Ya in the stats they are very prudish when it comes to that sort of thing. But we all have the same parts ;) just some are bigger then others.lol

Michael, a good friend of mine who happens also to be a veteran Dogfight player has been raving about Sky Gamblers: Rise of Glory. Better, more detailed graphics, more and cooler planes, less annoying chat obstructing your view, (and fewer nitwitted, abusive jerks) a significantly wider range of missions, the missions equivalent to those in Dogfight more intelligently designed, no moronic head-to-head "chicken" show-downs from two miles away where whomever has the more robust wifi signal and/or better device wins 90% of the time, much more satisfying flight physics and controls such as rudder "pedals"...this is not me talking, understand, like you I've barely sampled the free version, but he's been making a pretty strong case for more thoroughly checking out Rise of Glory. Of course there are also the downsides of no chronic "connection lost", no zeppelins in carrier missions, no carriers on dry land, and a plethora of maps/settings as opposed to just the one flyspeck of terrain. But if you can get past those shortcomings he's impressed enough to have quit DF in favor of RoG. I'm not recommending that anyone ditch Dogfight, I'm recommending that anyone with Joaquin's ear see to it that he reads this post or at least knows there's one reportedly vastly superior game breathing down his neck. And where there's one there's bound to be more.

I have downloaded every decent looking flying games that I have found. I have sky gamblers and personally I don't care for it. I play it if dogfight isn't working but it does not satisfy me. Sky gamblers has too much of an arcade feeling for me. To quote the movie Back To The Future 2 "that's like a baby's toy". Dogfight doesn't try to intensify the action, the planes perform the same whether you are flying alone or in the heat of combat. Rudder control would be a wonderful option but it works fine the way it is. If I want exaggerated aerial warfare I'll rent pearl harbor or red tails. I have been around aviation as long as I can remember and have actually flown various types of aircraft in various situations and there's not much that irritates me more than people who lack this real world experience, saying that this game is too unrealistic. I understand that the carriers And tanks are from a different era and the planes of the time were not capable of hovering, but of all the "games"(not simulators) that I have played, this is in the top 5 for sure. Sky gamblers has freaking wingtip vortices! Wth? We aren't flying fighter jets here! I could go on but I'm tired of typing, hopefully y'all get the point. If not pm me and I will delve further into these inaccuracies that perplex me to no end, when I'm not "gettin my drink on".

B) I also have the game. I only play it when I can't get in to DF. I find the graphics great but something is missing. I always want to return to DF.

SplanMan: IN. Welcome. :)

Rise of Glory: I agree with Jacob and Brian. Tried it once. Doesn't hold a candle to DogFight, notwithstanding DF's many flaws. Like Jacob said, ROG is too "arcady" and impersonal. Another way to look at it: ROG is like an inflatable love doll. DF, with all its messiness, quirks, irritations, complications and contradictions, is like the real thing. :)

Another way to look at it: ROG is a late model Japanese sedan, reliable, well-designed, never breaks down.

DF is a 1995 Range Rover County Classic LWB with (at the end) blown head gaskets, leaky everything, shot suspension and failed power steering. But God I loved that truck!

DF has heart and soul. It also breaks a lot of hearts. :)

DENT: Got your Christmas present. Think blue & white gingham and a little dog. I think you'll look "OZsome" in it. There is no place like my home.

ROG is okay for a change. No strategy though. Feels more like to shoot 'em up.

Beautiful car Kane. My brother had an 86 z-28.fun and fast. I unfortunately wrote it off hitting a hydro pole 6 feet up at 100 km/ hr. lucky to be alive. Was a sad day. All the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put her back together again. I am a bow tie man myself. Just sold my 00 vette. Sold it to my brother so at least it is sorta still in my life. Car looks great. You don't see to many left in my neck of the woods. I upped your karma because I like the car :)

Guys, I REALLY need some tips to improve my gameplay. I play like a noob, despite my rank (by the way, everybody knows that rank is nothing)...
But the reason for posting is to complain: when I manage to reach a spot in these hills with a good connection (I am riding a horse, and stoped in a tree's shadow to play), for not being laggy, the server is refusing to give me a chance to play...
And when I finally get to a game, and about to win, the conection goes down!!!!!
Grrrrrrrr!

