Yep, It takes away from the video, It get's boring real quick. I've even tried linking a servo and panning the camera in the cockpit, still doesn't quite cut it. The best seems to be a picture or video with little or no model included. I've been doing (carrying camera's) this since the Mid 90's. The camera's I do mount in my bigger, Gas plane are mounted in the cockpit but point out sideways for Wing only shots or angled down for no model showing. :)

I actually do fly at night. I attach LED strips to one of my electric gliders. I tell direction and bottom, top with colors. I use yellow and red....

Just took up my icon5 an hour ago...
Man.... didn't notice it before, but it got some bad tail flutter coming in on final approach
Think it's possible to put in a carbon fiber spar in the tail Dent?
And the second photo is a camera mount I made a while ago...
The platform is to glue a camera frame to.
And the gears are a lightweight plastic, so the whole thing doesn't weigh very much a all.
I can get 300`degrees turn on it! :woohoo:
I might try it on my icon5.

I'll post some pics of my 350QX with GoPro and Gimbal....

Give me some info in your FPV set up Fox1. Fat shark Predators I know. What about antenna's? Telemetry? 2.4 or 5.8ghz..... I need the list man.... I'm new to FPV.... ;)

Heres The 350QX with GoPro and Gimbal attached. I don't know how to post movies so I took stills of how the giimbal works. Keeps the camera level in flight....

Ohhh, first shot is not with gimbal. Just a fixed GoPro mount....
I don't think I can post the pic's I took with this setup as they are so big I think I'd have to crop them...

Dent, I've been watching this guy on YouTube for a bit and he has some amazing quadcopters. But one thing that he does that sticks out is a device called I think a Seeker? I guess you can see where the copter flies by looking thru the seeker which receives a signal from the camera (go pro) attached to the copter. Hopefully I can attach video. Here it goes.

This is why I'm NOT a MORAF!!

Fox, Here's the break on my Icon A5... the left side show's how I filled the Joint where the stab meet's the body...... Helped alot.....

Hey Fox, Just got to thinking about that Tail wag on the Icon... I have something laying around that just might help.... I forgot what I used this in...
Hook this Gyro to the Rudder Servo and It should help with the tail wag... I'll test it out soon and let you know...

Lets see...everything is pretty much stock right now, i want to hook a small dvr on my goggles though.
I have a 5 channel radio, but right now I only have a 4c receiver in the plain .
so to run the cam servo, I put a Y harness on the rudder plug, so the rudder and cam turn at the same time. Then I disconeced the rod to the rudder so I only have nose weel control.
So I take off as normal then I can swing the cam with the rudder control!

Im running a 5.8 system (don't know if know or not, but I've heard its very bad on your radio systems to run a 2.4 fpv with a 2.4 radio.
The experts say 2.4 radio with 5.8 fpv.
And 76 mhz radio with 2.4 fpv)
The former setup I guess is best for easy setup since most people use 2.4 radios. But its all line of sight no signals through dense objects trees ect.

The latter setup is best for long range (1 mile+) and flying between objects, like mountains!

The must have thing is "sperroet circular polarized antennas" they give you a almost scratchy free signal up to a mile+ I've personally flow with them a mile and they still have good signal back to the goggles.
In line of sight though! Thus the mile record,
And the crash! :woohoo: get the idea! ;)
Dam trees!
These are the ones I got from hobby king. ($34 about average)

U think I could ad this to the elevator so altitude isn't always such a big worry?

Fox, Why not look into telemetry. You can buy a circuit board that will give you altitude, remaining batt voltage, distance, direction all displayed on your goggles... Might be a better way to go. The Gyro is more for stabalisation. Buuuuuut I do think it would help if it's the cheaper way to go...

Fox, the gyros help stabilize change in Attitude, which means that in elevator/pitch axis, it would dampen changes in pitch. If your plane has trouble with sudden or gradual pitchiness, like when you fly a tail heavy plane, then this could help. A nicely gyro stabilized pitch axis makes for a point-it arrow-like flight. But once off straight and level, it continues that way, and doesn't return you to an altitude. Need an altitude feedback for that.

Manfred

Yep,,,, That's why the gyro would (might) be better used as a Yaw damper on the Icon A5, Since it has a bad tendancy to Tail wag especially on low power settings because of Dirty (turbulent)air being forced through the prop back to the Stab's, ( stabilizers, Horizontal and Vertical) Annnnnd a weak tail structure....
I have the Icon A5, I can only imagine what it looks like when you slow from a high power setting through the camera... Gotta be like swinging froma Tree on a Rope swing.... :)

Fox, I actually like your FPV setup... Looks well thought out... and neatened up.... ;)

The other day my childhood came back to me.....all those days ago, playing with my tamiya rc cars....well my wife said to me "what would you like as a small present for christmas" I replied "something I can get the kids into" and so it began.....

Im now the.owner of an rc car that I had as a teenager....the legendary df01 manta ray!!!! And you can bet that it wont be std for long.....
I plan a full rebuild with aluminium parts, full ball raced and tuned super tough doom buggy! I will use my own custom artwork on the body - havent decided what shell yet but I will be going for something stealth. Cant wait until it arrives!
