Coop, sorry about the seeming invisibility of your Xuan Zamora posts. Again, played him enough to know he's good. And again again, if Coop says "in" I says "in".

Is that the complete list of currently fresh M.O.M meat? Busting out these banners is beginning to give me BTSD. (Bannertraumatic Stress Disorder) Like I needed another disorder. Thanks Popsical, y'needy punk. (scroll back to page 150 for banner uploading instructions but gimme a few to dream up something suitably Popsicular for ya, buckaroo.)

Coop, the player you're talking about is Streetsbadnews. He was invited and did accept - in fact I think it was my idea - and the shaky behavior he exhibited in your game is about what I've gotten out of him since he joined. But...I've rarely seen him. We've had members join then leave, no reason we can't have a member join then give him the boot if he proves not to have The M.O.M Stuff. This was pre-tightening up on requiring more info and input before letting someone join. I wasn't thrilled with Simmo's spawn-happy tactics and he knew it...he respectfully bowed out. He's a gentleman and I still enjoy interacting with him.

To my knowledge "Streets" hasn't contributed to the thread. I guess, well, I dunno....if you see him tell him to report to HQ? Ask him to cool it on the language or drop the tag? Why do I feel like a den-mother? If anyone in here's looking to get spanked you can jack that idea right the f*ck outta yer head. (sorry Prodigies, bad form; type as I say, don't type as I do.)

Wig. Red card.I did not bow out because you disapproved of my tactics. I don't care what anyone thinks about anyone else's tactics. I bowed out because I could see that I was to become an outsider regarding a particular moral issue. Even as we flew today, you expressed fatherly tolerance for my 'alternative' view about Jon's story, as if the truth is written by him and him alone, and that the burden of evidence lies elswhere. Stolen Valour pretenders are commonplace. They are criminals.

Simmo take a deep breath. To prove a violation of a criminal law in this country (USA) a jury (an actual jury, not a semi-anonymous web forum) has to be shown actual evidence (not a lack of evidence) that convinces them BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT. And the burden of proof is on the accuser, not the accused.

Are you saying you have such evidence? If so, by all means, tell us what it is! And then report it to whatever branch of US law enforcement has jurisdiction over the Stolen Valor Act!

Thanks.

Don't worry Pedrinho. We don't understand most of what we are talking about either.. More than likely what you do not understand is not important anyway and any jokes are usually lost in translation.

allan has PMed me on occasion and asked me to translate what has been said..

I am sure some of our Spanish speaking MOM's could assist if you would need it.

*** For those who use a translator, If you keep the sentence structure very basic it helps get your meanings accross better.

A funny example (and I hope Mario will forgive me): Mario emailed me that, " I am buying cans of beans".... his translation came to me as " I am buying cannabis"
He then had to explained to me that he was not into drugs, etc.. we both thought it was funny..

Just a thought, we MOM's are here to help (or confuse the issues even more, take your pick)

Simmo, there was no "fatherly tolerance" in what I said. Methinks you have a bit too thin a skin on this issue. If you'll recall, what i said as I entered the mission mid-conversation (with you clearly already on the defensive and backed into your own, "I probably shouldn't have said anything, especially not on the forum" corner was, "Simmo, I think the forum was the right place to post your thoughts." That was it. "Fatherly tolerance"? As in condescension? In those words? Look man, I defended your right to express your views here, and in-game, and I'm doing it again now. I don't have anymore empirical knowledge of what Jon aka Duckwing was or wasn't, did or did not do, than you have and despite your indignation you and I and everyone else here hold equal evidence (as Bopes said) as to the veracity of Jon's story of his "heroic" career. Which is none. Matter of fact it was I who espoused the view that we can never know what the truth of Jon/Duckwing was. Where you get this notion of my assigning unimpeachable credibility to whatever he said I have no idea.

By the way, while we're pontificating at each other; The Stolen Valour Act lasted a whole seven years and was struck down this year by the US Supreme Court as being an unconstitutional abridgment of the first amendment. The one about freedom of speech. The freedom of speech I was defending when I said what I said about your views.

Within the last day or two there was a post from a young player, danGER, who said something more eloquent than any of our backing and forthing about legitimacy of so-called heroics, the truth (as if any military action is ever based on "the truth") or whether Jon was G,I. Joe or another online con artist. I'll paraphrase danGER, "What this whole 'Duckwing Day' has taught us is not about one person who died, it's about this community and how supportive and generous of spirit it is." Pull your personal indignation about "stolen valor" out of the equation and show me the moral gray area in that.

