I must say, I'm proud of you all. This is the first gun discussion that I've seen on this forum,that didn't get "out of hand" with insults or threats. Keep up the friendly attitude!

Ped I am not trying to incite any one and my light humour was to try to lighten it up a bit . I have been associated with guns all my life . My grand father and father were both hunters and trappers of foxes and rabbits to help our family survive through the depressions of two world wars . I grew up with traps and guns and raised both my children to handle guns with respect . This means to never point a gun at someone wether loaded or unloaded . My son uses a gun very little and prefers to fish using line and hook . Believe it or not guns can be fun if used as a sporting instrument . The olymic games would not suport this type of event if it was widely seen to be offensive . You are entitled to your opinion and I respect it . A this is a forum you do have the right not to participate in a thread you deem not to agree with . However if those that want to participate do so then please respect their right to do so . There are many different discusions on this sight and you can select wisely or you can troll them all . This is up to the individual . I bid you a nice day . Ped as I said you have a choice ...you dont have to read this thread and you stated previously you would not coment further . This is not your thread . Everybody has a right to comment on an issue they agree with . I dont troll I just look at threads that interest me . Yes you have a right to parent your own kids ...keep them off this sight if it offends you . So far you are the only one complaining ...what does that tell you . Your lawn and trespassing lmfao . Of course parents should keep their kids out of sight from gun-apology. And, knowing that, unfortunately, not every mom or dad is watching what their kids do on internet on a "24/7" basis, I decided to ask the gun-enthusiasts to avoid this apology on THIS FORUM. You are the one missing the comunication here: I am not asking you to change your mind and become a non-gun-guy. I am not asking USA (or Australian, or whatever) government to change laws. I am just asking this forum's members to avoid talking about guns HERE. That simple!

But if stubborn, selfish people like you refuses to respect other member's culture, and refuses to do a simple favor (that is avoiding gun-apology on a game forum), to help some parents to prevent their kids from making contact with a culture that is not apropriate for them, you should at least ADMIT it, and stop bullying and ironizing and insulting others with your "mine-is-bigger" stupidiy. Well a few fact for you bud . I am a self made multi millionare . I own a sheep station in out back Australia and several portfolios . I did this by working very hard and dilligent all my life and being a high achiever . I am retired by 50 years of age living on a tropical island paradise . I did a lot of hard yards and have a very high IQ for your info . Worked as a senior exec for Kimberly Clarke for 23 years . Traveled the world for them . My son is 30 years of age and has been involved with guns all his life having been taught the correct way to handle them from age of 6 . He now owns his own engeneering firm in Port Headland Australia . My Daughter is 28 years of age and is a cheif executive administer for a senior polititian in Canberra . Also raised in correct usage and handling of firearms . In between time I raced for Honda Moto X for 15 years and competed in Field and Game events . Please dont insult my inteligence by tring to belittle me by saying if I have the guts . I understand your sentiments here but I completely disagree about whether or not it is appropriate to talk about guns here. The way I see it is that this is a quasi-historical war game. Every moment you are in-game you have control of a "firearm" and you either use it against the enemy or the enemy uses one against you.

Saying that a discussion on the forum is out of place because it exposes anyone to guns is just silly. If this were a car racing game I might agree with you but not here. There are many opportunities to speak about weapons and the development of weaponry without going off topic. Even speaking about arms control is appropriate as many armistice laws went into effect at the end of the war. If you would like to make your points about media encouraging weapon use you are free to do so, but please understand that people are free to discuss weapons here and it is not off-topic to do so on this forum.


I had a comment to make about mental health and gun control:

One of my sons 19 year old friends is being sentenced tomorrow for murdering 2 members of his foster family and for greviously wounding two others. He was always very unstable and had a record of threats, petty crime and drug use. In spite of this he was not eligible for any mental health services but he was eligible to buy a gun. "Fortunate" hardly seems like the right word here but fortunately
He chose knives as his weapons instead of guns and in his spree of murder he stopped when he came face to face with the two teenaged girls in the house. I wonder if he would have had an easier time pulling a trigger than slitting their throats and stabbing as he did the others. This kid was one of the most polite of the kids who would come to our house. He spent many nights here and always thanked us for meals and just for letting him stay. We have since heard stories that he had lots of violent fantasies which were largely fed by playing high resolution killing games. Believe me, dogfight was far too tame for his interests. I thank whatever powers may be that he did not choose a gun as his murder weapon, I feel certain that more would have died if he had. Some of the conversations in the community have included the resistance from gun enthusiasts to allow any discussion of limiting gun ownership even in cases of mental instability. Whatever happens, more discussion is needed and clear heads are going to be required. Please make your points but don't try to silence others.

I don't know everyone's IQ. I can tell one's IQ by his way of arguing. Just look at his bully style of "debating".

Sorry to hear that Mac . Mental illness is something that goes very deep in todays society but we dont spend anywhere near the resources on it that is required to come to a better understanding of what this problem is about . I have a few friends and fanily that are sufferers of mental health issues and all they want is a bit of understanding . Talking about it is the hardest thing they find to do . Until you understand their plight and pain you cant imagine what they must be going through .

On the topic of mass killings in schools in the U.S. many people in the rest of the world are just puzzled that such an advanced country isn't able to prevent this, since these happen time after time again. But most countries have had some incidents like these lately because guns weren't locked away properly or too easily available. It's kind of a new thing.
Now why should this be a good devellopment?

I am sure with the next president, maybe Trump, things will change for the better over there.

I think owning a gun is like practicing martial art. If you aren't an expert you are still in the "look at my bad-assedness" phase, you are insecure. But, sure we are all excited about about our favourite topics, be it our car, our hobby or our gun.

ummm the gun buy back was done in 1995 not 12 months ago. Think you might want to check some figures from the last 20 years and not from just 1996.
In the 5 years before the 1995 buy back there was a spate of lone gunman going on rampages in shopping centres, at workplace, etc . Since then there has not been a massacre sited.
Seems to me that it worked.
It's generally not the bad guy that goes on a rampage, just someone who has lost it and has access to weapons.

Heff I took those quotes from the time of Buy back not once did I imply a date . I since found out that several ....no thousands of weapons that were supposed to go into liquidation found their way back onto the streets . I dont believe I gave a year in front of my quote .
