Rollin' with the "T"

Just came back from seeing Independence Day 2. Very cool in 3D. Not sure if it was better than the original as that was very good to me...worth seeing though I thought.

I'd like to see a Stargate sequel too...

Those were two really good movies from the 90s as far as sci-fi goes.

This has been another edition of Comet at the Movies eh!

Probably dogfacesoldier or another player that's been banned and is back could be that Marcus faust or whatever his name was that says he's back to finish something. the best thing you cqn do is pay no attention to him like he's not even in game that will piss him off even more, he's just looking for a response from anyone that gives it to him.

Btw i love the smell of varnish on a Sunday morning.

Been waiting to see that one. Like you I love the first, Wife gets ticked because I turn it on every time it's on TV. Stargate is in my opinion one of the best as Sci-Fi flicks of all time.


Now when I watch it, it reminds of how old I'm getting. To see James Spader with long blonde hair compared to the bald head he now sports on the Black List, just doesn't seem that long ago!

The last couple mornings my Daughter and I went up in the power chute just before Dawn to catch the Sunrise. She got some really good pics, haven't uploaded them yet. Yesterday it was kind of breezy so I was busy keeping us flying straight.

Today we decided to fly up to a big lake about an hour North of here. Weather was perfect, just cruising along about 1000 feet enjoying the scenery below. We get to the Lake, flew around it for a while and my Daughter comes on in the headset " I think I smell gas."

Looked at the fuel gauge, sure enough we were losing fuel. Looked back over the engine and finally spotted a little stream of vapor.
"Crap, that's not good." Started looking around for a field and I see this little strip mall kind of place. Big parking lot, 4 cars in the whole place. Could see a gas station down the road a bit, so I decided that's where we were landing. Eased up on the throttle and drifted down. Landed right in the middle. Perfect!

Get out and look, the rubber fuel line had a small split, easy fix but I needed some pliers to get the clamp loose. All at once my Daughter says, " Here comes a cop." Old guy pulls up and gets out, " Having problems?" Thought " No we just wanted to go shopping Duh!"

Explained the situation, he said he lived a couple streets over and would go get us some pliers and a gas can. Left and a few minutes later he comes back with the pliers and 5 gallons of gas. I quickly fixed the hose while he chatted with the Kid. He asked me if that was enough gas, told him another 3-4 gallons would be great. He took off and came back with another full can.

When I asked him how much I owed him, he smiled and said," Not a thing. You gave me something to do this morning, been pretty boring." He asked a bunch of questions about the power chute saying he had never seen one. After chatting a while I thanked him and asked again if he was sure I didn't owe him anything. "Nope not a thing, have a safe trip home."

We rolled the cart around and fanned out the chute, put the power to it and took off. All the while he was waving goodbye. Flew back to the air field with no problems. All the way back my Daughter and I were talking about what a nice guy he was and it just goes to show,
Not all Cops are bad! All in it was a good Morning. ⚡️

Great story, you just restored my faith in humanity. It won't last long, I will be dealing with rock truck drivers tomorrow.

First off...and better late than never, Comet...I hope all goes well with your son. No saint here, but not everyone who has dabbled in such lifestyles is doomed. Glad to hear that it isn't heroin or pain pills, as it seems those are the ones that have a hard time pulling themselves out of a tailspin I had great words of wisdom when I read your post, but then all that went out the window with Friday's pictures. Seems I turn into Homer Simpson looking at a donut on that day

Movies...it's funny thinking about movies that were really cool when we were young, but would be weak, cheesy, and sad. My brother and I were just talking about it over the weekend. I have never seen "The Last Dragon" which he says I hafta see it (more ridiculous than Big Trouble Little China lol), but we both agree that Krull would be considered a good movie back then but sucks now I am hoping that my son and I will watch the original Tron movie, hoping that it stands the test of time.

What is your great movie back then that would be awful now?

I ran into an old Misfit not too long ago, who would not reveal his identity. I can totally respect that as I have changed my name before when out of the Misfits, but he talked about the days of wearing speedos AHAHAHAHA Now THATS going back in the day! Geez, has it been that long ago?

Sir Ripper...I had to Google PowerChute as I was not keen on anyone climbing into mine, but then saw what you were referring to. Da*n, I need to get out and live life more, but that thing you are flying doesn't come equipped with "oh sh*t bars" to grab. Thing looks AWESOME but how safe are they? I don't think there is anywhere to fly one around here without being run over by something bigger (5 mins outside Philadelphia airport).

Well Brother Slatz, it's about as safe as it gets. You're flying a parachute! Engine quits you float back down, landing without power is a bit rough. The only real worry is the chute, it fails and you're a big rock. But, when we first traded our Ultra light for it we bought a one time use Emergency chute. Just a big canister that deploys a full canopy.

Of all the things I have ever flown in, this is the best. Basically kicked back in a seat, music on in the headsets, and the cool air aloft is about like sitting in a well air conditioned room. I've got an elliptical chute instead of the square canopy which gives you a little more speed and much quicker turns. Top speed is about 43 MPH. Draw back is, you don't fly when it's windy. And as for running into other aircraft, you just drop down to about 100' and let them pass. Only close encounter I ever had was flying with 2 other guys, We turned in behind one guy to do a touch and go and flew through the prop wash of his machine.

Chute collapsed and we dropped about 50 feet real fast then a huge JERK! When our chute re expanded. Ever get around Ohio call me, we'll go for a cruise!

Well it's official. Torn medial meniscus in my right knee with a bunch of blood and fluid around it. Surgery is scheduled for the 25th. Be nice to have a couple weeks off, but it's gonna suck not being able to do anything.

Funny how there seems to be a bunch of new players in DF1 now...not sure why that is with the game about to die any day...but I was on a dream team tonight with a Squad Leader, a II Squad Leader, and a Group Captain. We were in a BTC against MEAN and then Acegirl showed up on his side...think he also had a Group Captain and a pretty decent Air Vice Marshall. I can't remember the ranks exactly, but I think they had a slightly better idea on what the mission was.

The two Squad Leaders on my side were very deadly snipers for their rank...they got me the first 3 times I took off...then it was the Group Captain's turn, and he made the most of it by shooting me from behind, just before I could blow up Mean's tank...I gotta say, not even 5 minutes in and I'm 3-8...these guys were killers for sure. Oh, and then they would crash for no reason at all and then time their spawning just perfect so I would hilariously crash over and over and over again. These guys were professionals I tell you.

I just couldn't get into any rhythm in this one...I'd get the Vice Marshall, then the Group Captain, then boom! Brought down by a team mate. Next run, get Mean, kill him in his chute, boom! Shot down by a team mate.

If the object was for them to relentlessly team kill me rather than bomb the boat, we would have kicked serious ass in that game.

"If you guys could shoot someone on their side instead of me all the time, that would be great."

That did it for me...enough for one night. I didn't get a screen shot, I was too busy getting shot. I don't think I've been in a game like that since I was a Second Lieutenant and I may have shot Wig...blue of course...ah, the good old days...
