So, as the hours tick away on this Wednesday the 26th, I realize that tomorrow is Thanksgiving, the day of the year upon which we try to concentrate on contentment, peace, gratitude, and preparing for the day after, on which we madly trample all who are in our way to provide the most brutal example of mass consumer greed. So, prepare for preachiness, and read this sappy mess of a post if you dare.
In hindsight, this has been a... Weird year. It doesn't feel like it's been a year since last year, but it's been a long year, at the same time. Time is like that, you know.
I started this year at one of the lowest points of my life. Now, I'm at one of the highest, and this community, and especially M.O.M and Gunners Inc, has played no small part. I've found my niche, the place where I belong, both in the virtual world and the real one.
I'm thankful that I was given a chance here. I'm thankful for Rick's kindness and helpfulness, with the mutual respect we've gained for each other. I look forward to the continuance of our friendship.
I'm thankful for my incredible family: my parents have been together for 21 years through thick and thin and I have a great relationship with each and every one of my siblings.
I'm thankful to cheer for a team that's been relative for almost 25 years. I'm thankful that we're dominant in our division, so I can mock the rivals' fans. I'm thankful for tomorrow's great slate of games.
I'm thankful that I've never missed a meal, never gone without, and while our family is well below the poverty line, we're blessed with all the conveniences of the modern world.
I'm thankful that for the first time, we've had the same three working vehicles for over a year.
I'm thankful for so much more. But M.O.M certainly makes the top 100 list. And so do each and every one of those who have helped me along my actually-surprisingly-real virtual way.
Get back to me in 24 hours, when I'll have the list of things I'm not thankful for. Black Friday, amirite?
Have a wonderful day tomorrow,
Mac
