I'm on spring break and was hoping to bump into more NLRs by playing outside of my usual hours - guess not.

As far as the inactive members (IMs) conversation:

To me, it really doesn't matter if we have a members list fully fed with (IMs). I can see having some fluff in the numbers as beneficial for recruiting reasons. However, I really like the, as I believe Octavia calls it, "rare bird" aspect of the NLRs. Ever since that conversation, I've been even more proud to be an NLR - and my infatuation for recruiting big names has dissipated.

On second thought, I guess it does matter to me. We could limit our member numbers to 20 in order to maintain/create the "hardest to get into" squad in the game. We could even change up our tag line from "we've always been around" to something along the lines of the most selective squad ever, or the "rarest birds for a reason." I'm sure Disrupt and McFate can brainstorm some better slogans along those lines.

Who wouldn't respect the mostly quiet/hardest squad to get into?

What about it gang: Fresh new ad campaign time? We could even start a NLR thread archiving our ad campaigns.

That's my two cents. This decision is one for the officers, of course.

Are there exceptions who should remain regardless of time? ( Jas has asked that "crazy nut" remain.)

I'm rarely flying right now (rare for me is a few times a week) while I get work done irl. I've got to finish the cottage for our teenagers. It's turning out sweet! It's + 200 sqft (+/- 20m sq) with vaulted ceilings and a 100 sqft loft. It's one of those projects that was supposed to take a few weekends but it has stretched on for months. It was a +100 year old carriage barn/ shed and though it has been added to over the decades it never had a real foundation. I ended up building a new foundation under it as I went. Lol! Probably would have been easier to tear it down and start fresh. Oh well, character is good.

I'm painting the ceiling today.

The NLR has only a few active members, and even fewer who are forum-active. I actually enjoy the introverted nature of my squad. But even if I didn't, I still love the squad because of the few gems I've picked up along the way, and I'm honored to have those members, whatever few, to fly under our name.

I do like the idea of a small elite squad. I would also like to see some sort of recruit status so that we could recruit newer talented players before they get nabbed up by the plethora of squads out there with no minimum requirements. Recruit [nlr] Full Member [NLR]

In an Ideal world we would always have a full ACTIVE roster, even if it is only 20-30 members. As it stands now, the players in our squad our some of the best pilots in the game, but a lot of them don't play anymore. I just think we need a way to fill the void of pilots who no longer play as well as a way to encourage the use of the forum, so that we can all communicate easier.

Possible Requirements for recruits:

lvl 10
Introduction on the Forum is a must.
maturity
and good respectful playing style

Possible requirements to become full NLR members:

Lvl 25
10000 kills
Active on the forums (my personal favorite)
And a vote from all full members (within a certain time frame, so they don't have to wait 2 months)

Don't kick me out please...lolz ..I try to get on the forum at least 3 times a week, spring break is next week, I might get some play time in hopefully!!!

I have confidence that the integrity of the squad will continue to uphold, as it always has been; even without constraining the member requirements. The NLR has established a reputation for itself in Dogfight, and it's something that most other squads recognize and acknowledge.

Just as Luna has said, I am completely fine with a relatively low number of members, and it's not because I want the squad to seem like an "elite" squad based off utmost skill and exclusivity. We want people of character and integrity, people who can be seen as a paragon of Dogfight behavior, and not necessarily skill. We want members who can "maintain their cool" in the forums as well as the skies. So far, I believe the NLR and its members have done an amazing job in keeping this moral code!

When Luna says "gems", I believe she means we've picked up honorable, tactful, and kindhearted people; and that is what we must continue to look for. The fact that these pilots are among the deadliest in the DF skies is a big plus!

Having confidence and a feeling of camaraderie in a squad is very important, be we have to remember to stay our pride. "The most elite and exclusive squadron in DF" label, in my opinion, sounds a bit too daring and maybe insultingly forthright. Of course, this does not mean we will accept anyone who wishes to join, and it certainly doesn't mean that we are completely ignoring the applicants' skill levels. All I'm requesting is that we stay humble, as we've always been, and to never look down upon fellow players and squadrons.

As for actual requirements, I believe it would be better for officers/members who frequent the skies more often than I do to put together the specifics. What do you guys think?

I know I don't have much say here but I just wanted to voice my opinion on the subject raised here.

Because I came from a long time playing without being the you squad I saw the damn annoying ability of your pilots to shoot me down before their even in my view *cough* 420 *cough* but also the ability for them to control themselves in all situations and stay strong and continue to fight, something little pilots are able to do but all your pilots can do. I personally believe it is a matter of the personality of the pilot. The ability I mentioned above to shoot you very clearly will come with time and some people will be better but no one can play well once they lose their head.

Thanks again for allowing me to join and please tell me if you believe I am out of line voicing my opinion while I am only a very new member.

"Trouble", no way FINN, in fact it will be a pleasure for me. I don't think you will be at end. At whatever position you may be, your target should be to get at least one level up in each stat and by doing so you are are automatically moving towards higher rank.
