of different kinds, and I promise I will not tell anybody your age unless you specifically authorizes me to do so.

When and if I have enough information to make a statistic, I'll post it here.

You may be right, although I know of senior citizens who play Dogfight and I've seen both an 8-year old and a 6-year old play it.

I personally think the peak of the graph should be farther right, say 21ish. It will be interesting if you get a good response.

I'm 13, and I know a player that is 75 years old! Pretty cool....he's a descent player too!

Then he holds the upper age record so far.

I don't know if it's a good idea to be gathering personal information like this veidar. It's one thing if it's required, but some people would rather keep it private.

I agree. Please don't give information about others, only about yourself.

Still, I wouldn't be overly nervous about it. Everybody has given some information about herself/himself in his/her profile, which everybody is free to look up, so this website, like countless others, constitutes a database of personal information, supplied by the users, and of their own choice.

As Slender has pointed out, it's unwise to give personal information about others without the consent of those involved. I suggest you edit your message and substitute "a player I know of" for the actual name of the person, - that is if he hasn't published his age himself in his profile.

When I started this out, I didn't really think it would work, but surprisingly many people have already written private answers to my question.

Within a week or two I shall be able to show you a histogram based on actual information.

Many of those who have sent me private messages are either quite young, - or not so young. I seem to get a bit more of the extremes than of the average. So average agers, come on!

I just want to state clearly that I believe age is immaterial in Dogfight. What matters is your skill in the game.

The only reason why I try to make this statistic is that I'm incurably curious about almost everything!

How young can one be and still be a fearless and successful dogfighter? How old can one be?

What is the average age for dogfighters?

Another interesting question is why so relatively many of the players are girls? A minority, certainly, but still!

It must mean Dogfight is seen by them as being different to most other wargames, where I believe 98% of the players are boys. Why is that? What makes Dogfight different?

1. I don't think age matters, I mean Watup and Chan are great examples. Both are much younger than myself and easily surpass me in skill, hahahah. Same goes for older players. I think what it all comes down to is how much time you have to practice/how dedicated you are.

3. I'd have to say (from what I've seen) the 13-15 is what we have the most. But the total average of players would probably be around 16-17.

4. Dogfight isn't as intimidating as other war games. I mean, you boot up Call of Duty with no past experience -- and within seconds you'll find yourself with a knife in your back. I'm not too much of a fan of any of the Call of Duties -- especially those on console. I own them, but I do not participate in the multiplayer. All the REAL good Call of Duty players play Call of Duty 1-2 on PC. The sniper servers are the best. If you get up and even attempt to run'n'gun, you'll find yourself shot in literally seconds. Plus the players are much more mature than the idiots on Modern Warfare/Black Ops. Anyways!

5. It's general guys who take interest in war. As a very young child I was always reading WWII books, I saw Saving Private Ryan at a very, very young age (LOL), and more. I've always just found war, tactics and other aspects extremely interesting. Especially weaponry.

Just as it's somewhat rare to find a girl who knows her guns -- I think the same goes for Dogfight. Even though Dogfight isn't your generic "shoot 'em up" game.

Just my thoughts.

I love Call of Duty.Their is a game called"Call of Duty BlackOps:Zombies.It is solo fun.You have to survive in a map but their a re only two for now.You have to kill zombies with awesome guns and knife.

The game is rated 9+, but the user agreement says you must be at least 13 to play. But go ahead and play. I'm not a cop.

haha, i doubt anyone actually cares about that. i dont think that theres any good reason that u would have to be 13 to play. it's not really violent, since you cant actually see people since the cockpits are empty. i guess all the swearing, but it's not like they dont hear it at school.

It's a general rule for internet games to have a 13 year old age limit.
