I just posted on another thread about this but I will work on implementing this shortly. The most common complain is lag. It cannot be fully solved because it's the connection between you and all the other players in the game.

You have to log into the server nearest to you for faster connection. Imagine you are in California and connect to a server that is less than a mile away from you. You have super fast connection. The problem is that if someone from Saudi Arabia logs into that server (horrible speed from US), then he lags a lot and you think you are lagging too because when you shoot at this guy, he won't get destroyed for 40 seconds (until he gets the message). Lag is the connection between all the players. That's why it's impossible to solve completely.

That player should connect to the server that's fastest to him and you should connect to the one that it's fastest to you. But right now many people doesn't follow that advice and randomly connect and sometimes you get that weird super fast personal connection but an enemy that is jumping all over.

What I will have to do is eliminate all server choices, no more artois, messiness and so on. Internally they are there but you won't be able to choose them manually. I would let the system pick the fastest server for you automatically so you can't pick one that is hyper slow for your connection and slow every other player. It should mitigate lot of the lag problems I see.

Meanwhile try to pick the best 'green' speed you see listed on the world map. Also be logical. If you are in India, pick an Asian server. If you are in North America, pick the East/West coast machines and so on. It will make your connection way more stable, even if some random guy from the other corner of the world connects.

What if you want to fly with friends or squadmates and their fastest speed is a different server?

I would rather put up with a bit of lag and be able to fly with my friends and squad mates then to be forced to fly in a certain server...

So either forced servers and no lag or fly with who you want and have some lag issues...

Fried, this is a very valid point. If people want to fly in the same game together, they need to be on the same server. If server choice is eliminated, you may never get to fly with people from anywhere other than your own continent.

I have an excellent broadband speed and I can generally get a better connection to most servers than people who live a few miles away from that server location. Would this mean I would not be able to fly with a lot of my squad just because the game would automatically throw me on the server closest to me?

If the system can check your speed and limit very slow connections to the server nearest to them but still give a choice of servers to faster connections then this would also greatly reduce the lag without restricting folks to play only with people geographically close to them.

I understand that my suggestion involves a lot more work, but it will ensure the game remains intercontinental.

I usually choose the fastest server for myself, but would still like the ability to fly another server to fly with friends(knowing it will lag for me)

I've made a lot of friends here from around the World. It's a blast to fly and hang out with them. And NO they are not all in the [M]isfits. I hate the lag, but I would hate losing that element of the game.

I'm not one to get involved in this stupidity, but this is foolish. Comet didn't go off topic. You're the one who is trying to shoehorn an attack against the Misfits into this thread by, once again, posting our channels from Zello. I'll say no more on this topic, but what you posted has absolutely nothing to do with eliminating lag by way of less servers. It's simply a silly attempt to besmirch the name of a group of people who became friends because of this game. A group of people that, for whatever reason, you've decided you need to attack and "expose". So, in the future, try to keep on topic buck, I know it's a challenge, but it really helps keep the flow of the discussion at hand.

Zup I'm honestly not sure that's the solution we're looking for. Obviously if it's the only solution, then we may not have a choice, but is there ANY other way to reduce lag without removing the chance to play with worldwide friends?

Go ahead and post on in ignorance Buck. I have buried that hatchet with Wig. I have nothing to hide here. That channel was created months ago and has since been abandoned.

Taking the point that zello might contribute to lag...

Not likely. Most users that I know of use seperate devices for chatting, PC users being the exception. I use my phone for zello, generally on 4G and fly with my Kindle Fire on wifi. I have not seen any correlation between zello and lag.

For those of you who cannot read and comprehend what you think you have read or have seen. There are oter squads in the Zello snaps. This furthers the opinion that not just one squad uses the Chat App.

Ok, I think it is sad if you can not play with friends that you may of made in this game.However, if they are friends, you can call them, and perhaps play in other games. Everyone whines about the lag in this game, now here is a fix, and yet still whine? you can not have it both ways it seems. I vote for lag less.

Are there games that are played using more than one server? Seems as there are times when someone from Vimy is in the same game as someone in Messines. If we could choose the game rather than the server then all would be good.

This is what I've noticed also (re Bware's post). You can get into the same game from different places. Fest, Borimov, and Artois... Mess, Lakes, and Vimy. Will this be changing once more servers are added or is this how it's going to be? Maybe once that's fixed the lag won't be as bad and maybe this isn't as big of an issue as it's being made out to be.

I apologize Zup, the thread got out of hand. Thanks for your efforts. I have subscribed because I think it's a great game, but the friendships that have been built are the biggest reason why (well not everybody is buddy-buddy as you can see) I continue to play.

Ii only play on two servers anyway due to lag issues (Australia is far from everywhere). Picking the best one by ping time would be fine with me.

THE ONLY WAY THIS WORKS IMO....Is if you create some sort of pre game lobby like other multiplayer games out there. Or find a way to link up with squad mates and people from your currently useless friends list pre game so that you can enter games together. Its hard enough to get into games with friend as it is.

Mc Fate, there is no implication in my post that External Chat apps cause lag. They may add some addition load on the service but that would occur when separate devices shared the same Internet connection.

Buck I believe that the central issue is that you went out of the way to post screenshots when you could have just said, "Chat apps like Zello, TeamSpeak, Boxer, Quad, etc. al."

Now to wander back to the topic. If server elimination does reduce lag, then it is an improvement. Do as you please and think will work Zup. You know we will tell you if we think you are wrong .

I did not lecture anyone. I believe I was informing you where others thought you were wrong. I also did not lecture Zup, rather I believe I said that this is is creation and he can do as he pleases with it. Now if you would like a lecture, I would be more than pleased to write and deliver you one (though it probably wouldn't be on this thread as I believe we all have done a bang up job in derailing this thread. Yes that means you have played a roll in it.)

So I guess text and email info should be available or is it simply some sort of butt hurt feelings exposed to you by those who used the same app ZELLO to befriend and play this game. Game being the key word here, friends who chose a path they now regret and exposing what? A fing free app that you deem unethical, when it is free, like texting, voxer or any other form of communication? Why is the lag worse now than the free Microsoft ones.Also why was the lag worse with the free Microsoft servers than the previous servers to them.The lag has become more problematic with each server change over the years.
Can the five UK players please stand up and tell me when you play. gonna be boring as hell.
