I saw everyone posting about it so I gave it a try and have enjoyed it. My WoT to DF ratio is about 100% to 0% right now. I hadn't seen anyone I recognized on the game so I've stopped looking too hard. I assume the guys that started earlier all have tier X tanks. My highest is tier V.
As far as tips, maybe Wig or one of the other guys can open a thread under MOM and lay them down. I really don't want to deal with another forum. I did have someone try to friend me (_DallasCowboys_) but I didn't know who they were and I hate the Cowboys. So, I logged off quickly, hid in a corner and will tell an adult about it later.
The questions I have are why do some tank icons in the upper left/right show grey and some blue? I've heard a blue tank is someone that has fired on friendlies but I would assume they would turn blue on top of the tank (instead of green and red). You can actually see what I mean in the pictures RR posted. Also, would love to know the best tanks at each tier.
I've found that it takes more skill to work the light tanks (diamond icons, right?). You really need to use as a scout or loop around the map to the back to have a lot of success against the bigger tanks. I'm not good at moving and shooting right now (side note - this hurts me in DF, too). The inverted triangles are the tank killers and they are boring but fun (huh?). You have to sit back with these and wait for a tank to appear and kill from distance. The one shot kill is a blast (see what I did there).
The diamonds with the one strip are medium tanks and are the most fun to me. Can move and have some fire power. The diamonds with the two strips are heavy tanks and I'm just getting to use them. There is a DW2 (?) tank in the German line that SUCKS! I'm fighting through it right now just to get to the next one. Just got the T1 tank and it's a beast. Just don't get someone shooting behind you. With the heavy tank I sit back and wait for the action to develop and then lay in fire from a distance.
You really have to use the terrain and shoot and hide. For the light tanks, you have to move and use cover and look for shots in the rear (who doesn't like a good shot in the rear?). The biggest asset early is the sharpshooter mode that shows you the enemy tank in shades of red. Shoot for the non-red parts and if you don't record damage move to another spot.
In other news, everyone see Luna's goodbye post? You should drop over there and say your goodbyes...great kid.
Consider yourself friendified, Rob. Shall I add you to the M.O.MBlitz Roster? I don't like to assume but...I assume most M.O.Ms will still be M.O.Ms over there even though being in a clan doesn't accomplish anything in terms of game play, it's purely a social designation thus far. Silly, huh?
Can you imagine? A MMO game with well established clans wherein the clans don't get to play as clans against other clans? They're talking about Clan Wars being in the pipeline but the game has been around for, like, a few months. What's the holdup? Ah well, patience; not like dicking around trying to implement inter-clan play could take a year! That'd be ridiculous. No game that poorly run could survive for long.
As to tips, Rob, you have it well in hand, clearly. Best-in-Tier tanks I'm aware of are the Tier IV Hetzer TD, the Russian KV-1 heavy in Tier V and the KV-1S in Tier VI, the Russian IS and American T29 heavies in Tier VII, beyond which it becomes more dependent on personal taste, playing style and tank class preferences. I die equally as bloodily in all of the above, and in anything below the above.
I don't know that I ever see the color change you describe. I've confirmed that there are minor differences in the look of the game between Apple and Android, if you're on an ipad check with some fellow Appleheaded M.O.Ms.
Hey Jimbo, what's your IGN in WoTB? I'll hit you with a friend thingy. Jim, Ed/Rudolf, throw me the high sign for inclusion on the tank-a-M.O.M roster, please.
