M.O.Ms, how to go about thanking you lot for all the generous, compassionate support throughout the past few difficult months? I can't. So tahellwitya.
I've poked my head up long enough to post a couple banners and to see the steady influx of kind words here and in PMs. Seriously, I can't thank you all enough. I'm deeply grateful to all the Non-M.O.Ms who've taken time to post or write, as well. Luna, horriblebreast, bzerkbzerk, Zebraup, so many others. I stopped counting thoughtful PMs and emails when they hit triple digits... it's been overwhelming. If I failed to name you here it's either because I haven't yet seen your post or have replied to your PM/email privately.
I've been asked where I stand with Dogfight since I all but stopped playing a few months ago and made clear my position on the paid "premium" servers announcement. I'm sure I'll drop in for a mission now and then but after nearly three years with virtually no progress in the game's design and performance, and, in fact, a marked worsening of the stability of the app, I can no longer justify burning the time on it that I once did.
However, I have no intention of scaling back my time here on the M.O.M thread. Moving forward from this week or next I plan on being around as much as or more than ever. My thanks to you guys for keeping it active in my absence, that's how M.O.M rolls.
I discovered Dogfight as one of many low budget boutique games of equal (or, often, higher) quality. Had I not fallen into the company of ScheiBe, B, Bopes, Tex, beatea and the rest of the founding MOMbers I would long since have dropped the game flat. It's always been the forum and the social component of Dogfight that's kept the game itself from dying on the vine with thousands of other limited entertainment value products. It's been M.O.M, to a large extent, that's driven the growth of the forum. Pre-M.O.M this was a sleepy little site. In the subsequent couple years you've raised the stickiness bar, sparked tons of activity and given every single-digit IQed jagweasel something to obsess on. Even a petty jagweasel needs a hobby. (T minus 10 to jagweasel retaliatory posts. 9...8...7...)
I'd be remiss if I neglected to thank Mac for keeping the fukwit contingent occupied when they didn't have me to be juvenile at. (and for keeping me updated and not entirely de-looped.) It's nice to know we're all in each other's good hands. Gratitude too to the Star Chamber. The one of which you are a member, Cricket.
I mean the hands thing figuratively.
Thanks M.O.M. I love you guys.

My favorite one is when I do something and become a Jackass, a douche, and an immature slew of other totally unoriginal names, and the moment someone else is just as asinine, they become a good brother. Raging hypocrisy, that's the trademark of this forum sometimes.
For instance, Goddo and I were flying last week, when a certain player joined as blue. I'll call him player X. Also as blue was some random player I'd never met. Player Y.
"Hey Fella", said player X
"Hey," I replied. "How goes it?"
"Not you," said player X. "I was talking to Y. One"
He bombed, then quit.
I'm sure he's very proud of himself for sticking it to the big, bad, M.O.Ms.
There's only one thing to do, really: continue to treat them as I always have. I'll attempt to be friendly, honest, honorable, and in the face of sucn unreasonable raging criticism by association, I'll just ignore them. I hold the greatest respect for several pilots who seem to have it fixed in their heads that I don't like them, if only purely by association.
Sorry, had to get that off my chest.
