I can smell this one coming.......if I may put my 2 cents in.....I noticed alot of complaints about bomb droppers lately. It used to be spawnkilling, then it used to be wrong to go up high and then dive bomb on a hanger etc...etc....when does it end lol....There are many different ways to play dogfight and bomb dropping is one them......"WE" bombdroppers have a certain way we play. Its for the team, atkeast it is for me and I am sure it is for many others too.......Most bomb droppers are chasers and thats their style.....I first started chasing back when I realized I couldnt shoot straight all the time. I was always getting ahot down and so I started learning other ways to help the team. Thats when I started to chase/bomb drop........Back before I stopped playing, my so called "bomb dropping" helped win many many games..,...Alot of players would speak on my behalf if they read this....So as long as there are "hanger bombers" and "bomb droppers" the game will always be won by somebody....Now that I am back to playing, I will show you (as long as the lag stays away from me....lol)
Good points. If Zup had not intended people to fly "above the traffic", he would have put the ceiling on the game at 1500 ft. So clearly it's acceptable to do so as a tactic. OTOH, he didn't want tanks sitting on runways spawnkilling planes, or snipers on carriers doing the same, so he fixed those situations. Spawnkilling tanks are still a problem but not as bad as before.
I have no problem with bomb-droppers. I never drop since that's the only thing I do well, but for folks like Jackson it makes perfect sense. My reflexes are very slow, I'm lousy at aiming, and I have bad eyesight and evidently don't see enemy planes very well, so dropping and chasing would make no sense for me.
IMHO, the only unforgivable sins are spawnkilling, especially from a tank (from the air isn't good when it isn't to support a bomb run or something like that), or shooting down teammates. High altitude bomb runs, dropping/chasing, air support, etc., are all fine...they just require players to be on their toes. Spawnkilling and shooting down teammates ruin the game, IMHO.
EDIT: I *will* add that I hate seeing a bombdropper when I'm on a bombing run. It usually means I'm dead about a second or two later.
