here's a quick story about me being a dufus...i was at work the other day and was making a big vat of sweet and sour sauce. that sauce is mostly just vinegar and soy sauce and ketchup, but it needs to thicken so you add cornstarch.

we have several products with similar packaging so i thought i knew what i was doing! i opened the box and mixed the powder with water to make a slurry. i then added it to the near boiling vinegar mixture and FOOOOM!!!

i was shocked...flabbergasted. i couldn't figure out what had gone wrong. i then looked over and noticed i didn't choose a box of corn starch, i had picked up a box of baking soda! the boxes look identical so at least i have that going for me. haha so i got to live out every 5th grade science student's dream to make a huge volcano. FOOOM!!

the moral of the story is.....well at least i got paid to make that huge mess.

A duffus story to share with you all.. Before I made Lieutenant and transferred to one of our smaller prisons I spent years as a Sergeant in Arizona's big apple "Florence Prison" that's where this story happened .. It was a range re qualification day.. We had finished our handgun, rifle and shotgun phase and it was time for "special weapons" these are defined as CS and OC gas, flash bang grenades, and a small amount of the gas grenades that "bounce" (so inmates can't pick them up and throw them back at you) .. I loaded my 40 MM grenade rifle with what "I thought" was regular tear gas.. Gave a short verbal about using the wind to assist the gas then took careful aim and shot off A BOUNCING BETTY .. This would have just been mildly embarrassing, BUT in placing the round to use the wind, i shot it close to the hundreds of bails of straw that made up our hogans alley shoot don't shoot section.. The bouncing Betty started jumping around dispersing its gas and small explosions and of course "bounced" right into the hay bails.. The next explosion started the fire and it was fully engulfed in about the time it takes to say "I think I just set the range on fire" .. From that day forward I enjoyed the distinction of being the "Sergeant who set the range on fire" .. Oh yeah and I had to get the inmate fire department out to put out the fire, which produced a smoke cloud visible in space.. THAT was embarrassing !

In edit.. I'm thinking about Squeak and Viper who are both LE and have experience with what i described.. LOL.. Top that story gents!

I have volumes of embarrassing tales.one time stands out in my memory. I once attempted to bury our cat on the side of the house and in my ignorance struck the gas line with the post hole digger I had chosen for the job breaking it cleanly and filling the neighborhood air with the smell of gas which of course brought out all of my neighbors to see what was up. After the call to the Gas company to inform them of the dilemma a small army of back hoes dump trucks and service trucks was dispatched to my street. After much well deserved razzing from the techs and neighbors they asked if I still wanted to put Sarah in the hole. Call before you dig folks.

This is a cool thread,that's probably why it's under cool threads. Lol. Anyway to bad storm wolf isn't here but he doesn't do dogfight anymore.

Dire is correct.White magik is my learned and preferred art, but Blak Magik can be summoned for "special" requests. I'm going to have fun with The Rune Art that was requested for sure. I just need to be specific about Norse or Celtic origins. The original Gods don't need to be angered by my ignorance. One has to be careful to follow the old rules. Life is a valued gift.

I want to wish everyone a safe and happy New Years eve. Please if you go partying do it responsibly. I want to make sure everyone returns to the forum and game next year safe and sound.

I have some things to do before going out, mostly involving kicking off Hangar Palooza, but will be around for a bit longer if there are any last minute things that need attention.

So, here's another topic. Drink of choice? What's yours? I just discovered Malibu goes great with ginger ale... my new favorite fru-fru drink. Otherwise Stella or Yuengling.

Depending on the season or occasion. Beer, I prefer Ales. I'm not a hard liquor person. I will be enjoying my first batch of mead tonight that I made personally.
