Padre,

I've been at this game since sometime early summer. When I first started I was awful--shot everything in sight, was called a 'noob' (took me days to figure out what that meant) and ask everyone--I couldn't land to save my soul..LOL

It just takes time. And you hit a major mile stone at 1k and I'm proud of you. KDR don't matter in Wolf Pack, it's how we stick together and help one another and our allies.

I agree with our Sir Myrlin, wear that new banner he made with pride, Padre!

Bless ya man! OOOOooOOOOOoooOOOO

At 0345 hrs this morning I typed out a long and from the heart thank you to Dire and Pard for their warm comments and the way cool banner.. At 0615 I woke up to a stiff neck, the Energy savings feature had shut the TV off, my back was killing me, I had to whizz BAD, and the iPad was "burnt out" blank.. I didn't know If I had sent off my little work of literature till just now when I got online for the first time today... Uhhh nope..

So will start there, thanks guys.. I really appreciate it!. Pard the banner is perfect, it's a great balance to what I have now, and I'm into "braces" or pairs of pistols.. Good stuff, will figure out how to get it put up and I'll be done.. Thank you!

hi wolves! my holiday contest idea is really "taking off" and i'd like to throw some fun your way. since we are allies i'd like to share the idea with you.

mine was simple, a 7 day contest to get as many hangars as you can. you guys are some nasty turnfighters, maybe you could do a kills over deaths competition of something fun like that. you're a big bunch of fun-loving maniacs so i am sure something can be thought of. please let me know if you need any help.

Always nice to see ya! I like the idea...hangers or kills. We'll take a vote and see which the Wolves like.

Top WP secret, we are good turnfighters because we all chase our wolf tails! Shhhh....don't tell anyone. ;)

Cheers--

Interesting read. Enjoy
WOLF: Webster's (1828) describes the Wolf as "a beast of prey that kills sheep and other small domestic animals." Sometimes called the wild dog, the Wolf is crafty, greedy and ravenous. From mythology and story telling from all parts of the world, the Wolf has carried a sense of contradiction: a wild and fearful animal that can represent death and Satan; but at the same time a companion to the goddess Artemis and Scandinavian god, Odin. Throughout ancient history the Wolf was admired and respected as a symbol of strength, intelligence and courage. Neolithic artists duplicated its image on cave walls. Shamans sought its power. Even Romulus and Remus, founders of Rome, were reportedly nurtured and raised by Wolves. Eventually, this noble legend became the "bloodthirsty savage" of European lore. Many cultures included the crafty Wolf in their legends. Vereticus, king of Wales, was converted by St. Patrick into a Wolf; it was an emblem of the tribe of Benjemin; the Chinese saw the Wolf as a guardian of the heavenly palace; in Japan the Wolf was admired for its ferocity, tenacity and swift attack, and was also considered to be from heaven and to be venerated.

Fear not the darkness, for when it is just dark enough, then , and only then, will you begin to see the light of the stars.

Wolfs, the good, the bad, and the ugly.. Back in the late seventies and early eighties I was pretty wild. And when i really got into wilderness..uhh I REALLY got into it, I was a member of Earth First, ( I am NOT proud about this)!which was an ecco terrorist orginazation devoted to getting the government out of the wilderness, and opening up range land that was fenced.. While we loved the wilderness we thought tree hugging was for whips and cut down bill boards (you cut half through and let the wind finnish the job) to reclaim the view.. At that time the wolf was venerated.. A symbolic animal of the wild... Years past and i grew up, fact is the wolf is the only species that will kill what it won't eat.. Ask any rancher in a wolf introduction area about the calfs ripped from the cow, or the cows that are killed and not eaten.

In all my wilderness hiking I never dealt with wolfs or brown (grisly) bears, but I sure knew people who did, and while they all had a healthy respect for Ursis Horrablness, they had honest fear of wolfs.. Fact guys, theres a lot more to wolfs than a pretty picture on a shirt.. Just a flat killing machine that when they get blood lust will continue to kill as long as something's moving..

Don't get me wrong they're beautiful, and symbolic of all that's wild.. I have a wolf on a Mesa tatto that im thinking about putting wolf pack and a cross under.. It's the perfect Squadron name, as long as you realize what they are.. Which is scary!!

A note, ok it's a war story, but gospel, this is the story of my wolf on a Mesa tattoo, (teach Pard to take us fishing when he was a kid) so let's go back in time to 1987. I'm on a super glide heading north out of Sierra vista AZ which is home to the Army's premier signal corp research and development battalions.. I had been visiting my Brother and his wife and was now settling in for a nice hour and a half ride up to Tucson.. I didn't normally take the route that led by the bases front gate, and it was fun looking at the normal base business attractions..

