But just so you know, Cinco deMayo isn't a Spanish holiday.. it's a Mexican one & not even known as Cinco deMayo in Mexico. From my understanding it's a celebration for when a small number of Mexican soldiers spanked the French army who were trying to take over.. then people from that area of Mexico immigrated to the USA and brought their holiday with them that America whole-heartedly adopted! After all we love a good underdog whoops up on the bad guys story as well as any excuse for a holiday that requires copious amounts of beer!

The one in my banner is of course the 1000th Sopwith Camel F.1 produced that was specially painted with a 'Wings of Horus' paint job.

Ahhhh i get the nieuports confused for some reason thats the only plane i have trouble remembering which nieuport is which

The pilots of the Lafayette Escadrille – Americans flying for the French air service – had a pretty good selection of mascots – dogs, cats, Esther the civet cat, and a fox. But the most famous of the Escadrille’s mascots were the lion cubs Whiskey and Soda – that’s Whiskey, above, gnawing on the ace Raoul Lufbery as Soda and pilot Douglas MacMonagle watch. Whiskey was “… a cute, bright-eyed baby who tried to roar in a most ferocious manner, but who was blissfully content the moment one gave him a finger to suck.” Unfortunately, Whiskey later made the mistake of eating the Escadrille’s commander’s expensive new uniform cap, and the lions were exiled to the Paris Zoo. But they’re commemorated on the Lafayette Escadrille Memorial at Villeneuve l’Etang near Paris with life-sized sculptures.

Upon request I have been instructed to give you a heads up on my status as a Lafayette pilot.
I will not be leaving upon the cause of helping a fellow pilot build up his squad, I repeat WILL NOT BE LEAVING LAFAYETTE.

I'm officially below 500, (498) but don't know how to post the screen capture, and I'm probably only there for 15 minutes, lol. It takes a long time to go from 1000 to 500, so to all MORAF's ... My hat is off to you for all the time and effort you have put in. That's why y'all shoot me down so much! ZebraUp gave me instructions on how to add a photo, so here it is.

as for posting the screen capture, you will need something like photobucket or tinypic or some other picture hosting service/app.. then just upload your screenshot to the host and it will generate links to the pic... use the one that starts with [IMG and ends with /IMG]
*same as your banner's link..

Hey 9000, that's up to the pilots in the squadron.. to become Lafayette first off you can't already be in another squadron.. then all it takes is 2 of our pilots to recommend you and then you're in.
