"The Guns of August" is essential reading in the WW1 canon.

I failed to add Susi-Harakiri to the list of my recruiting frenzy candidates. Susi has little English but Google Translate is getting the job done for us. Votes?

No boasting, or blowing of ones own bugle, trumpet, strumpet, especially strumpet, there are old clowns here who may have given up on that sort of thing, the blowing of bugles and trumpets that is. ;)

Where do you find the album, I made an account, and spent 20 minutes looking for the album to get my banner. Sorry if I sound stupid and the album was probably in my face the whole time.

SheiBe Kopf wrote: Hey everyone,

I was curious (like oedius) . We are rapidly approaching 80 members. Are we going to put a cap on this Squad? How many members are enough and do any of you think there is a " Jumping the Shark" point of having too many members ? Only because this is a unique squad of older players.. Our mantra of Rule by no Rules may get lost. We will have members that we forgot were even members anymore .( remember our brain cells) we already have a few members that we never see or hear from. They may have lost interest in the game or our squadron.? Are we trying to over prepare for Squad Wars, of which may never happen?

I was always for quality and not quantity and we have that with everyone on our Squad. ( well I got in by default , RHIP).

What are your opinions? Everybody has one, they are like..... You know!! Again, just curious .

Did you actually want any actual opinions? I've been mulling this over for a few days now, I was thinking to myself in a worried fashion, I worry a lot sometimes, often about inconsequential things like the world ending, the sun going nova, burning the toast while making the coffee. But this one is a really serious worry, where was I....oh yes, I was thinking that it could get to the point of being in a game and thinking who the hell is that with the MOM tag, do I know them, is it real, do I great them as a fellow MOM (real) and I wonder what will happen to this thread, to it's warmth and spontaneity (thank god for spell check), it's closeness and feeling of family/friendly familiarity. It worries me, we don't want to lose that, it's one of the things that makes this squad great and the best of the rest.
Just my umble opinion.

Oh and MOMland is about 10 miles by 10 miles = 100 sq miles. Then factor in the virtually reality virtualness, say times 100 and it's about right. Probably. I think.

Thank you wig bomb for taking the time to make this banner. Does this mean I'm in the squadron? How do I Join? Also what does it mean that I'm a Prodigy? Is that bad or Good?

Doesn't seem to be anyone else around. If our master of banners has made you a banner then you is a member, if you don't have the MOM tag over your name go to tools/join squadron scroll till you find MOM and click the little circle thing, that's it! Oh and welcome to the asylum. Prodigy means you report to the illustrious Sputnick, leader of prodigies, take some skittles with you, his last ones got soggy :cheer:

Muckers, I think we all share the concern about the thread losing its tight knit vibe should we take on too many members. Tex has expressed similar apprehension regarding the diluting of M.O.M's "elite" player status. It strikes me that we've been around just long enough now, and taken on enough members, that we've already had time to test the formula. So far, so good. Look at the roster: of the now nearly eighty members of M.O.M (more than twenty of whom are in the Top 100) I count forty to forty-five who rarely or never post. Of the remaining thirty five to forty only about half post frequently and only half of that half are the core, consistent contributors. I'm hoping we'll hear more, not less, from some members but I feel fairly confident that the MOMness will remain intact no matter how many thousands of members we sign up. Also, we've lost half a dozen along the way. It's a swap: the kick that you get from seeing a MOM in-game diminishes as the membership grows, but the dominance of MOMinance grows proportionately, a whole other kind of kick. I'm waiting for the moment when a mission starts and all eight players are M.O.M's, that'd be off the heezy fo' sheezy! Or so my Irish granddad liked to say. He also said, "Oi Recky, doncha wont anudder pace uv appul poy?" For an Irish dude I don't think he drank enough...

Re squad size: "too big to fail" has a nice ring to it. I think that's in rule 6 somewhere as an officially unofficial alternate replacement squad motto. :)

All eight players MOM's! Perish the thought, we'd be at it all week, imagine! A mission that takes a week to play......

Im not against the size, just don't want to lose the way of the thread...is that a movie title I see before me.

IN on Susi Harakiri. I dig the name. Sounds like it should be a band, if it isn't already. :)

BTW, is it just me or is the dogfight banner at the top of the page now displaying with a half-green horizontal tint??

Nopes Bopes, I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary in the Dogfight banner's colors. Grassiness in the lower left, cloudiness in the middle, skyiness in the right, fake lens flareiness in the upper right, planeiness in all of the above. Clockwise that would be green blue white blue white.

I'm changing my game name to X*RECRUITINGJUNKIE*X. I just pitched OH-MYGOD (#70-something in the Top 100) who says he's a Falcon, isn't flying their tag, "wants free" and happens to be...ready for this?...older brother of M.O.M's Samurai Sylph, Lesa!!! Who TF knew? Since we're soon to be brothers-in-law there's a fair shot at getting him in.

LADIES & GENTLEMEN (and DENT) WE HAVE A PROBLEM!
I was just inspecting the heads (restrooms) which the prodigies are supposed to keep clean and this is what I found:

SPUT was supposed to be working...instead he's just trying to look "pretty"!
Our kids....they grow up too fast.

What should we do?

Wow, that's freaky, B. Nothing like it has ever appeared on the forum for me.

Yeah, OH~MYGOD is really truly Lesa's real life flesh and blood elder bro! In what English he could manage he said, "She is just litel girl. 27 year." Too cute. He gave every impression of being a decent sort and the family connection should help. Learning that Lesa and I are "friend" didn't hurt. He promised to ask her about M.O.M, I'm sure she'll give us the Japanese version of thumbs up.

An iPhone 4s. Still seeing the anomaly BTW.

Yeah I read GoA years ago. I might get a fresh e-book version of it. Reads like a good novel.

Say hey to our newest sucker...er...member of M.O.M: Susi-Harakiri has just confirmed, she's in! Who here is conversant in Japanese? Lesa, are you reading this? It might help get Susi through the tag and banner processes to have something better than Google Translate as an info conduit. Any "out" votes? Susi is a rank 15 Air Commodore I with a 2:1 K/D ratio and the best numbers in her rank. She's also very sweet. I've played with her plenty, no doubt in my mind that she'll rank up fast.

No to the first question. :) the anomaly doesnt otherwise seem to intererfere with anything. No noticeable problems with other media.

It is weird though, especially since no one else is seeing it..
