That's my guess, it would help stop those head-on shootings. But I can bet my kidney that tons of people would be pissed because of that. In fact the shooting distance on Elite was reduced compared to df1 and lot of people complained because they liked their laser beams.

Just add diffusion at distances to the bullets so that you can only really shoot accurately at close range. Then to stop turn fights from becoming a mindless frenzy as some would call them, add energy to the aircraft. The harder the turn and the more multiples of gravity you pull the slower your plane gets. After a certain G strain the aircraft should constantly decelerate till they stall. This would elimnate the ridicules boringness of head on shooting and get red of the other ridiculous boringness that the turn fighting can turn into. Also by adding energy fighting you would have more options in the flight models of the aircraft creating a broader diversity among the players on the aircraft they fly and their rolls in combat. For instance you would have aircraft because of their lift could maintain tighter and harder turns white out bleeding off to much speed. (triplanes and the Sopwith Camel for instance.)You would also have aircraft like the albatrosses and the se5a which would have a higher top speed that would be well equipped for zoom and boom tactics but if were used in a turn fight would bleed speed off very quickly. That is only a few of the angles that could be taken.

All in all I personally believe that if you add bullet diffusion as the distance increased, and add energy in a more significant way than it currently is were it mostly determined by the amount of bombs carried by the pilot but was instead was in terms of altitude engine power and the aircrafts ability to sustain a turn with out bleeding off energy you would be opening a multitude of doors as fare as game play would go. It would give players more options on what aircraft they can fly competitively and the tactics they could use. People might get angry at first but in the long run once everyone gets used to it, they will like it more than the current system. I also believe it will draw more people in and generate more CA$H. It also would completely eliminate all the arguments on dropping and not dropping because if the energy system is made properly a person with a bomb by using careful maneuvering and altitude control or zoom and boom tactics could very easily outmatch a person who has dropped their bombs. It would come down to who was more conservative with their energy and who made the wisest moves at the right time.

Good input here.

I love the new sky. and the sun ghost as you turn high. But I've just realised, there IS NO sun.

Possible add on in future:
How about a real sun and sunstrike that whites out vision if you look up into it. The we could do the classic dive out of the sun attack.

a couple quick observations, check 'em out and let me know if it is just my set up

Win10 users... if you put an icon in the task bar it keeps you logged in even when you quit the game... that may be why some show up even tho they are not currently on...

Win8.1
keeps you logged in all the time unless you go to task manager , select the game and hit end task...

had a friend try a game on a 'discount' tablet only to find out the tablet came embedded with advertising software... tough to find and be rid of or there is a one time fee...

as far as i can tell, you show up as 'online' as soon as you open the DFE app, it doesn't differentiate between those actually playing a game or not. after i completely exit the app, i don't think it shows me as being online. let me know if i'm mistaken, since i obviously can't check once i close the app.

easy to check...

quit the game as usual...
open 'task manager'...
click on the 'processes' tab to see if the app is still running
once in the processes tab, you can select 'view' then the 'group apps by type' to find it easier

S. E. Dailey wrote: I had to take a break from the skies for a bit, and, now that I'm back, I haven't really logged enough air time to nail down the full impact of differences that have come in the last series of updates.

Bullet drop doesn't seem to have as much of an impact as it did a few weeks ago, even for me (and I haven't played enough lately to have gotten use to it). Did Zup actually "nerf" the bullet drop to appease the whining duelist or has everyone just gotten use to it and adapted?

My planes also seem markedly slower/more sluggish than they did a few weeks back. Did Zup also dial back speed/handling on the WWI planes in these last updates?

I'm kind of at the same point as Cundall; Elite showed a lot of potential, but it's not turning out to be as different as I had hoped. I doubt I will ever spend enough time to become one of the top tunnel of death duelists/snipers here, and, frankly, I have no desire to.

At the risk of starting a flame war here, I'll use the word reality . . . outside of Hollywood, there is little evidence of the head-on, extreme limit of weapon range kill prior to the deployment of air-to-air guided missiles (long after WWI/WWII). Ambush tactics, sneaking, and turn fighting would be closer to reality. A flight simulator that effectively discourages those tactics, and doesn't even have a cockpit anymore (sorry, one of my personal pet peeves) seems to be moving farther away from reality.

Fly up the middle, shoot, live or die, rinse, repeat eventually just isn't all that entertaining.

.

these fly up the middle head on fighting game after game bores me to tears, and if you try anyone hing different the crybabies start in with the "thats not fair wah wah wah" lol. really, fair in a fight, please, r the sides arent even you gotta come straight at me wah wah wah,not many seem to even care about mission. bullet drop is not very much, not like n beginning, please bringthat back zup, helps stop boring a to b games

The drop hasn't changed one single bit since Elite came out. Nothing. It is the same since version 1. It's called gravity, and I don't go around changing gravity lol

glad to hear but it rally does seem less