Suddenly on my right I see a gathering of Harleys (sorta like a clutch of doves but louder) in front of a tattoo shop.. I was younger then and my ink was all still readable, now it's run together and prepping for the "guess the tattoo" night at the old folks home.. I backed in next to an outside oiler generator shovel head.. Shovels aren't ancient but a generator side case is unusual enough to get a lookups.. I did, then went on inside.. And almost got knocked over by the pungent smell of weed.. Obviously this is not a new smell to me but it's not often it comes in this strength.. I pantomime taking a huge breath and got a laugh out of the half dozen bike tramps that are assembled in various postures around the room.. Anybody know anything about tattoos and pot I say.. More laughter.. The owner, who i recognized because he wasn't wearing leather, says if you go next door and get us a six pack you can have any flash on the wall.. I point at the wolf on the Mesa and head out the door to the little mini mart next door.. I returned with a twelve pack, and in retrospect the fact that the artist couldn't count should have been a clue that things might not go as well as they should have.. They all cracked the twelve'r (i really do ride straight) and I sat down to get the tatt on my left calf just above "boot level" .. Life was good..

He covered the tatt, and I checked the bandages while I pulled my pant leg down.. I was in a hurry to go so I checked the typical road tramp conversation.. On the ride back all I could think of was the money I had saved and the neat new ink I'd be sporting.. Later that night after I put the scoot to bed (it stayed in the apt with me) I took off the bandages and checked mr wolf for the first time.. Guys from that moment till now I have a schnauzer on my calf..mind you it's a fine looking little guy..with a nice Mesa...and the yellow moon (only color ink I have) still looks good..but it ain't no WOLF its a schnauzer..

Note; Pics will follow advice (Detailed in pm pls) on iPad posting

I was actually considering commencing our contest at the conclusion of yours, preventing them from overlapping. I also figured the comments from your pilots would jump start ours into participation, making quite an enjoyable time.

Sooooooooo, here we go. For those of you who are not familiar with GI's contest, HB is giving away 3 $25 dollar prizes for the top 3 GI hangar bombers over the 7 day period. With everyones approval I would like to mirror that contest and do the same. Hangars vs. Kills/deaths in my opinion would help to keep the playing field somewhat even, a brilliant idea by our ally HB. As soon as I check my calendar I can provide an exact start and end date for the WP holiday contest. Subscription money for a year makes a great present any time of the year.

Who's in?

Okay, but this will be the deal. We must attempt to reach out to all the WP guys to make them aware of the contest. My thoughts are it will commence at 1200GMT on 01/01/15 and run until 1200GMT on 01/07/15. That should provide ample time to get the word out to the majority of our squad, and provide enough time for me to figure out exactly when 1200GMT is in my time zone! Hey, I'm a snake and by birth have no fingers or toes to count on.....

As for the schnauzer tattoo,pound-for-pound those little guys are bad dudes my mom had one. I'm looking forward to the pics.

And I'm in as well.. Also I want to run this by you guys.. We talk about "Squad Loyalty" .. Well I'm getting ready to put it on my skin, all the talk about my schnauzer on the mesa tattoo has me thinking it would be a perfect three piece patch.. In the world of motorcycle "clubs" a three piece patch (center with over and under rockers) was synonymous with an outlaw club.. I rode with (but never patched) the Vietnam Vets MC club.. About the time I was ready to patch I joined the Dept of Corrections and obviously had to skip patch holder status, as the VVMC is a true three piece club..

My tatto idea is my "sorta" wolf on Mesa with wolf pack rocker on top and pistol padre rocker under it.. Should be super cool, I asked myself if I was sure our pack would survive.. fact is I am, and in the worst case scenario, something to remind me of special times and special people..

Night.. I have a vest full of run pins so yeah we could have rubbed elbows, were you "guesting" in Winslow by chance, the only Prison run I made was Florence, but did toys for tots and other runs all over the state..

Holbrook Padre, I have to say two of the guards there were more like our scoutmasters than guards I actually used to write them after I got out. So when you say you work for the dept. Of corrections it actually brings back good memories oddly enough   How about the slinging bull bar in Wickenburg they had a pig roast there on Saturdays usually about 200 bikes there and always a good band

Got a kick out of the two bars that were (and stii are) across the street from each other in Wickenburg.. There's a highway that bypasses the town now on hy way 60.. My favorite bike town in AZ has always been Tucson.. Royal sports bar on Grant was a dirty dozen hangout, and of course the bashful bandit on speed way was "red and white" ..

While I was running with the VN Vets MC we sat up the Tuson VN wall with the Angels, Dozen, and Banditos all in attendances.. It was the largest gathering of three piece patches I've ever seen.. Something like 300 pistol carrying old tramps, and a couple scared RUB's.. I watched a TPD who had the bad luck to be stopped at a major intersection with a biker doing road guard.. He was looking at everything "but" the old tramp in front of him that had him stopped while those three hundred rumbled past him.. Poor guy the cars around him were looking at him to do something and of course he did the smart thing and just waited it out.. Had a red face, but wisely waited..

