thanks for stopping by! i'm sure i can find you some cheese around here someplace.....

my friends and myself used to made hard cider from my apple tree. i always thought it was funny being able to point at my apple tree and say "that's the happy tree".

i made this for heather for mother's day. she isn't my mother but a mother indeed so she fit the requirements. ha!

a steak cooked rare, potatoes with thyme, whole vidalia onion, and a vegetable medley sautee. yum! it's funny, i made hamburgers for the kids and they came off with excellent grill marks. then i did the steaks on a colder part of the grill i guess. a delicious meal anyhow.

it is grilling season and would love to see peoples' backyard creations. i will post more grilled items if it ever actually gets warm here!

Hi

You should be banned for life for posting that picture, and pilots in game that are saying "gtg its steak time" or that kind of things as well.

My first time gathering wild yeast for my Sourdough starter went successfully! Now I'm making wonderful breads & pastries and they're so good! :cheer: ;)
Btw, it's hard to get it right the first time, most of the time they will die or not have enough yeast to make anything.

i went to a wedding in minneapolis today and on the way home stopped at a le creuset outlet store. i think that store will be one of my first stops after winning the lottery. i picked up a super awesome pepper mill. now i can get real psychadelic with my seasoning....

Summer Vacation Cooking part 1

i made aglio e olio tonight. it is sliced garlic simmered in olive oil and tossed with 3p's: pasta, parsley, and parmigiano-reggiano. we also did lime time salmon and a garden salad. real nice!

Summer Vacation Cooking part 2

this grilled surf and turf meal was on the menu last night. it was kind of like mother's day part 2 but that's ok, still good!
this time around we cut the vidalia onion for presentation and also added a skewer of jerk shrimp. the green beans were made in my new pan. it is like a sautee pan for the grill. after the meat has come off you pile up the coals and place the pan direct over the top. real cool.

You guys are killing me. I'm stuck in Eastern Afghanistan eating nothing but chicken and rice. Nothing wrong with chicken and rice, except when there's nothing but! Dreaming of fish, pasta, red meat - all the things you're torturing me with here. Lock this thread immediately!

i just knocked out a killer lunch! heather has been hinting at me making this recipe for some months now. today the planets aligned and i was able to make it. i am oh so happy i did.....

bacon wrapped braised leeks! very simple preparation for this one. i wrapped the prepped and cleaned leeks in bacon and placed them in a oiled and seasoned baking dish. i seasoned with salt, pepper, and ancho chile powder. add a bit of chicken broth and cover with foil. 400 degrees for about 40 minutes. remove foil, cover with heavy cream and parmesan. back into the oven for about 5 minutes and voila!

this was by far the best thing i have made all year!!! haha and it's so simple and easy. i hope you will try it for yourselves.

You don't need to understand dutch to understand this sketch:

Gino is an overly zealous pizza baker and can't help himself teaching the woman in the line the differance between a fresh and that awfull frozen pizza.

this is a tilapia dinner that is heavy on the garnish haha. i bought some dry lemon pepper pasta i wanted to try out, so naturally fish came to mind. lady hb has a whole mess of spinach to use up so that was a no brainer. the fun part was the carmelized onions on the side. wow! tasting the rich onion and fish together was quite a treat!

ps. couchy, i got some pictures of the birthday ravioli but my friend jeff was not so clever with the lighting, it looks kinda gross in the photo lol. i can post if you'd like however.
