This release fixed a whole bunch of bugs for Android and the new Android 5.0, but most importantly it adds the new server subscription system.
As many of you know, Echoboom almost went dead since most people play the games fully free. I'm actually the only one employee at the moment aside from the graphic designer. I had to let everyone go because there was not enough income to pay servers and people.

Things are not looking good, so I have to take a stand and stop the whole free for all model (specially because 99% of complains about lag comes from people who do not pay a dime!).

I've got better connections, better servers and more focus now that I'm back to be alone, but the system has to change so that it is a sustainable game. You can continue playing free (click the ads please!) but you will get on a queue behind the paying players. When the servers begin to get full, so that lag is mitigated, not everyone will be allowed to get inside. The pilots that support the game with a subscription will have full access and no waiting time. Everyone else, may have to wait until the servers get a little empty.

This way
1) It should mitigate lag. Less people playing at the same time.
2) It should mitigate cost for us, since we don't have to pay as many servers to keep the game running.
3) If many people subscribe, we are able to add more servers.
4) Pilots that support the game with $, get better service. It was not fair to them the existing system.
5) Hopefully we can grow the Echoboom team again and remember what being able to feed a family means. I think $1.99 a month is not a big amount to keep playing the game... less than a starbucks on a single morning!

Dogfight 4.4.57 is already out on Android and making its way through all other platforms.

Thoughts for all of us.. The current problems and threats to abandon ship,.

From a cursory trip around a couple of Squadron threads im picking up major dissatisfaction with DF.. I'm sure you guys have all heard the complaints so there's no good in bringing up the negative again.. There's enough "youngsters" and some "oldsters" out there who are talking about deleting the game that we need to balance this before it reaches the tipping point and we lose our home..

My hearts breaking for Zup, can you imagine how invested he is, and trying to deal with major dissatisfaction and a lot of the fore mentioned delete talk, sadly a lot of it coming from established players.. If I understand this correctly after the demise of echo boom he's the infrastructure of DF by himself.. One person trying to hold this together against all the negative anyone could ask for.. Make no mistake, im not some lapdog "Patsy"..I could mount a legal battle against DF.. I'm one of the few who did the $5.00 lifetime a little over four months ago on the second or third day I was here.. So if I paid already for a lifetime isn't it horrably wrong that i have to pay again..

That answer of course is yes! It's wrong.. Now then pull up a chair and listen to an old white haired member of the real world.. Who cares about a measly five bucks when we're talking about something that's so important to us.. Zup or who ever could bill me that much for every month I've been here and I'd consider it money well spent.. What can you buy for a fin that gives you as many hours of pleasure as Dog Fight gives us.. The answer of course is nothing.. Top that off with how many levels or facets there are in this game, and I'm not just talking about the in game play.. I could spend as much time in the fourm as I do flying, and sometimes spend more! Ask yourself do you ever fly alone and explore, do you ever just use the simulator and just "fly" ..

Then ask yourself what the game is going to look like if there's a mass erosion.. Or if Zup gets disgusted and pulls the plug.. I'm already starting to miss a dozen of you and frankly half panicked that it could ever happen.. Guys we can't let it happen.. It's up to everyone of us to stop this "exodus" talk right now.. XO Wolf, maybe you and the Skipper could get with HB and the three of you send a letter of support to Zup, asking him what we can do to keep the ship upright, and in the meantime let's all pay the measly two bucks a month.. This is all interim stuff, and the final version will be fine.. I have every confidence in Zup that he will eventually fix what's wrong with the servers..

This bring up something that pard sent me in a pm today, a different subject, but the exact same result, The following is myrlin

Padre, we'll fight like hell but we are staying. A few folks will complain, but they always come around when they miss a good game that's about to get better.

Something REALLY special happened a few moments ago.. To appreciate this takes candor and honesty from your old geez brother padre.. Here's the honest facts.. If we lined us all up and started rating us I would be middle of the pack at most.. Yes I have moments of brilliance that sorta scare me "where did that come from" .. Yes i conserve my ammo and always try to have focused fire.. Yes I'm REAL good with my rifle.. But my head on shots are still a 40 / 60 "guess" at best.. A lot of this comes from older eyes, but what ever the case.. The fact is im an average player.. And I'm happy with that, not everyone is Red or Dire or any of you guys who keep nailing stars to your wall.. BUT something real special did happen and I'm more proud of it than the sabers are having "marshal" in my title...

I broke the 1000 mark on rankings.. And here's the best part, when I joined our pack my rank was 3,530.. I told myself I wouldn't rest till I broke 1000 and had a three didgit score.. It's been real hard.. That string of zeps that I had that night helped, but it's everything, one game at a time.. And in the three months and two weeks I've been here I finally did it.. I'm stoked right now!! it seemed the last 25 took forever, and it was a lot of win games today that finally did it,, by ONE POINT!!! Ha ha that one point doesn't bother me at all (outside of any game reversals, but I took two screen shots of the new score) which is 999 HORAY!!!

Yes I know that all,of you uber red killingmeisters have scores down under 500.. Yep I get that for my rank - three didgit rank score is sorta expected.. I think (here comes some real honesty) its because I want to earn my place along side the other Alpha wolfs.. You guys brought me in when I had one of those fleeting moments of brilliance that I have no control over when they'll show or not.. And I want to earn the right to be able to hold my head up as a (semi) equal to all of you.. Fact is I love this squadron, and it was important to me that I dropped that dismal 3,500+'rank down to under the 1K figure.. It's only by one (now!) but by golly I did it, and it took over 2500 points to do it.. So self gratuitous ego aside, please join me in celibrating something that's important to me..

Padre has a three didgit rank!! (Thank goodness for that lousy I point) Special thanks to my baby bro, who mentored his older brother, and to my pard Myrlin who I know will be a better over all player, but for the moment pushes me to fly better by being (for the moment) my equal.. We really are an example of sharpening our skills through compittion