Edit: Where is Desert Rose????????????????? Perhaps he/she became upset for all that hunting that some of you fellows did in my name?... Who knows...

Lets go sleep to do some swiming and some hiking tomorrow.

And I am not drunk since friday, for health sake - and to enjoy the vacations a little bit more... Don't drink, kids!!! It shorts your life a lot!!

See you in the skies, mad old men.

I took the RED PILL!

I'll agree with you on the flight mechanics, but I think the point that wig was making is that this game is in desperate need of some attention. Build a better product and they will come. I hope they get the message LOUD AND CLEAR. This is too big to be just a hobby anymore; it's time to get some pros.

Bomber, I love ya like a rock, but...why do I feel like you reply first and read later? (if you read at all?) Pedrinho doesn't "dislike" DESERT ROSE, dude! He writes about her because he respects and admires her game skill! No joshin', Bombbuddy, you're a swell kid and a ball to play with but, no, Von Pay is not quitting the Falcons to join M.O.M! And no, Muck's candy & magazine pics were not too suggestive! And no, Ped does not dislike ROSE! Try this, B: read something head-scratchy on here. Scratch your head. Count to ten before posting. Then forget the whole topic and post something unrelated. Maybe about your favorite candy or muscle car. Bomber, I seriously do love you like you were my own kid. The one locked in the fruit cellar since he turned 12.

Tex, yes, thank you. I wasn't saying (and I even said this) that anyone should dump Dogfight for Rise of Glory. I was saying Rise of Glory is a much much much better designed game. In some ways Pong is a better designed game than Dogfight. So RoG has jet style wingtip vortices, Jacob? So what? They work! Everything in Rise of Glory actually functions! Like a $2.99 miracle! The game is more arcade style. Agreed. The game works and Dogfight is fatally broken in at least a dozen different ways, Agreed? We're not talking about inaccuracies, of which Dogfight has, oh, let's see; unrealistic flight physics, identical flight physics models for all planes, incorrect top speeds, period inaccurate aircraft carriers, (they didn't have aircraft carriers in WW1!) unrealistic ballistics, trajectory, aiming accuracy at range, range itself, machine gun magazine capacities, total absence of gun jams, paved airstrips, conspicuous absence of observation balloons and reconnaissance planes but commonplace zeppelins?!...and on and on...we're talking about inadequacies, of which Dogfight has more than it has anything else. Remedial graphics, six cookie cutter mission types, interchangeable planes, one minuscule patch of game terrain, utterly unambitious modeling and physics...and with the bar set that low virtually none of it works correctly. Imagine Dogfight with the superior graphics, terrain maps, mission variety, plane selection and control, the generally professional design detail and stable functionality of Rise of Glory...combined with the social/community aspects of DF. I didn't buy into this game knowing it was one guy's "hobby". I'd love to discuss with him ways it could be made better, but...Joaquin has yet to answer a single email or message from me.

Joaquin, if you're reading this; why is there no security measure to prevent unauthorized players from stealing squad tags? In the past week I've encountered M.O.M players called Sky Defender, T Bagg, Bumfluff, Dogface, Im de devil and at least two others. Anyone recall voting these members in? So...T Bagg can run around team killing and verbally abusing people and they have no idea he isn't a real M.O.M member...and we have no way of stopping him...but Hoagie, who IS a real M.O.M member can't get a note from Joaquin helping him access the forum so he can get his tag. But "everything should now be fine since the update". It was one of your "updates" that f*cked up the game in the first place, chief. People are now petrified at the prospect of installing your so-called updates for fear they might lose their hard-won game stats, lose sound in DF as well as unrelated apps on their phones, lose the ability to connect to the game, lose functional bomb button and joystick control (my current personal faves)...

If Rise of Glory is "like a baby's toy" Dogfight is like The Island of Misfit Toys. So...screw it. Welcome to M.O.M T Bagg, Bumfluff and Dogface!
