Thought I would show You 'fits this. We have a few of these WWII "Memorials" in my area, and maybe some of you could be interested in seeing a few pics. I always stop, when I pass a "new one" - they make me think... I never took pictures before, but if they are of any interest, I'll take some of the other ones, next time I pass.
This one was placed 5-5-1946 - exctly one year after Denmark was liberated.
The inscription reads:
"On this site an American aircraft crashed during air battle on 2-20-1944.
The following airmen were killed"
"These men gave their lives - for Denmark, too."
"Placed 5-5-1946 by Soellested Vedtofte county."
I did a little research, and it was this B-17
