I logged onto the forum today after a nine-hour work day. Work wasn't fun today. I just wanted a break.
I sat down, checked my pms. The usual. Then, I began perusing the threads.
The top one caught my eye. Judy Mantz: "BIRDBRAINBESE" has passed away. I left my condolences.
I change to the M.O.M thread, when I see that Rick's father has also passed away. He had told me in an email that his dad was on his deathbed, but the news was no less tragic for it. I've read a combined three pages of love, solemn joy, and friendship.
And instead of any sadness, I feel a sense of wonderment. A type of strange camaraderie. A community that has seemed to be unraveling at the seams, joined together in one moment of pure sympathy.
I see not just friends and companions, I see rivals and bittersweet foes giving condolences and thanks. It just seems to show that however petty and trivial this game and its matters may be, in the end, we can all come together, a kind of solemn unity induced by sympathy.
So thank you to all, and Rest In Peace Mr. Wiggins and BIRDBRAINBESE. Two individuals who lived long, fruitful lives, and were ready to depart. Thank you for your part in restoring my cynical faith.
Absolutely sincerely (however melodramatic it may seem)
