If the other side is outmanned and outgunned , I personally would never consider switching to the other side, unless I were already on the other side, which being outmanned and outgunned, would not be a very good side to be on, so switching would be the sensible and logical thingy to do.
That said, if I'm on the big guys (Tex) side, I would never switch,on the other hand if I'm not on the big guys side I will switch, or hide, whichever comes first, anyone with a BBQ like what he's got has to be treated with the utmost respect.

Now further to my request for a synopsis of what has happened or not happened or might even happen if it does happen or won't happen if it doesn't happen....I just happened to have forgotten, I don't know what has caused this, it's either the dementia, or the alzheimers....I forget....what did I just forget...... :S :pinch:

We have roughly 192 members (give or take a few) including inactive MOMs which could come back at any time. Although I love how big we are getting and our global dominance, we can't possibly control that number. I think Tex might have hit the nail on the head with his post.

Whilst I do not see a problem I do envisage one.If it is deemed that the squad is too big,how do you make it smaller?Do you dump anyone who is not mean, old or a man?Should it been done on time served?Rank?
If anyone seems that a member does something which goes against the ethos of MOM,could it not be dealt with by a PM or something like?
I just hope we are not about to implode!!

Striker, Tex and I have been talking over the question of M.O.M Expansion for almost as long as there's been a M.O.M. He knows I agree with the foundation of his position and he knows why we've allowed the club to grow. There was never any one right way to approach it, we've done the best we could with the available options and aside from a few rotten apples who threw themselves out of our barrel I'm proud of the entire group and of each and every individual in it. I don't know how we could be more satisfied with the way M.O.M has developed, matured and not only hung together but strengthened over the years. Screw the buggy game app, it's this assemblage of far flung friends that keeps me around. Pretty sure I can speak for at least a bunch of us.

Simon, no purging of the ranks will be occurring 'round here, nosir.

M.O.M's ranks tend to purge themselves, I've found.

I don't know what it is. The lack of squadron policies, the sense of humor, the nonexistent squad military structure: the bad eggs seem to crack themselves out. Players such as "M_ _ _" "J_ _ _ _ _ _ _ " "D_ _ _" (at least, according to some) Khaos King, T-Rex, "B _ _" "C_ _ _"

I've eliminated full names to avoid players thinking I don't like them. I've had no trouble with any but two of the pilots I partially named. Especially Khaos King. He was a deuce.

I like the vast majority of M.O.Ms I run across. There are occasionally a couple that make me think "Ooooookay..." But beyond that, Camaraderie, Rule 11-hood, and cake reign supreme.
You're getting predictable, guys. You can do better, right?

Just to be clear......

I think Tex is right, but sometimes it's hard or impossible to get back into the same game, let alone the same side of that game to continue after another 'battery at 10%' warning.

Personally I hardly ever change, because of that.
I only try if I see some mid level players like me, but with an even worse attitude gang up on some noob, or nice player.

Really love that,.......if I can get back in.

Like most of us I like to fly with my fellow MOMs to much and make up a quick excuse why in thís case it is best NOT to change.

If I enter a mission with a M.O.M in red I leave and either come back in blue or try another server. Only if there are M.O.Ms both red and blue will I intentionally go against a squad-mate and sometimes in those cases I just leave.

If I enter a mission and someone is on a triple digit kill streak, I leave so as not to upset the flow. Unless he's a tool. Then I make sure to be red.

If I enter a mission with someone severely outnumbered I leave and try to come back on his side.

If I enter a mission as one of the only blues against heavy odds I stay, that's my fave. If one of the reds is a f*cknozzle called Dtx I will stay from now on and shred his spawnkilling ass. (Thanks Jeromy, for taking him down for me while red, I was distracted here and not in a good way.)

Listen M.O.Ms, it isn't rocket science; observe Rule 6 in all things and you'll never go too far wrong.

Phew-glad there is no implosion coming!!
I'm the same as most-always play with MOMs unless,as happened earlier, had MOM v MOM by mutual agreement ( this is also fun!).I would never swop for this purpose though as it defeats the object really!
Dix and I had a blast today in our ongoing points battle.BULLET was in there too along with several others.Good games, good humour and great company.Thank you all (apart from QBJ who shot me all up in one of the prementioned by mutual agreement MOM on MoM games! He's good. Thanks for the fun Jeff.

Rick, I've spent twenty minutes looking for your banner's tattoo, and can't seem to find it. I never get tired of looking, obviously, but I keep forgetting exactly what I'm looking for...

Just spent the last hour or so pitting my wits against Tinkerhell. Had a really good game which was blighted slightly by the presence of a lagging sneaker by the name of (((DOMDOM))). As people came and went, the odds kept changing, but they eventually left leaving Tink as red and Dom and myself as blue. Tink and I kept trading blows for a while and chatted for a bit, Dom was still lagging and wouldn't chat. I did the gentlemanly thing after a while and left the game so Tink could dish out some punishment!

It was a pleasure playing against you, Tink! Hopefully the next time our paths cross we will be on the same side! ;)

It was a fun game even if it was somewhat frustrating to have to put 30-40bullets in dondon to kill him, but it was pleasant to see him die 3 times in a row when he finally did die
Unfortunately he left soon after you. Got to kill him 8 more times. Then as I was going back to reload for the final bombing I got kicked
I have only seen that one time earlier in game and that was before I was a M.O.M and by a mod.
Now I was all alone in the game...

Hopefully next time I see you kami, it'll be in blue. Thanks for a fun game.

Guys, we lost my dad a few hours ago. Enough of you knew he was ill that I wanted to let you know, and to let you know how deeply I've appreciated your kind words and compassion.

He was a history buff, particularly Revolutionary War, WWII and Korean War related studies. WWI was of less interest to him but he recognized the appeal of it as an area of scholarship. He definitely identified with the free-spirit character of Great War pilots.

As a member of the Army intelligence service during the cold war one of his duties was guarding the president. It was on one of these assignments in 1955, as an undercover agent at Fitzsimmons Veterans Hospital while President Dwight Eisenhower was recovering from a widely publicized heart attack, that my dad was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and told he had a year to live. He was 21. When he passed away tonight he was 80. A wonderful wife, two children and six bonus decades later, he died at home in his bed. A full lifetime of defying the odds.

I mention this for the benefit of any friends here who might be contending with traumas of their own. What you think your future is, what someone tells you it is, and what it proves to be are rarely the same. We only have the moment we're in, and in this moment we're as alive and vital as we've ever been and ever will be. Live the moment like a young soldier whose doctor just told him to get his affairs in order because he wouldn't see another Christmas. The past is a story we tell ourselves, the future doesn't exist, all we have is the present. Try to make it count.

Apologies for the vaguely preachy post, and again, thanks for all the friendship and support. To those with whom I haven't communicated know that it's only been because events were moving too fast, the people I've told I've told in passing in some other context. By being here and sustaining the fun of this club you've all been immeasurably helpful through a difficult time.

Rick
