It took a while to pick only one...it was eve harder to leave the work he did with Ella Fitzgerald out of it.... But if I wanted to show someone who had never heard him who Louis Armstrong was, I might start here. I don't think New Orleans has ever produced any finer of a musician, although it might be hard to prove.

New Orleans Jazz started out as music played in the whorehouses. Not exactly considered very "cultured" in its day. But, even though I grew up redneck, I was lucky enough to have some people around me that passed on to me their love for a LOT of different music. Then, like books, one thing leads to another, and you find all kinds of new things you never knew existed.

In the mean time, our jukebox has a lot of stuff in it. Maybe this will suit you better Jason. Enjoy!

Oh yes jack that's the food for my soul lol. I think every kind of music is Important just because I don't listen to one kind of music doesn't mean that it doesn't have it place. I prefer the classic country but there are songs from all genres of music that have moved me in one way or another. I think we all need to step outside our comfort zone once in while who know we might like it .

We deal with the whole spectrum of people here. Gun toting, government distrusting, right wingers? They are welcome. Tree hugging Prius driving Lefties? We love them too. One big thing we don't worry about here is who or what one chooses to or not to worship (although we don't mind if you talk about it, as long as it's not said in a condemning or condescending manner to others), and we don't talk bad about who or what someone spends their "personal time" with as long as it's consentual and between adults. (Hey MOM's, how old does a sheep have to be to be considered an adult again???). Anyway, that's one big part of our "no personal attacks" policy. There are plenty of things in this world that are worth getting up in arms about that are happening on the grand scale... We don't need to bad mouth each other as individuals, or make each other feel like dirt over bs that doesn't matter.

OG. You're gonna have to take my word that I didn't look this up. Although I'm going to after I finish posting. I'm pretty sure Otis Redding was from Macon, GA. Sitting on the Dock of the Bay was written by him and Steve Cropper (of Booker T & the MG's) and the instrumentals were played by Booker T and the MG's, house band of Stax records in Memphis.

Off to Wikipedia to see if I'm right about where Otis was from... I know the rest by heart.