Wolf Pack,

Please see message from Zup. This will make it a bit harder for us to fly as a group, but seems to be unavoidable.

Dire

Hi there

I just posted on another thread about this but I will work on implementing this shortly. The most common complain is lag. It cannot be fully solved because it's the connection between you and all the other players in the game.

You have to log into the server nearest to you for faster connection. Imagine you are in California and connect to a server that is less than a mile away from you. You have super fast connection. The problem is that if someone from Saudi Arabia logs into that server (horrible speed from US), then he lags a lot and you think you are lagging too because when you shoot at this guy, he won't get destroyed for 40 seconds (until he gets the message). Lag is the connection between all the players. That's why it's impossible to solve completely.

That player should connect to the server that's fastest to him and you should connect to the one that it's fastest to you. But right now many people doesn't follow that advice and randomly connect and sometimes you get that weird super fast personal connection but an enemy that is jumping all over.

What I will have to do is eliminate all server choices, no more artois, messiness and so on. Internally they are there but you won't be able to choose them manually. I would let the system pick the fastest server for you automatically so you can't pick one that is hyper slow for your connection and slow every other player. It should mitigate lot of the lag problems I see.

Meanwhile try to pick the best 'green' speed you see listed on the world map. Also be logical. If you are in India, pick an Asian server. If you are in North America, pick the East/West coast machines and so on. It will make your connection way more stable, even if some random guy from the other corner of the world connects.

Thanks Dire! That will certainly make it difficult to fly with all of the Wolf Pack. We should all be checking into Squad Chat when we log in. Maybe it would be a good idea to see where all of our wolves live, just to see who we should be looking for on our "local" servers. I'll sure miss flyin with all my brothers on a united prowl. I wonder if we'll ever be able to do a group meeting in the little village. I wonder if squad wars will ever happen again, unless they are regional. I wonder if it wouldn't be advantageous to have a "sister" squad on every server.
I wonder what I haven't thought about. I have mixed emotions. Of course I'm still "all in" no matter what challenges we might face due to these changes. Maybe we can have Server competitions where the East meets the West, North meets South, and so on.That may just be based strictly on stats alone. I just don't know how I'll feel if I can't fly with my Pard in Arizona, or how I giggle when Squeak puts out that little oo oo oo howl, lol.
If I understand it correctly, the problem comes in when someone from India logs into an east U.S. server. I know how frustrating it can be when you're up against someone and you see the screen confirm 8,10, 12 hits on a red with no result. Then you're elated to get your kill 15 seconds later, after you've just shot down another one. Can you say Time Warp? I understand Zup is trying to improve our conditions, especially for those who have chosen to support his cause with the measly 2 bucks a month. It's just unfortunate that the Squads like The Wolf Pack, or G.I.s or any of the others, who have worked hard to create a great environment, and where such great friendships have been forged, now have to reinvent themselves so to speak.
My Pard Padre made some statements the other day where he quoted something I said about doing whatever was in our power to "git 'er done" and to make a difference. What better time to put our heads together. I'd love to hear some of what your thoughts are during this transitional time. I'm ALL IN. How about you?

That sounds like my idea of a good time.I miss those days, nothin like Arizona highways,I didn't even mind gettin hit by tumbleweeds

Blacky, our axe playing, red killing, baby brother.. WOW TEN THOUSAND KILLS.. And a rank of under 300.. I'm not positive on this but I believe you now lead the Squadron in overall Rank.. Congratulations brother.. I know how humble you are,,and that when (not if!!) you make MORAF you will always defer to our forever first MORAF Digger (that "I like to chase my tail" thing has me smiling).. In short congratulations from the heart Kevin.. In terms of straight playing ability, you are now the equal to any player on here.. Congratulations to our much loved, and respected young Brother..

Pard ..I wish you would get bored more often.. (In my best deutch land accent) "we haven vays oft maken du bored" .. For real and from the heart it's perfect !! And I like the full width look, that's going to be so cool under (or over) my current banner.. Now try to figure out how to put the rhondel up with the to full width banners.. Anyway thanks Pard, while I lounge on the old folks bench you have nailed it!!

Yep I've dodged a couple on the open road.. But my worst experience was one time right after I had crossed the bridge on lake Roosevelt.. In clipping alone with my head in the clouds.. Notice this odd dark band across the highway immediately in front of me.. Before I could squeeze the breaks I hit the queen and her hive smack dab in the center of the swarm.. Going 60 or so and my old leather jacket saved me from major issues but I still got stung seven or eight times, and it took me an hour to get the scoot cleaned..
