Hello people of Dogfight!

I've had many bad experiences with the new rude, crude and on refined group of pilots that have been making this great game unenjoyable, many good people have stopped flying because of that...

Through talking with other pilots about this, I've come to the conclusion that all this bad behaved of new pilots started when the servers were separated.

Here's why I think this;

When I first started playing the game, there was no noob server. We got kicked around by the higher ups, but, we also got advise & tips from them. With that system, noobs learn to respect every pilot and get in trouble by the high ups when they misbehave. Also, some of the worst pilots would learn their lessen or leave the game because they don't want to put in the effort to fly well.

What's happening now, is that noobs fly without any guidelines or challenges, shooting everyone they can and doing anything how to get kills (not knowing any better), this is where a new pilot gets a big head and a bad audited (cursing, name calling, etc.) and learns that Spawnkilling, Camping, etc. is the best way to get points. Once they get into the normal servers, they get mad that they can't shoot anyone and they use all their bad tactics they learned in the noob servers.

I am proposing that the stay in the noob servers be shortened, too level 3, then everyone flys together, as experienced pilots we need to steer the new pilots in the right direction and teach them how to fly and treat other pilots.

Lemme play devil's advocate here.
Two new planes have been added per tier. Right now, the D VII & DVIII are wrecking anus. What happens when an aspirant in his Airco flies into Wig, Davy, Mean, and SkyDavis as red, and 3 randoms as blue? He's gonna get beaten beyond recognition, and quit immediately, claiming hacks.
Just kidding, Davy and Wig would never be on the same team! Lololololol
Sorry. Had to. But seriously. I feel that perhaps it's best that the filter happens a bit later than sooner. It actually helps players stay in the game, which is Zuperman's ultimate goal. If the goal was to build an ideal community, I would agree and sign. But it frankly isn't.
Wait. Are you saying I would get to kill people who've never fired a bullet before? I'm in.

I completely agree with this. The noob servers are not moderated as much since mods are in the normal servers.

I am totally in agreement with this! You make some great points Mac, but I just assume weed out the weaklings and or idiots early on.
There just seems to be so much garbage and the like, especially in WC, that I do believe it will make the better and more honorable pilots tend to stray. Who knows....

but who knows how many strong and good people will get weeded out as well, is what I'm saying. People NEED to see what this game has to offer before they get crushed.

I totally get your point Mac, and it surely makes sense. Perhaps the answer is, shorten the stay in noob servers? Maybe the first 3 in noob servers, then you move up!

Good points Mac, but I disagree that good pilots might get weeded out, I got my bottom whooped by Wig, Blue Max & Crockett in my first game (No jokes please)! And I loved the challenge! I do agree that a shorter stay in the noob server might help, I will add that to the petition!

I agree with the spirit of what you're proposing. The culture coming out of an unmoderated and unguided (by anyone possessing sportsmanship) player base is like Lord of the Flies.

But realisitically, Zup won't do this. The bitch-to-Z factor will go up, and his email inbox will get flooded. So as a backup, I support the follow-on Plan B to shorten the stay on the noob server, so they can move to the Established Sportsmanship Server before they get too used to eating each other without utensils.

This makes no sense, getting rid of the noob server will put new pilots into the Lions Den. They will be all over Google Play commenting on how unfair the game is because they have no chance against the seasoned pilots and to say its better practice is ridiculous. They will be slaughtered and scared away from the game. This is a great game, but it is a business and as a business the last thing Zup wants is for players to be scared away and for the game to build a rep as being unfair.

Removing the noob server would be a terrible idea. Having the noob server dogfight has grown. You're always going to have bad apples.

I agree Rat leave the noobs where they are...what were experiencing right now is theres only a couple of mods and everyones getting away with way too much...putting all us together wont help the fact that theres bad apples in this game....

... whereas the teamkilling, swearing, and general nastiness of noob server graduates won't scare any of the Big Kid Server players away, because... they are already addicted to the game by then

Nah just kidding, I agree that the Complaint Factor will keep Z from merging the servers. But RedB can certainly make the case. Somethin's gotta be done about the nasty noobs that result from this. Yeeeesh!

I reckon that by the time nooblets reach Level 8, some of them would start feeling invincible and feel entitled so to speak.. An earlier exposure to the lions' den would be a good wake up call to the newbies who developed an ego at this stage.

Maybe put the noobs in with the lions and make it so u need 6 hits to kill them.

If memory serves me right, when a newbie reaches level 8, s/he is automatically sent to the big boy server. I agree with an earlier post that the noob server be limited to the first three levels. I reckon three starting levels are enough for noobs get a grip of the basics of the game and at the same time, many of them have yet to develop and oversized ego.

Thank you all for the great points, one of the main problems is that these noobs don't get a knock in the ego when they hit level 8, they don't listen to anyone! And by not weeding the "bad apples" out early, it makes it a ton harder for the mods to deal with them and that's where the bad reviews come in!

This is a lot more then "bad apples" too, it was never this bad, I can't play a game without a couple spawnkilling, teamkilling, camping, foul mouthed noobs that don't care what anyone says.

I agree that people complaining would be very bad, so I agree that a complete combining of the servers might cause more problems then it would solve. I'm going to remove the get rid of noob server proposal, and just make it for lessening the time that noobs are in it,

Back in the day, there was NO Noob server. Everyone was together. You got your butt handed to you, but you learned quickly.

Exactly! We learned quickly and enjoyed it more, now noobs don't get to learn, they think they're the best until they level up! Then they get mad and call everyone who can fly better then them, that they're hackers, cheaters, etc.

Noobs would get their butt killed with these new planes.

A lot of multiplayer games I play have a system similar to Dogfight. You start out in some sort of "noob server" and play there until you gain sufficient rank or skill.

Other games have a matchmaking system that systematically creates lobbies of equally-skilled players to play together. However, these are usually games with VERY large player bases.

I don't think we should completely remove our noob servers. It's one way how Dogfight has grown over the years. Also, it makes the rest of us who had to toil with the big guns when we first started out much more proud of our crucible.

I hope so too, I really think that lessening the time noobs are in their server will help cool all these big egos coming out of there.

Hate to say this but review last 4 pages of blacklist its not all noobs doing these things....

Everyone has an ego in this game cmon lol, lets be realistic here. If no one had an ego there wouldnt be a blacklist thread. A good example is the new "who has never bought points thread" all i see in there is pilots bragging how they earned their points, nothing wrong with that its honorable, but everyone has an ego.
