Is it next to impossible to be able to ride in one of those?

Mr. Palen was ill the day I was there, years ago. The "Flying Circus" is truly history brought to life. Glad to see they still do it. It's a shame old Charlie Kulp retired in 2007. If you want to see some fancy & funny flying youtube it: "The Flying Farmer". I watched him fly his Cub backwards the length of an airfield once. The head winds and his skill were exceptionally strong. Roger Lehnart took over as Charlie got older and he is amazing.

CAUTION!!! If you get airsick you may not want to watch what those 2 could do with an airplane!!

You used to be able to get rides. In an old biplane. It looks as though our buddy WIG got to ride in it....from the air photos he posted.

You can't ride in the WW1 fighter planes, Oed...one seaters, y'know. The model I went up in was a 1928 New Standard D-25. Indescribably cool. I had zero interest in coming down!

Wig, those are some fantastic pics!! I think my favorite is the fokkerDVII. There is an airshow coming up at McConnell AFB. I'm looking forward to taking my kids to it. I believe the Air Force Thunderbirds will put on a show. Thanks for sharing, Wig!!

Ha! That's why I carry so much extra duct tape & bailing wire with me! Come to think of it, that is weighing my plane down almost as much as that stinking bomb! :)

If you are referring to leaving the candy wrapper in my plane, that is a punishable offense, young man. Agnes, down the hall needs her sponge bath! All 350 lbs., 98 yr. old, tattooed body. NOW!

If that is not what you are referring to...do it for fun. Hers...not yours!

We'll talk in a few hours...when you are done...have fun!

Sorry to post again so quickly, but I have a serious question.

If SPUT & AGNES hit it off and he takes her up in his plane and she gets airsick causing him to get sick...does that qualify for the "Bile HIGH CLUB"? Just wondering....

Reid,
You just want revenge (and a good one) but, I was only displaying discipline for leaving a candy wrapper in my plane. However, I may have found my true calling, "LOVE CONNECTION".

East carrier...THE LOVE BOAT!
If you see SPUT & AGNES go there...leave them to their privacy. SShhhhh...they may need their privacy. No shooting! (And watch the lake get absorbed into the sponge.)

Best to all,
Paul

Paul's dad was mentioned by the airshow MC. I spoke at length with the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome management and the MC/announcer himself. This weekend the show - featuring the Fokker Dr1 triplane and SPAD VII dogfighting as pictured - will feature a dedication to "Paul Mantz, Jr. and Jon Duckwing." (Duck, I don't know your last name but I thought you might get a kick out of that!)

I have scores of other pics of planes in flight, on the airfield, in vintage hangars and on museum display. I'll post a few more if you guys would like to see them. I just wanted you to know that the Aerodrome folks were pleased to have the opportunity to mention you both to the crowd as the heroic individuals (Paul, shedep) you are and as members of the M.O.M Squadron! My only regret was that you both couldn't be there to enjoy "the real thing" up close. But you were there in spirit and will be again this week.

Ah! That's why I couldn't find my beloved Albatross, you had it!, great photos Wig, love them, really shows how flimsy those things were and who would think that prop would get them off the ground let alone pull them through the sky!

OOHHHMMMYYYYGGGGOOODDDNNNNEEEEESS!
WHAT DID I DO? He said thank you on the same note where AGNES was described!

I am calling a Canadian Spelunking team. He could be wedged in a crannie on Granny. Lack of oxygen equals memory loss. Or is it LOVE?

Either way I feel.....

Great pics Wig. When I was a kid me dad took me to Rhinebeck once. He was an avid builder of model airplanes (flying models only, balsa wood, freeflight, rubberband powered wakefields mostly). Very cool place.
