How is the Marines better

Lesson 1: Proper grammar ~ How are the Marines better

Lesson 2: Proper punctuation ~ How are the Marines better?

Lesson 3: Incomplete sentence ~ How are the Marines better? [at what? or what reference? e.g. better than the other branches]

Doing just a little research I found the following (notice I'm actually doing research rather than just stating my opinion? Guess that's lesson 4 for you)

"The Marines are a branch of the military not special forces, yet are always being compared to Green Berets, Navy seals and such. I beleive that is them admitting that your everyday Marine is as good as the other branches special forces, But then you have to consider the special forces inside the Marine Corps!!! Recon, Force Recon, FAST teams and the worlds best snipers STA Platoon and the Scout Snipers."

"Well, when the SEALs were created under Kennedy's adminstration, they were trained by SEALs. One SEAL team receives more in their training budget than an entire Battalion of Marines (800-1000 Marines). Not all Marines are hard-core though...as you being a Marine you can see those nasty POGs walking all over the base living off the Grunt's glory. Reality is though, the Marine Corps is trained the exact same fashion and capacity as the Army Rangers. So in truth, the Corps-Infantry and Rangers a similar units. Therefore the step up would be Delta and SEAL. Green Beret is a completely different ball of wax...I mean no other unit in the military drops into the jungle somewhere and train rural farmers how to call for fire..especially when those farmers still think the world is flat...so made props to them. The Marine Corps gets it history by providing phenominal results with the least amount of support and funding. Of the entire DoD budget, the Marine Corps only constitutes 4% of it, and they are always operating in the black, whereas all of the other services are operating at a negative. Plus, due to the mission as outlined in the National Security Act of 48, they are the only Unit on call by the President...everyone else moves at the command of the Congress. All in all, every service is invaluable in some capacity...otherwise we wouldn't need them... "

"They are the most versatile of the armed forces WITHOUT being called Special Forces. Other than not having their own medical personnel, they have everything else. They are a force in readiness. First to go and kick the door in. They have a brotherhood/sisterhood that stays with them for LIFE. A sense of pride and title that can never be stripped from them. I guess you can say that I'm biased, but then again......"

"Every service has it's niche. I don't believe the Marines have a lock on toughness. However they do get the toughest jobs. The Marines are front line troops that don't travel with a lot of rear support. They have a reputation of improvising to get the job done. This country owes a great debt to the Marines who have bravely and selflessly served. I myself choose the Army to do my service. It was a head rush to be in a group that was 90% less intelligent than me. Glory comes in many forms."

Even the enemy tells their troops to avoid the Marines and attack the Army forces instead:

"Roger that George, and even an Army guy like me has to admit that it is always best to have a Devil Dog unit on your flank in combat because that's one flank you don't have to worry about. Here's a true story: In 2003 when the Marines and the Army 3d Infantry Division had taken down Baghdad and had truck convoys scattered all the way into Kuwait, I was a plans officer at USCENTCOM when our intelligence intercepted an order from the Iraqi insurgency commander. It was a field order to all the insurgent unit commanders and it went something like this:

"Resistance Commanders, When attacking supply and truck units you must be aware that there are two different American "armies":

1. The US Army which wears tan desert uniforms like this (photo of a Soldier wearing the old desert uniform); and.

2. The US Marine Corps which wears a different uniform like this (photo of a Marine wearing the newly issued USMC digital uniform).

When planning your attacks on supply lines and truck convoys ensure that you do NOT attack a US Marine unit. If you do, these supply-unit Marines will immediately act like Marine infantry and they will attack you and hunt every one of your men down and kill them. The US Army truck and supply units will not pursue you. Attack them instead."

As deeply embarrassing as that was to the entire US Army, it was a long time coming. As an Infantryman, I know that in the past 25 years we trained the hell out of our active duty combat units but we let the rest
of the force waste away. The Army has a long ways to go, but we have rectified some of these problems in the past four years. It's just sad that we had to let the enemy tell us how screwed up we were."

However, since educating you is like talking to a brick wall, you will probably ignore all of this and add some other totally irrelevant and asinine comment or topic that doesn't pertain to your original focus of this thread. Not to mention, you can't accept lessons graciously, and acknowledge when you have been in the wrong. You claim you're a leader not a follower, there's a lot more to being a leader than just thinking you are. Good luck in life, you'll need it unless you change your ways.

He is obviously confusing trained "by" and trained "with", which the armed forces do in order to learn how to work as a team. Back in the day it was all separate, and during the first Gulf War (Likely before but that was my experience) it was noted that each branch was operating separately without any coordination. I know it was before that I trained "with" the US army when they came onboard the USS Saratoga for a few weeks. We flew the airwing (CVW 17) off and brought the Army guys onboard. They set up tents in the hangar bay, brought all their Blackhawk helos and those little ones with the single engine where the guys hang outside to use the weapon systems. So in that sense I guess I was trained with the Army and therefore am the same....

It should be noted I have yet to meet a soldier who has completed training at Parris Island. Maybe Golden Eagles uncle was an anomaly or a pioneer. Since he has it on such good authority we are all likely wrong.

ATCS(AW/SW) J.E. Seyboldt USN (Ret)
aka Viper10

Sailor, Soldier, Marine, California National Guard, US Navy SEAL, EOD, and Air Force Airman because of all my joint "training".

That also makes me French Navy, Turkish Navy, Italian Navy, Royal Navy, Merchant marine... You get the picture.

Wow Viper that's great! You didn't know just going into the Navy you would get the same training as all those other branches, and even other country's forces. You are like Rambo on roids!

I guess since I've done some training WITH Marines, SEALS, etc. that all my training is the same too. Wow, I will start calling myself a SEAL.

Yep, using "alternate uncle logic" you sure can say you are the same as a US Navy SEAL.

Wow is this nut still on this. Smh, get over yourself dude. Your not special, except special ed it appears. No one cares about your opinion anymore, so keep it to yourself. I am a retired Marine. And you saying we cant do anything without the army, your full of it son. Marines eff ish up. Army cleans it up. Deal with it. We have our own planes, equipment, mini subs, land assault vehicles, troop and cargo transports, support choppers. As well as certain Marines meaning recon, trains along side seals for some parts of their training. We have longer and more intense training too. So if you want to keep bashing on marines saying army is better, i would love to see you say it to a leather necks face. At this point, keep your opinion to yourself. You know nothing about anything, and your ignorance is becoming annoying. Grow up, do something with your life besides being 300 lbs playing video games all day, then maybe your opion will be relevant. I dont see any army personnel guarding the president. THATS A JOB FOR MARINES. Oh yea, who is the guardians or ALL of our Embassies all over the world? Yep, Marines again. You keep bringing up things the army does, just thought id share just a few. you STEP DAD, is a good man for what he did. You, are a punk for putting him on a pedastal. Any vet here will tell you your an idiot. Ill put money down that he woulda rather died with his brothers. I know i would have. Stick to your feeble little life that we gave you. Maybe one day you will understand. But today just isnt that day. Keep TALKING. Oh, and just saying, i know plenty of people in the army who wish they joind Marines. But, you know everything so i wouldnt have to tell you that.
