On the blacklist thread he suggested removing points like a 1000 points for a teamkill.

Could be expanded for language also.

I bet this would sure stop the majority of the jerks who are ruining games.

That is a good idea. It would need an on screen message. 1000 POINTS HAVE BEEN DEDUCTED FROM YOUR SCORE FOR BEING A TRAITOR. SHOOTING AND BOMBING YOUR TEAM MATES IS NOT ALLOWED !!!!! let this hang up there for about 3 seconds. Long enough to read the message. The traitor message doesn't stay on screen long enough.

Good in theory but if im shooting red and a blue crosses my path i dont want 1000 points deducted for an accidental TK.

I agree here. Many times I have seen blue pilots cross my line of fire and get hit. There would have to be a way to distinguish TK from accidental. I do like a big penalty for bad behavior.

J4ff, I'm the other way than you. If I'm firing and a blue crosses my path and I hit him, to me it's my fault. He was ahead, IMO he had an implied right of way. I try not to fire close over the shoulder of a pilot ahead of me for that very reason. Besides, it's much more strategic to be a little wide so we can divide up the enemy from slight angles.

Exception is if someone cuts in front of me just a few plane lengths ahead. I'm talking more about longer separations.

There are a few "Close Standers" that I try not to fly in front of, kind of like those people at a party who stand closer to me than I find comfortable. Thanks for the warning, I will circle back around you!

I will just cost you 1000 points to tank a carrier with friendly fire. I would give 1,500,000 of my current points and go to the bottom of the level 31 rankings to end teamkilling. 1000 points for a TK is nothing. Accidental TKs are a fact of life. Purposefully TKing would be to expensive for noobs looking to buy a new plane.

Make the hanger -2000 points and planes/tanks -1000.

Some people might like that and become team killers just for the spanking

this is how it used to be and many complained about getting points removed because sometimes you team kill by mistake.

I don't mind to add it back, its a commented out chunk of code at this moment.

I've had bad games/days when I seemed to be a Blue Beagle myself. Team killing multiple times, by accident. In the over all scheme of things and after months of playing, a few thousand points for accidental TK wouldn't impact me. As a level 2-9 it would certainly get my attention. Even as a rank 31, I still watch my points and my ranking. I like movin up. It would still get my attention. If it stopped or slowed TKers down, I'd still take it. If it makes blues more careful about friendly fire, that's an added bonus. I still think points and coins are at the top of the noobs christmas list and would impact their decisions more than anything, especially a 5 minute bans that is only enforced on one of 3 servers (absolutely no impact felt by that).

Edit: I'd do away with the 5 minute ban altogether if this was enforced, I'd love spending coins that I can't spend anywhere else, destroying teamkillers.

I agree obviously, but the old code only removed 50 points. It needs to be significant (1000) to make a difference.

ok, i'll put it back tomorrow, 200 per friendly hit. if you hit someone 3 or 4 times... that's usually lot of points, i don't want to put 1000 directly because if you shoot a round and you hit it multiple times by mistake it will hurt a lot.

I'll put 1000 or 2000 per hangar

About cursing, the bans should be in all zones already, not only on the one you are playing. I'll double check tomorrow. I don't want to reduce points on that unless it gets automatically banned.

That is the best addition you could possibly have made. Thank you for letting us have some input and thank you for the work you do.

Its worth it. I'm all for this policy. It will encourage trigger discipline. Some honorable players get more TK's than others, because they take shots that are risky for their team mates.

Well when this all goes to hell, I guess I'll take full blame.

Z, not to nit pick, but as mentioned by others, this feature is most effective when accompanied by a nice lingering message telling the player that they just lost 200 points per shot that hit a team mate, etc. Or maybe something like "Traitor! You lose points when you shoot team mates or bomb your own team's hangars."

Not that I can hit the side of a barn, even when I'm inside the barn, but I guess I won't be firing my guns when any of my teammates are within view. I'm probably more likely than most to be hitting them with stray bullets (maybe because I'm such a crappy shot to begin with).

I don't think persistent TK are remotely bothered about rank,points,progress or the DF community at all.Their only interest is to ruin the game.So they'll just keep doing it and probably more.Now we cannot give them a taste of their own medicine without loosing points.The inability to play is the only deterent.Or make it impossible to bomb or shoot your own team.
Sorry in advance team mates if your infront of me faced with a sea of red coming for ya they're all yours, I'll be less inclined to shoot waiting for you to be downed before i shoot unless im more to the side of course.Z can you turn the other runway at an angle aswell to help with accidental TK.Enemy comes over the hill shooting straight down the runway,you take off behind a team mate and you cant shoot.

Jeff's first point is a good one. Some of these initial tk'ers will be deterred, but the ones that are here solely to ruin games will not care. The Dylan Sing's and eLiTe FiGhTeR's, they will teamkill until banned.

And I may need to amp up my other account to equip it with the best plane. Then it can be my dedicated tk'er hunting ship.

That's a good idea. I think I will use my ØōØ account for the same thing. I made enough points before the price hike to get the albatross decked out. My Se5 is still short of full throttle. I may have to dust it off and get some points.

Yes there will be guys that don't care about points or coins or rank. Still it is better to have a negative effect on score rather than a positive or nothing at all for TKing. It will start in the noob servers now so many won't even make rank to get to the big boy servers.

Given that it's rare that I get more than 2 kills per game, one accidental hit would require at least 2 games to make up for each bullet. Sorry, teammates, but I'm not shooting if you're anywhere in view.
