The current bullet system is pretty simple, it's like a laser beam that flies from side to side of the terrain at high speed.

This obviously is not realistic and there has been some discussion as to change it or leave it as it is. For the discussion you can check it here:

Since we don't seem to agree, let's do the first poll ever done in Dogfight (using this kunema thing).

The options are simple:
1) Keep it as it is.
2) Keep it working as a laser beam flying straight but shorten the distance so it doesn't go 2 miles far
3) Make it more realistic and the bullet loses velocity, curves down and falls.

I clicked on the third one (realistic), but if this extra calc causes a processor strain in older devices and maybe some lag or hiccups, then just shorten the laser a little!

How long will the poll continue? 24 hours? That gives the whole planet time to vote.

Keep it the same, afew years ago the range was insane, not today, the range is substantially shorter, geez leave the gm alone it's fine.
I can turn fight very well to, and shoot stright very well, I'm not the greatest there is at both but I do fairly well at both turn fighting,and long range shooting. Why give the turn fighter the advantage.w8 has the advantage at turn fighting already, just push a button and you get the best turn angle vs tablets, phones. You can't hold your turn angle as well as w8 players, sure there are some who do very well turn fighting with a phone,tablet. Stright shooters have there advantage, turn fighters have there advantage, equal advantages. Now tht the teams are more even 4 vs 4 most cases I don't mind haveing turn fighters escorting me, or sneakers there are plenty of tactics for all now.

I vote..KEEP IT THE SAME!!!!!

Here's the thing with me...blue max was the ultimate with long range shooting...i worked hard to develop half the skill he had. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. There are far too many other things which could use attention. I am a subscriber and have been from the day it began and like many put even more money in the game. The advantage I have with long range shooting is for those who twist and turn...several who don't carry bombs. This subscriber did cast a vote...and I sure hope this poll was not open to those who have decided the game was not worth the $2 each month. Oh and I'm not always successful with those twisting and turning, but at least I have a fighting chance. Just my 2 cents (or dollars)

I definitely agree with you here but come on!

The game would change for everyone. Zup has talked about adding bombers to the game. They would be slow and straight just like so many seem to prefer. Will they be protested because if someone chooses to fly a fighter they will have an advantage over the bombers?

If the large bombers ever do come, hopefully they will be armed with gun turrets. With the mix of fighters, bombers and turret mounted guns it seems like ballistics would be much more interesting than lazars. Maybe the ballistic change could wait until then?

I vote back to 2 hits smaller planes or I want more ammo zup I run out almost every run as do most long range guys:)......change it back or more ammo I'm cool with either.

Of course not MEAN...not subscribing does not make one a criminal and certainly the post was mot made to intend such. I do pay...but because of such, I feel that subscribers should have the say. Nonsubcribers, in my opinion, should not have the same weight of changing the game for all. The way I said that could have been a little more tactful...my apologies.

Monsta! I agree with you. Only paying customers should vote. Only paying customers are footing the bill for all the other non paying players. I dont mind if they pay or not, thats their business. Voting on how the game should be, that should be for the zupporters...... I mean supporters!

Here's a question...why did U get ride of the d8 because it was hard to hit then turn around and make the game more difficult????? Makes no sense to me at all.

There is a big difference between these issues.

The D8 was a big advantage for one side. It made people more likely to prefer Germany over allied. It had a significant advantage over all other planes and made a greater divided between higher ranks (or those who could afford it) and those who did not. ( Also remember that during that time there was no way for PC users to purchase points for upgrades.)

Adding ballistics would make a change across the board.

I understand that some don't like the challenge that this change would make. I think it's strange that so many want the status quo. Fine. That's what the vote is all about. Let's keep it honest.

As for the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude...

Without Zup implementing new features there would be no tanks, no chutes, no choice of maps, one plane for each side, only one mission, no squads, no carriers, no underground...

The reality is, a change in bullet trajectory won't "level the playing field". The advantage had been and always will be with the players that have invested the most time into this game. Noobs are noobs for a reason. Eventually, if they stick around, they gain experience and voila they are deadly. So it doesn't matter what changes, the best players will adapt and continue to be deadly and post up some crazy numbers. It's been the standard for years now and there's no reason it won't continue.

I don't find it strange at all that some people want this aspect of the game to stay the same. Just as it takes time and experience to flop around like a fish and avoid being shot, it takes time and experience to long range kill.

I think that this is plain and simple a dispute between different play styles: straight shooters and turn fighters. It's not strange at all to want an aspect of the game that you're good at to stay the way it is. If this was a vote about limitations of turn fighters I bet the turn fighters would be opposed to that change...nobody wants to give an advantage away...and we all have the same opportunity to master different aspects of this game.

Yes. I like turn fighting. In my opinion it requires more skill than point-and-shoot and it is a far closer representation of how actual ww1 battles went.

Yes. I also support using tactics such as dropping and sneaking because it requires more thought to counter rather than a meet in the middle slaughter.

I also prefer being on the low side of an uneven game. Why? Maybe I should see a shrink. But I can promise you it is not because I like to have an advantage.

Part of the reason I did not like being on a big squad is that so many squad mates wanted to switch to the same side that it frequently pitched the numbers in my favor. Once again, this attitude of mine is not intended to provide me with any advantage. When I joined the NLR I made *420* promise that we could still fight against each other sometimes. Seeing how she is arguably one of the best Dogfight pilots of all time it was not so I had an advantage.


I like the challenge of the game and I hope for more improvements which will increase the emphasis on skill and tactical game play. I believe that such features will make the game more compelling. To me, there is nothing worse for the enjoyment of the game than a whiner demanding that other people fly the way they want the game to be played. By flying how we each choose we are not 'forcing' someone to play our way, we are challenging them to develop thought and skills to be competitive.

I really wish more people would take on the attitude of one if the game's most respected players:
Von Hulk. His attitude is basically "bring it on!" Whatever "it" may be. He still has his own opinions about what makes a good game but he will take any challenge that comes his way. I think it might be safe to say that his skills developed due to this attitude, not the other way around.


Any change that adds to the complexity of the game (without pitching an advantage to one team or the other) is an improvement in my book. Simple is not nearly as fun.

Funny how you assume I was talking about you. You know, I'm not such a bad turn fighter myself...and don't forget I have that win 8 "advantage" every tablet player despises...I can bring down a pilot here and there and hold my own... I prefer what I prefer. I respect what style you prefer.

Maybe it's not this way, but it sure seems like it's the turn fighters against the head ons... But the card they're playing is the "more realistic features" card. Yet nowhere is there a thread about not having tanks magically appear out of nowhere when you safely land in your parachute that some say didn't exist at the time of WW 1. And how that WW2 carrier is being captured or bombed...

It's a video game. It's ok for some features to be far fetched. Yes I know all about how you like your challenges and such...you mention them all the time... I'm just saying that some stuff is fine the way it is... I have so many challenges in life that sometimes I just want to come on here, play a game where I don't give a flying you-know-what about whether my bullets look like lasers or not...

If the game were that simple, we would be playing pong with the Activision controllers instead of using any thought to play this one.

An opinion was asked of us to vote, not an invitation to throw out a novel response to support, not support or just put up the middle finger so to speak.

As it is, most know where one stands and to continue any discussion on a thread clearly intended for the poll is useless. However it doesn't surprise me that some still choose to throw riddle to goat a response. How many times can these same old discussions, disagreements be hashed? How many more hours wasted on opinions and statements here in the forum? (to many as usual) I say leave your response at the top of the page in one of the three choices and be done with it.