I still respect and defend your right to express your opinions. In my opinion stolen valor is a crock, especially if the valorous act involves ending a life. You ready to defend my right to express that view about your dead friends? Red cards notwithstanding I fear you've been sold a much bigger bucket of clams than the one Jon - if he wasn't what he said he was - sold us. There are numerous military vets in this squad/club/clan for whom I'd stop a bullet and who might not think too highly of my take on all this. Maybe that's the ultimate point of M.O.M; I believe there are those here who'd stop a bullet for my pacifist Marxist Buddhist ass, as well. Genuine valor cannot be stolen. You diminish your fallen friends by characterizing it as something so easily copped.

This may or may not be long and rambling...Simmo, I'm not going to say you're right or you're wrong, same goes for everyone, we all live in free, democratic countries, so each is entitled to his or hers opinion and the right to voice it. Was Duckwing spinning us a tale? We will never know one way or the other, but read back to my post a few days ago, re: Obamas closed media visit to Walter Reed Hospital, it's known he awarded one purple heart, to whom and for what has not been divulged, he met with a number of wounded service personnel, it is known that amongst those he met with was a marine who lost three limbs to a IED. Now we can find nothing out about Jon, we don't know why, this visit by Obama was closed to the media, that means the government did not want anyone to know something and think on this, Obama visiting and awarding a purple heart, would be great PR for him and his party in view of the forth coming elections, yet it has not been used as such. So two enigmas, that may or may not be tied to each other, we may never know. In Westminster Cathedral, lies the tomb of the unknown soldier, know body knows who he was, or what he did, he may have been a hero, he may have cowered in a corner when the whistle blew to go over the top of the trench, but he lays there in the tomb, the personification of all those who gave up their life that others could live, work and think freely. So for everyone here Jon has become that unknown soldier in the tomb, giving up his life for the freedom of others, so let's honour him as the personification of all those who gave their life, their limbs, their sanity for the freedom of others. Who was Duckwing? He was every grunt, he was every marine, he was every airman, he was every sailor, who has ever fought, suffered and died, be it friend or foe.

Now so far as I can tell, nobody here has taken offence toward you, so you are welcome to come visit and chat, pass some time, have a chuckle, so can I suggest to everyone, let's shake hands, hug if you want to and continue to be friends.

Sorry if that's a bit of a ramble, I'm not given to eloquence like Wigbomb.

While I'm here, can we please grab dibley with both hands, good player and good chap all round, he posted a way back, but seems to have been overlooked.
Also be on the look out for clay god, wig will bear me up on him, he's in his thirties and excellent player.
Ok I'm going back to sleep.

Wow.

In a btb mission one or two hours ago, I was alone against a horde of seven reds - two or three of them was aces (sadly, I don't remember their names, I have only 8 kb of memory in my brain... But I remember seeing two MOMs, at least).
I decided not to shoot reds to avoid having tanks bombing my base; and when I finally managed to reach their base on tank, and when I bombed five hangars, I became so excited with the real possibility of a spartan victory (1 vs 7) that I lost control over my tank: it turned upside down, and I became stuck. If not for that, I would certainly win. So, it would be nice if Zuper fix this issue about tanks turning upside down so easily, as if they were made of paper...
I am drinking a beer for the memory of that battle, anyway... :woohoo:

My first name is Pedro. In English, it would be Peter. "Pedrinho" is like "little Peter" - in Spanish, it would be "Pedrito". I learned that, in English, the "little" form of almost every name is made by putting "y" in the end (Tomy, Betty, Mommy, Dady, an so...); in Portuguese, this is accomplished by puting "inho" (for male) and "inha" (for female). So, Pedrinho = "little Pedro".
I live in Minas Gerais, Brasil. If you need my full address for something (good), let me know. ;-)

Sheibe, I don't think fudgepops is a prodigy. I believe he's older. I could be wrong.

Fudge, I saw in an earlier comment you posted in a different thread that you were in Iraq and was shot in the foot? Is that correct? What's your age?

Stopping yourself from flipping over is half the fun of a tank, you just gotta fine tune your control, especially as you come over a ridge, think about how you would steer a car in to a skid/slide. Anyway if tanks were that easy, games wouldn't last long :cheer:

I do fine tuning, but a tank is not supposed to be driven like a low-weighted vehicle like a car.
It's a matter of physics, Muck. The tanks are too low-weighted, too "paper", even for a game. A tank is not supposed to jump so high and so far as they do in game; and my tank turned upside down by simply going under one hangar, I was not talking about going down mountains...
Thanks anyway (tanks anyway lol), I will avoid being too close to a hangar or to a wall next time...
