You are right. You can see only when authorised to do so. The site is developed by Big Joe and he can authorise. I am not hearing from him for quite some time. You can just send pm to him. I'll also pm Mcfate to talk to him and do the needful for your full authorization.

I was checking in and saw a join request from 'Biggles ' I approved him and then accidentally kicked him. He was NLR before I kicked inactive members. As per the arrangement anyone who was kicked as inactive is welcome back in. If you see him in game or requesting to rejoin, please let him know he is welcome back and approve his request.

Squad Officers: Please do not sign on any new recruits without careful consideration. It would be greatly appreciated if you would consult with other NLR officers before signing on anyone else.

If there are any names which should not be cut, let me know right away. Otherwise all who are listed here will be kicked on Wednesday. This list has been made from the in-game squad roster. Unfortunately it only shows 50 names at a time so I will not able to see all until we kick about 30 inactive members. After this first round I will make notes of all players whose stats are not currently visible and watch for a week to see which of them are not active.

Once again, At this point no one above level 20 will be cut, nor will anyone who has shown any activity (showing + kills/deaths within the last week).

Done. There will be another round of kicks on Saturday. At that point some of the inactive ones with NLR in their name Will also be kicked. On the plus side, after this there should be less than 50 in the squad so we will have room to take anyone back who has been kicked but wants to return.

"Officers": please let me know names of anyone who may not be active who should not be kicked and please do not "openly" recruit yet. It would be good to have some conversations about the direction of the squad before taking on new recruits.

Do you play daily or on weekends? If daily you can achieve the same in fortnight. Try to play zeppelin and capture the carrier game as they are of short duration as compare to BTC or BTH games. More numbers of wins will rank you up faster.

I wish I had more time to play, but it can be hard with a baby. Me Kamikaze King and Anubis took over a server for a good 30 mins the other night. They took turns dogfighting me while I was trying to hold a 7 month old who was constantly grabbing the controls. Im sure we pulled off some maneuvers that you wont find in any training manuals lol

Thank you very much Disrupt. Every member is contributing for the squad in one way or the other and it's an honour for NLR to have pilots like you. I have seen you helping other squad members with banners, you shoot well and you do the baby sitting too. That's make you all-rounder. Not many pilots have these qualities.

The squad is represented by each member. And we have not one but many guiding stars like Luna, Reid, 420, Mcfate, Big*Joe who have been playing this game for quite long and being respected for their qualities. Age doesn't matter here. You can learn from a kid and from experienced person but the point is you should appreciate with open heart what you like and express yourself in decent way.

FINN, you are a good writer. Can we ask you to post some write-up on any topic which you want to share, of-course whenever you have the time.

As to the writing topic: I teach college-level writing, which does not mean I am error free. It does mean, however, that I'm a very slow writer. And, like most, I often do my best revisions after I hit the submit button.

To answer your question: Yes. I enjoy reading quality content posts on the forum, and I like to think I have submitted a couple decent ones in the past. I'd be happy to be the NLR writer on hand. What topics did you have in mind?

If I may, I do think the first post on this thread could use a bit of a refresher. It seems we have been announcing to the DF community that our page is "under construction" for several months. From a public relations standpoint, that doesn't look all that great.

Is there someone who is still keeping up with the NLRs that could good finish that construction?

An updated and complete list of members, a squad Manifesto/philosophy/introduction and/or qualities/attributes we are looking for in new recruits all might be a better choice.

Also, someone or several of us may want to post something (or anything) on our "Recruit Thread" now and then. Doing so will bump the thread up on the first page and give it a bit more visibility.

Even if we don't get a bunch of quality attention, it shows that the NLRs are alive.

Thanks for paying attention. I have intended to fix the front page for some time. I'm still around and although I don't post much lately, I do check my PMs and read the squad thread almost daily.

You're right about the first post. I need to clean it up. Feel free to make a contribution or suggestions either here or in PM.. I'll edit it in where appropriate. Your input is valuable. The squad is what the members make of it. As far as the recruiting thread goes anytime you have something to add go ahead and bump it.

This goes for all squad members. Big*Joe and I both recently got hit with some big stuff in real life so we're not very present right now. I think we will both be back more when things settle down a bit.

NLR officers:

I maybe speaking out of turn, but I have a concern (rhyme not intended). In recent weeks, it seems we have… how do I say this… took a big hit with officers. Luna, Octavia, Big Joe, 420, and in some respects (and I chose the word respects intentionally) McFate, are largely preoccupied – 420 soon to return! In addition, AceLink and Reid seem to be disengaged from the squad. This leaves Ishan, Disrupt, (420’s return highly anticipated) and in many respects McFate as our only recruiting officers. If I am mistaken, please, by all means, correct and forgive me.

With that said, my concern is that the NLR initials are not getting much attention during game play, nor do we have that presence on the forum of being a good, solid, quality squadron which we deserve. For example, Acegirl asked about the health of the NLRs because she was finding us largely absent from the skies. I viewed her inquiry as a bit of an alarm.

My solution is this: Strong attention should be made to bringing in some bigger names into the squad. Let me be clear that I am not condoning the action of scouting members from other squads. However, I believe there are some potential, unincorporated talent out there that could use a little nudge in right direction. With that said, I do believe that there may be members in other squads that might fit well into ours, and that they could be reminded how welcomed they would be here. Gray area, I know.

Regardless, waiting for interests without a large player base may not be our best tactic.

I am reminded of the brief few days when Ghost became a member of the NLRs. That seemed to boost up our namesake –if you will – albeit before my time and only momentarily.

I’m wondering if we could brainstorm in the replies to my delicate proposal a few names that might be interested. Then, the good, and well respected names of McFate, Ishan, 420, and Disrupt could send out a few personalized and thoughtful PMs to those who are mentioned.

As an afterthought, I wonder if we could require all squad members fly with the NLR initials to promote a more lively and full presence. Of those that do not comply and don’t fly, we can consider making more room for those who may. Again, this is an afterthought and would not apply to those names already commonly associate with the NLRs.

Finn, as corny as it sounds I love reading your posts. I do agree with you, I enjoy the fact that we are a "smaller" squad (packed with talent), but as you mentioned, we have a fair amount of inactive members. It would be nice to see some more [NLR] tags on the top of the leaderboards

I personally think that this is a topic worth discussing, perhaps on the website as opposed to the open forum. If any well worded pms are drafted. I hope they are written, or at the very least proof read by you
