I kinda want to see the rest of the horoscopes. The bits that you can see in your image look pretty screwed up!

Help me Snid! I can't stop throwing. It's like a disease. Before I go to bed (after kids are asleep and dog is put away... that dog is obsessed by flying things and wants to snatch and chew my boomerangs), I have to throw the indoor boomerang around the family room. Just have to. And yesterday evening, I dropped off my daughter at her piano lesson and then drove down the street to a field and threw boomerangs for 45 minutes. I went and bought a few more 'rangs from boomerangman. My car's passenger seat looks like boomerang store.

My favorite so far is a plastic pointy hat shaped boomerang, pretty light and thin, and when thrown right it has a nice float at the end of the flight:
www.boomerangman.com/product/bargan-absbargan-floater/
Problem is, if I don't get the throw just right, it sometimes comes cruising in fast! There must be a catching skill that I'm just not getting yet, because my knuckles and fingers are raw after 45 minutes. Ow! Ow! Sandwiching is the most reliable, but once in a while I pull off this miraculous one handed catch (and celebrate! Who da Man!), but then future attempts find the wrong end of the boomerang, or I grab at the side that is spinning away from me and get nuthin' but air, and narrowly avoid catching it with my teeth.

I also picked up these two Air Dancers.
www.boomerangman.com/product/air-dancer-outdoorindoor-pair/
The lighter one *can* fly indoors, but picture frames and chandelier bulbs are definitely in jeopardy. With a little added pitch, the heavier one can turn around in my driveway area, and the hard foam is easy on the fingers.

Finally, I have these two:
www.boomerangman.com/product/zippy-x-stickteachers-pet-set/
Jury is still out on these two. They are not floaters at all, and they are fast, and seem much more sensitive to a precise layover angle or they balloon up or hit the ground and go skipping along away from me.

I also replaced the Tri Fly that I lost in a tree, and Rich also threw in an old used nylon one from his random collection that he thought would be moreb easily tunable for small areas. He's a class act.

And I'm a basket case!

Rangfred

Hahaha yep that's how it starts man...see for me it was distance...I dreamed of one day throwing the booms marked "For Advanced Throwers Only!" and I will say I said baaaahh I'm advanced enough...well you think you make good spin until you pick one of these up and you hardly make the turn. If you are ever near Toronto Canada let me know and we will go out and throw a bit and I can get you hooked on LD. We are a special bunch inside the boom world. So glad you are having so much fun!

I've seen some vids of LD throwing. There's a lot of waiting for the return lol. Did you post the vid of that one LD dude, throws at the line, wait wait wait, then there's some yelling, you can see him searching the sky, and then whammo he gets nailed in the head.

I almost got clobbered yesterday. My 8 yr old was throwing the big foamy, and I was throwing my v-hat sharp plastic floaty thing. The predominant wind is out of the west, and when we throw in the late afternoon, the sun is right there. Lost it in the sun a couple times, and I need to learn when to give up on seeing the boomerang and just duck.

My daughter is getting a little better. Older daughter isn't so interested. The wife is completely baffled. "You bought whaaat? How many of them?"

I posted that here a little earlier I think and that was from the world championships in Rome I think. That hit to the head wasn't as bad another LD guy I know, he got hit in the chest and split wide open. He had 2 gashes about 2 inches long that split wide open about half an inch! See, we turn away from the boom, crouch down and put our arms together over our face our hands over our head...that is the 'unknown boomerang postion' stance. Oh and don't ever expect any enthusiasm from anyone else...I have crowd of people watch me throw but none of those people join me. Even those I teach give up quick it seems. You have to have the fascination I think. It's the physics and the throwing that appeals to me. Nothing beats taking out my carbon fiber marathon with about an 80m range just about sunset with a gentle breeze and watching it soar in it's giant ellipse and catch it right where you threw it from.

Ahh, beautiful day out. Actually it's always like this here  but it's more an issue of finding time and opportunity. After a morning of chasing horses, I dropped my daughter at a long music lesson (theory, piano, singing... 2+ hours woohoo!) and lo and behold, there's a box of boomerangs in my car and a big park 5 minutes away.

90 minutes later, I think I have learned that (a) wind direction really matters, and it changes, and (b) spin matters a lot more than... anything else really. Forgetaboutit if i misjudge the wind, it will zoom over my head or not complete the turn or whatever else. And while I seem to be able to more or less hit a target launch angle and layover, consistent and hard spin is difficult, and it makes the difference in whether I will wait there and have the boomerang hover to my hands like the big stud I am, or whether I'll be chasing it frantically yelling Nooooo.

Anyway here's the current collection. The favorite is on the lower right.

Here's a vid of the yellow hat-shaped boomerang. This one seems to like to balloon after the initial turn in, and a well spun throw will get it in a flatter attitude coming back than this throw did, and it has a nice hover at the end... but I didn't have any really well spun throws on video!

Yep your a boomeranger now! I will forewarn you as this is how I lost my first boom....in strong wind aim more right even if it doesn't complete the turn and slowly add left until it does go all the way around because just 5 degrees too much left into the wind and it will be 200 m behind you in no time!

I left plenty of space behind me. For me currently, if I throw at too high a launch angle, it soars quite high, doesn't quite make the full turn, and sails and floats waaayyy behind and to my left. A long walk. With the yellow hat-shaped boomerang, throwing too far to the right of 45deg results in a late but sharp turn, and I basically make a "9" with the landing pretty far in front of me.

There wasn't a ton of wind on that day, and I couldn't even get the other boomerangs to come back all the way. But that yellow one is a trouper. I love the high autorotating floats, where it seems like the spin is increasing as it goes into a descending hover. RC helis do this very nicely at about +1deg blade pitch, which is counterintuitive until you do the math on angles of attack when there is a forward translating flight. Anyway it brought back memories. (Gotta get back into RC. I read Dent's thread all the time.)

Yeah the flag was my wife's touch...so the black one is called an invertible and can be thrown both ways. If the LOW side is towards you it goes low and if the HIGH side well you guessed it it goes higher :)

The other is called a backyarder. Tons of fun on your lawn. You can catch it by landing the center hole over your finger :)

Both booms throw stood up straight and not a lot of power and they should fly nice.

Have fun!

OK YEMX is next and I'm not going to show it since the shape is a surprise (not to mention unique and I have never made one so I hope it works!!!) but I am pleased to say I have it all cut out and the outer shape done. Now just for the airfoil, testing, and paint! I'll let you know.

I also changed the thread title to more reflect the thread.

No worries man...so I put the airfoil on or at least what I am calling 'test airfoil 1' and I headed to the park. I went to the big grassy part so I can have a nice landing. Well as if it had no foil at all it sliced through the air dropping to the ground and tumbling as it spins along the ground. Thankfully no damage. Second throw same deal! It will take some time...it's an 'unusual' shape ;)
