Edited: Ignore everything bellow this line. Timer is now 80 minutes for all games. Basically removing it from all games. When the game has more players I'll get back to this.

Hi there,

After looking at the stats for over a 1000 games and reading through all the feedback, here is what I'm going to do for now (still not set in stone! we'll see how well it works out).

Well, actually not that many games end up on a tie. Most games seem to be either very active (they finish before the 20 minutes) or boring (they wish it was 10 minutes instead of 20). The issue is then with the ones that are active and ran out of time too fast. But at the same time, enforcing a timer did bring to life new tactics and more action instead of just flying around.

A change I already made was not to allow new players after the 15 minutes mark. So if 15 minutes or less remain in the game, people are placed on a new game when they log in.

So changes now that everyone has 1.0.23 or higher version:

- Timer will be 15 minutes for most games. Don't kill me just yet.
- No game can be run for longer than 45 minutes. So minutes will stop adding at that moment.
- Timer will adapt to the game in the following way:
* bombing an hangar adds 3 minutes to the game (consider that you have 2 sides, that's 7 hangars *3= 21 minutes +15 game minutes = 36 minutes, more than half hour games)
* picking up the flag adds 3 minutes (enough to fly to the other base, and picking it up many times could be endless games that's why there is a 45 minutes total limit).
* bombing boat adds 2 minutes.


The idea is basically that inactive games will run out of time as quick as possible, while action packed games will be extended for a bit longer. Not that much, since part of the action is actually enforced by the timer.

Not crazy about losing the 5 minutes but the other stuff sounds okay but I am not part of the vocal minority. I just wish there were more players. I cancelled my subscription to df1 because it was supposed to be ending but I think there are more people playing it now than before you announced it's demise.
By the way, for me elite has been running great since the last update (android)

Does that mean that it has gone back to needing all eight hangers again?

Did you fix that one hanger that always automatically burns if you hit any of the other hangers?

If you enabled regional server, is it possible to see players online on that region?

Kindly remove rule of not to allow new players after the 15 minutes
as it will give more players to join the game else what this rule is doing is giving multiple games with no players or 1-2 players.

Full game with even 1 minute left is worth than empty games or games with 2-3 players.

I was in a game on df1 that went on for 6hours 15 mins my kills 363 deaths 225.Some people like the long games.

All blasphemy aside, be it known that Zuperman is coding the game to encourage use of a variety of tactical play

Sneaks can now be more of a factor than ever. They can extend the timer long enough to keep the game from ending in a tie. Same for a tank in a carrier game. Hopefully people will understand how their actions can contribute to their team in new ways.

*The amount of time remaining will encourage different choices for both offensive and defensive tactics.

*The timer can be a good thing for playing outnumbered. It makes it so you can "accomplish" a tie by defending until the last second.

* It might be nice to make it so new players can enter a game up until the last 5 minutes. It could help to fill up the games more.

Personally, I don't hate long games... I just don't have time for them. Seriously, if I play for several hours straight I'm making trouble for my real life. Many players have had real-life relationship issues because of this game... many break-ups and divorces have had dogfight as a factor. I wonder how many kids have gone hungry because a parent was too obsessed with the game to make dinner. :huh: :lol: I laugh, but back in my early days of playing I remember putting off dinner for over an hour for a game that was "almost over". The wife and kids still bring that up from time to time... :blush:

* Those on mobile devices are at a disadvantage compared to PCs for long games. I think about 2 hours is the best I could do on my old tablet.

* I notice that my eyes don't give me as much trouble with shorter games.

* It's always seemed lame to me how people would complain about sneaks "ruining" the multi-hour long games. Some people seem to feel wronged if someone doesn't just fly straight ahead into the meat grinder. Now mixing it up can be more rewarding.

I have never been and will never be in support of the timer.

If I got into a game and found myself short on time, I simply left. Just like I leave dogfights and flag games. The option to leave has always been there. If I don't have the time to play, I don't play...real simple.

Two things I always enjoyed about DF1: 1. The ability or chance to come from behind and win.
2. The 100 kill game.

You aren't getting either in this timed game.

You can say it's about opening up options for tactics...whatever. This is about appeasing a noisy minority. Nothing else. Nobody that I know wants this except a few players.

The thread not too long ago about the timer was pretty clear...most were not in favor of it. Or maybe I read it wrong?

Broken relationships because of this game...please...if that's an issue with you, then you really need to work on your time management skills. Do the work on your end, not leave it up to a game developer to do it for you...get real.

The Comet instinctively, positively, absolutely hates the timer. And there's your feedback.

Back to my real life now without having to be told by someone else...

