What a difference a lifetime makes. I can remember as a kid hearing that the Russians put up the first satellite. And all it did was go beep beep beep. It was amazing.

Now current estimates are
3600 satellites currently in orbit,
22,000 — estimated number of pieces of space debris measuring 10 centimetres or more in diameter in 2011, according to the U.S. Strategic Command, up from 17,000 in 2007.
500,000-plus — the current number of debris objects measuring between one and 10 centimetres, according to NASA's Orbital Debris Program Office.
6.3 million kilograms — estimated mass of all the objects in Earth orbit at the beginning of 2012
100 Tonnes - Estimate of space junk falls out of orbit per year.
On average one man made object falls to earth each day, about 1/2 a dozen people have been known to have been injured by falling debris

Soooo.... What will it be like at the end of you're lifetime kids?

99.9% of the terrestrial biomass is vegetation.
So 25% is not good enough.
You'll all need to eat more, before it overruns us!

i beg to differ, think you should do some research on that one and not rely on urban myth

heff, to put this bluntly, no disrespect intended, you were wrong. I had some light, prior research of this fact beforehand, and when you said what you did, I did even more research. I wasn't the one spreading misinformation, you were. Please do not inform me of how I was wrong, unless you have solid evidence to support your claims, because then I will be completely willing to post a new fact to replace the old one. Speaking of which, today's fact (which is indeed very true): cats can't taste sugar.

Contrary to popular belief, sugar does not melt.

Once it receives enough heat over time it begins to decompose.

Jupiter is actually classified as a more "failed star" than a planet, because it's gravity is so great it actually compresses at about one millimeter per year. If it had about 80 times the mass it does now, Earth would have a second star.
