I'm not sure how Tex and Brian feel about being required to participate in any and all vetting processes. If it sounds like too much of a commitment, say the word. I only mention you two as you're the less gabby-bastardly of the bunch. Tex, if at all possible I would really like you to be a part of this. Brian, you as well. I'd like us to consider Sputnik for the board should one of the above mentioned opt out. Also Mavrk and, were he to take up the M.O.M mantle again, Michael Smurf Economy Mayan the Third. Esquire. The object is to keep it an odd number. These guys are about as odd as it gets.

The key is to be a representative sampling, pay attention to the votes cast by fellow M.O.Ms - no change there, everyone still gets an equal say, the board merely organizes the info and does the light "background check" - and be prepared to vote on ALL new prospects so there's more consistent procedural...y'know...procedures, applied.

I do not want us to go the way of some other squads, with recruitment officers and evaluation officers, with evaluation periods of weeks and what have you. Our spontaneity is a king pin of our squad, it's what makes this squad and thread so alive. But that said, I feel Wig is right, we have reached a point where we need to exercise some control. We grow larger, if not by the day, at least by the week! The bigger a company, or indeed a nation, an empire gets, the more some control must be put in place, otherwise you end up with chaos, fragmentation and eventual collapse.
I'm a fairly easy going type and that's what I love so much about this squad, so to keep it that way, I really do think and have done for awhile, that control has to be exercised, at least to some small degree.

And Wig, thank you for including me in your choice of board members, to be named along with such prestigious members of this squad is an honour indeed.

I've been in a few games with Cubanoloco and I've not seen any of the behaviour mentioned, so perhaps we should at least ask him to come by and explain himself before we pass judgement, if he refuses or is unable to give a reasonable explanation and a guarantee such actions will not be repeated, then he should not be accepted into the squad .

So let's say...we revisit the "Board of Admissions", gently drop those members who rarely or never vote, create a new board comprised of only active threadsters, and actually take a longer, harder look at each new prospect before just hauling off and parroting"IN!". And the board, after devoting at least a few minutes to checking the BlackList thread, sleuthing around a bit, soliciting input via PM from any and all interested M.O.Ms, makes a more informed decision...with ALL board members voting, not just the one or two we've been rolling with so far. .

Meanwhile, Cubanoloco91, you are by no means being given the hot light and rubber hose treatment here. We've been made aware of some issues, we naturally need to address those to the satisfaction of any skeptical M.O.Ms before declaring you officially in. It's really only what we should have been doing all along, nothing personal. Except for the personal parts. Let us hear from you as soon as you see this. I've played with you numerous times and never seen anything questionable. Other M.O.Ms have other experiences with you...and screen caps to back up their concerns. Anyone can have a bad...month. And anyone can change his or her attitude. Your invitation to join M.O.M was at the behest of several members. Now there are members who aren't so sure. Let's play it as if those two facts cancel each other out and we're beginning the interview from scratch. We all know you're a highly skilled player, now we need you to let us know where you stand on spawn killing, team killing, blue-hangar-bombing and vulgar or abusive language. Wig. I generally like passive hippies. I just don't want to be compelled into being one myself. . In my time here Cubanloco has been a very good player. Very aggressive. His "style" per se, is probably more like mine than anyone on here. I've certainly never seen him teamkill, or bomb his own hangars. Spawning? I really don't remember, to be honest, as I don't get bent out of shape about it as many people do. (aka were this real you would definitely snipe, spawn, tank or whatever to keep your brothers alive). Teamkilling is my big thing, and I havent witnessed it from him. Maybe he started that way and then decided he wanted to play. I will also say that had I ever pursued building that "pure evil" gag, he was the first guy I would have asked. So... If he pissed off the wheels around here, then I guess he's screwed... But that's my take on him.

If it's something you're interested in doing you're one of the members I most wanted to include. I honestly just thought you'd rather not be bothered. Your contribution to this thread and this squadron are essential. My original idea was that the charter members would make up the Board of Admissions.

I don't post often, just when something catches my eye or I feel like throwing in my two cents. I love this game and the community that makes up such huge part of it. This squad was my only choice going in. If I weren't a M.O.M. I'd just be a rouge. I hope my not voicing my opinion on potential members has not been taken as a lack of interest in who we are. I just feel like I haven't been around long enough to carry any weight. It's funny cause I really like the free flow aspect of how this squad operates. The organized chaos, if you will. That being said, with the number of people that express interest in joining this dysfunctional family, it makes perfect sense that some controls be introduced. It would be a shame to have the M.O.M. Squad dragged through the mud because we were derelict in our duties and allowed someone who didn't represent the standards laid out in rule 36 ( or maybe it's 37, I don't know, I can't read) to misrepresent the brand. (We are trademarked right?) I'd like to think I play this game tough but fair. It really bothers me when I see or am the victim of someone who plays in a selfish or cowardly way. I want to help make this game as great as we all see it potentially being. It's so close now, just needs some tweaking. I'm not looking for any appointment to a position, but wanted you guys to know I think you are all doing a great job of keeping the shiny side up and am here to help in any way I can. The people that have been suggested to the board of admissions all get my vote and support. Thanks again and see you in the skies!

I agree/disagree with everything that's been said on the topic du jour, except those parts I neither disagree/agree with.

That being said, if it ain't broke maybe don't fix it, amirite?

Lets review: a player gets voted in. Then other players point out some problems those who voted may not have been aware of. Then the situation is addressed. The potentially problematic recruit is invited to give his side of the story. Ball is in his court now.

So ... Isn't that what's supposed to happen?

Not that I have anything against rearranging the deck chairs on the board of admissions every now and then.