You said what the "Not so smart" was thinking. Very eloquently, I might add. I love the long game, if I need to rub my wife's green feet, I leave. Pretty simple. I have and always will be against the timer. If a sneak wants to sneak, by all means go for it. You have all the time in the world. I just don't understand the reasoning behind the timer? Like B52 said one of his games went on for over 6 hours, I'm sure he will remember that game above all others. I have been in many long games and will cherish each and every one of them. No one remembers a 15 or 20 minute game, no one. I fought in a game (alone) against Davy Crockett, YEMX, and a level 29 or 30, for about an hour. Holding them off all by myself, finally some help showed up and we pushed them back and won the game, after another hour. That game is etched into my brain, I was not a MORAF yet and feel it was a defining moment in becoming a confident player. I also remember a game against BlueMax, I stayed up till 1am in a 3 hour game. Knowing my alarm clock was going off at 3am, I couldn't or wouldn't leave. Again, etched into my tiny brain. You can add the timer, but the memories of the "great" games are mine to keep. One day I will talk to another player and say "remember the great game we used to play"... I hope this puts things in perspective. As far as a player complaining about games being too long, I'm pretty sure that's why there is a quit button. Doesn't Candy Crush have a timer? They should go play a game like that.

Not a fan of the timer. I gave it shot, honestly did. But now it's rush/play and say gg to all. I'm not sure what to say, as I was pretty excited to come back after a long absence, but it's just not the same.

Zup, with all due respect I believe some of the data about the games is skewed. Glitches in the games cause them to finish prematurely: in zeppelin games they are giving a win before the zep gets to the enemy base and the timer runs out, in BTB games there is a couple of the hangars if you hit them will actually destroy another one too. If these two glitches were corrected the number of games ending in a draw may change (perhaps not in the zep games but maybe in BTB).

yea definitely agree that btb shud return to old format....no timer ..

1 bomb drop on hanger = 1 hanger destroyed

had many great game where u have that single hanger left an u defendin it like crazy ..to keep it intact...against wave after wave off attackin enemy planes....while waitin for chance to try get there hangers....an turn the tide of the game.. from near defeat ..to a victory ,these games are tuff ..but great play ....

u also find lot more people in this type game ...as lots players come an go .sum stick it out ...while u get constant stream off players joining..as others leave (depending on how long they got time to play)

also u get players that not been on in while pop in the game ....so u get to say hi to old friends ...

do miss a gud long game .... zup plz at least remove timer from btb game

don't usually post game shots but this a must ..as last long game I had...many came an went ....but for likes off me to get such gud game ..against sum1 off that darn pesky wabbit ....calibre ....is well not bad hehe ...this was bout month ago

p.s I'm elmer fudd..had to change name on df1 ..as had a stalker ..copy my name an pretend to be me :whistle:

Joaquín creo que son acertados todos esos cambios,en cuanto a la misión destruir barco no es que a la gente no le guste,es que casi siempre el barco esta en el río pero muy lejos de la orilla,y se hace pesado además los tanques no llegan hasta donde esta el barco
seria una buena solución para hacerlo más divertido,1)que el arco este más cerca de la orilla,para que puedas alcanzarlo con el tanque o con el mismo avión, no tener que recorrer todo el lago.Eso se hace muy pesado cuando son pocos jugadores,y yo le daría más
distancia de alcance al tanque,así los ataques serian más interesantes,aparte de que sino la gente no se hace tanque por que le cuenta una muerte más,si encima no tiene alcance más largo pues nadie se hace tanque y el juego es
muy pesado. (DEBES REACCITIVAR LOS JUEGOS QUE NO GUSTAN JUAGAR)Así eso juegos tendrán más pilotos,sinó estarán siempre vacíos.

I'm finding that the timer isn't a problem. It's not a problem because the game ends before the timer is up!!!

Three hangars gets you the game? There's still ten minutes left in most games I've been in, and to be honest, it's more of a disappointing feeling than a "yeah, I won!" Three kills and a win is a let down. And I say this as somebody that doesn't have a lot of time to play.

Oh, and no, I haven't subscribed. I want to, but due to now being on a family plan for iTunes and my wife being the account holder... Well, let's just say it's not a good idea to go with hat in hand to my wife right now and ask her to let me play this game! Lol. The only computer we have with Windows updated enough for it IS... Wait for it.... HERS! I'll figure it out though. Just... Change things around a bit more, Zup. PLEASE!

lol and I was hoping for at leat a 30 minute game. 20 and now 15 just seem fast even for a good sneak lol. c how it works the way u changed it,cheers

Personally I'm not a fan of the timer.. & I HATE tied games!! Do you have any idea how hard it is to have more Wins than Deaths in my stats? Well with ties now it's even harder!
No more tied games please. I don't remember too many wars or battles that ended in ties lol!
And a good sneak carrying two bombs takes about 15 minutes..

oh well, honestly I couldn't care less about the timer. I added it per request, so i'm just changing it to 80 minutes games and ignore my original post.
When more people is on Elite i'll work it to my original post, since people just seem to be looking for excuses to say that df1 is better (even if I copied verbatim df1 to elite, they would still say the same, trust me, let's see what's the new excuse now that the timer is basically gone).

I think I found out the solution: ignore them. Otherwise it's going to drive everyone nuts. Someone that says I would quit if world chat is removed, or if this lag continues... and then now that wc is gone, lag is triple than before on df1, they swear by their mother it's a great game... well, do they realize that they lose points on my "feedback and requests" list?

The truth? Df1 is NOT better. Not even close. The problem is that it has more players so everyone flocks there. But that will be solved real real soon.
