Thank you for that rational, objective analysis of your peers on the forum. If I am one of those aforementioned attention whores, drama queens or wiseasses, I apologise for bringing this outburst on. Basically, I don't like bullies, but you behave like one. You call it 'just joking around', but a lot of us see it differently. You intimidate and belittle incessantly. Call me narcissistic, arrogant or whatever you like as you have in previous posts, but I'm just saying what I see. If its unreadable to you to you, then I guess I'm wasting my time.

In response to your personal attacks, I am also sorry that the whores amongst us do not live up to your exceptional personal standards. It's been just over a week now since wig posted his say. Ped pushed off just now so I have lost a good a player from my team. He had had enough of doggs and richy squabbling on this thread. Hey MOMs!

So, looking at a few of the more recent posts, Dogss rant and Wigs latest diatribe (thanks for the link Chocks) I wanted to wade into the cesspool that is “The Official M.O.M. Thread”. Everyone should understand that when MOM was formed there were two squads with only a few pretenders represented in the forum. The forum was a dark place controlled by 12-year olds and a lot of thread hijacking (think “Children of the Corn” and you’re Burt). Anyway, the forum was certainly not a place where you would see the word “diatribe” or have literary references. With respect to the game I was an old man (now closer to death than birth) who had stumbled into a game I loved and desperately wanted to master. The Vampires and BunnyBunny’s of the world tried to push me away but in the end I got better always thinking I was flying against and with 12-year olds. MOM came about when the old farts starting posting and a few brave souls realized there was a making of a squad here. Now, we all knew “Squad Wars” was around the corner and MOM provided the old guys an option (“Squad Wars”…”Squad Wars”…”Bueller”…”Bueller”).

Anyway, the MOM thread was born and right from the start it was a cesspool of personalities and thoughts with moments of brilliance (usually by me and occasionally by Wig). The problem now is that’s it’s still a cesspool but with more personalities and still occasional moments of brilliance. The problem is that we have to wade through more muck (sorry about that Muck) to get to the brilliance. That’s no one’s fault, just a side effect of how large MOM has grown. In the early days, the members could keep track of each other and we could tell their idiosyncrasies but with the large group as it stands now it’s more difficult. So, like in my case, I don’t read through the thread that often and when I do I know I’ve missed 10 pages. This is really the sad part of MOM as the MOM thread was required reading in the early days. BUT, that’s not to say I’m complaining about MOM today. We’ve brought in really great guys (and gals) and they all lend their personalities to the cesspool. But, I think a lot of the conflicts come from not fully understanding others within the squad and the fact that many of us come and go and have an unrealistic viewpoint that MOM should still exist in the exact same way as when we left. In that regard, MOM is perfectly named as don’t we all have a singular vision of our mom and how we see her (or remember her)?

I think Wig’s attempt to break down the squad into manageable pieces is an interesting one. I’m not sure it will work but I’m constantly amazed and his efforts that he puts forth for this squad. MOM is Wig and Wig is MOM and the rest of us continue to suckle on his teat.

Damn you Zandor! I swore I'd stay out of this and let it die. I swore I wouldn't let the drama affect me. But like the godfather quote, "just when I thought I was out...." I find myself drawn into it. I'm as different and alike as the rest of the MOMs. I haven't let any of the MOMs really get under my skin, although I'm sure they can't all say the same of me(Blue Max & who knows who else). Doggs is what we in the South refer to as a yankee. I accept that and let a lot of what he says roll off. Roo is a bit paranoid, but I'm not trying to talk him off the ledge. Ronnie is a through and through liberal, very contrary to my own view, but I accept his opinions at face value. Noushbag came as close as any MOM to pissing me off, but I let it go and welcomed him home. In my MOMhood, there have been several additions and I see each of them as another spice in the stew. As narrow minded as I am (white, straight, conservative, Christian (kinda), male over forty), I can appreciate the diversity. Do I wish we all existed here in peaceful bliss? Sure. Do I think that's even possible? Hell no! 100 plus members. 1/3 or more active on the forum at any given time. Hell no, we're not all gonna read from the same song sheet.

Zandor I was with you all the way on your last post. Until you mentioned teats. That's a mental image I'll be trying to lose for a good long while. I do, however, agree with most of the Wigsdom that is disseminated to the masses when he comes down from the mountain. I don't agree with it all, but accept it.

In the Navy (I throttle the first person to post the effing video) we had something called "Smokers". If you had a problem with a shipmate, you could call 'em out. You'd both take off your rank and put on the gloves and crawl in the ring. You'd work it out there. You came out of the ring and the world was right. Nobody ever jumped overboard. What I'd like to see is the same kinda (virtual) thing here. Someone rubs you the wrong way, call 'em out. Air it or PM it and get passed it. We don't always have to choose the Nuke option and throw our well earned, thoughtfully constructed banners on the floor. We're Mean Old Men (& Ma'ams). Not the 12 year old Zandor mentioned. I am not a MOM, yet, but I think I will get on my soap box, I don't know what all the fighting is about but it seems to me that all this Facebook style teenage drama is spoiling your (hopefully our) squad. All this drama of the last few days has left me wondering, regardless of size, politics, opinion, or any other hendrince, MOM isn't being treated as the sanctuary or refuge that it seems like it was meant to be. How can so many of you be so devoid of loyalty to a squad that makes rules just to be broken, and has a leader that in my limited expierence, seems to do all the admin work so yall(hopefully us) can enjoy ourselves, AND have a place to vent. This isn't the military, this isn't a club, group, or fraternal order, with a strict set of rules and regulations demanding conformity and obedience. So why take that gift, something none of the other (lesser) squads have and piss it away by abusing it? If things have changed in a way that you don't like, and feel the need to complain about like the entitled children, of all ages, that pollute our world today, why not just say thank you and leave quietly? Why bring the other members, and those of us who aspire to be members into your misery and ruin it? ITS JUST A GAME!!!! there is no need for all of this!!!!

I'm not sure I fully understand the issue here but feel compelled to throw my 10 centimes (cents) in. Though relatively new on the forum (thanks it must be said, to Wig, who sorted out my access issues), I immediately felt comfortable in the company of more "mature" players who didn't appear to take things too seriously and who considered beer, debating the best playmate of the month and certain etiquette such as rule 11 (love that one, especially when the other guys ask what it's about...usually from a chute) far more important than adolescent disputes. Reading the forum was a laugh, almost as good as playing and I felt envy that I couldn't match the wit and elegant prose of some of the contributors. These days, due to work and some personal issues, much like Zandor, when I log on, there are 10 pages to read, mostly some obscure hard to follow dispute..... Yep, the Mom forum has changed...I wasn't there at the beginning when there were just a few MOMs (and before they admitted mediocrity like myself - "compromise candidates" as they're referred to where I work) but I can see it nonetheless. Indeed we are all different, some are liberals etc. Etc. but I thought there is a certain empathy between us...drawn from the common bondnof advancing years, enjoyment of this game and the mutual respect for the skills and behaviour of a peer. There are a number of you with whom I would genuinely enjoy the opportunity to have a few brewski with - regardless of whether you eat bacon, only veg, hug trees or anything else. (no list - my memory is too bad and thus the risk to offend anybody by their omission.
Seems like everybody gets to rant from time to time, and this is mine.
