Comet and BX-3 are among the nominees. There are a lot of pilots who should be, but aren't.
LET ME BE CLEAR ON THIS, I am not taking over this thread, just trying to revive it. I saw how the entire community raced to participate in this thread. I am more than willing to help, but we need some people with a better knowledge of writing BB code than I have to get names on the chart. I will post the tallies by number of votes in different posts. Again, this is Calvin's thread, just want to see it get updated. We were all anxious to make nominations, now let's all do a little to get it caught up. Trust me, it is a lot of work going through six pages of names!

Lol those numbers sure can make your eyes cross. But if you really want them to hurt, get a migraine and get nauseated ask foust, T, or Bz to show you all the codes for the badges on the front of the Misfits thread. Trust me when I say that the numbers will be a whole lot easier to look at.

This game's been around 5+ years now, I think it's time we acknowledge those who've had the greatest impact on the game and forum.

Hall of Fame Rules

1 - Players can be nominated to the Hall of Fame through this thread, and this thread only. If you nominate someone on another thread, you must re-post your nomination here. This should help avoid confusion.

2 - A nomination should include any name that the player has gone by. This includes names used only on the forum, or only in-game. Use full/official names if there could be confusion about who you're referring to if a nickname/shortened name is used. (E.G. "I nominate Wat Up" is fine, because Wat Up Dogfight is the only influential "Wat Up" ever. "I nominate Von", is not, as this could refer to Von Pay or Von Hulk.) If it's not clear who you nominate, please clarify when asked.
2.1 - If a vote is cast for the incorrect person due to a misunderstanding, it will count as a nomination (Provided that the vote is clear in who it is cast for).
2.2 - Distinctions of any player must be included in a nomination, or they will likely not be included.
2.3 - You may not nominate yourself.

3 - There will be two separate categories: The Hall of Fame, and the Hall of Shame. The Hall of Fame is for those who've positively impacted the community, and the Hall of Shame is for those who did the opposite. When nominating, please specify which Hall you are nominating someone for. A player may be nominated for both Halls at once.
3.1 - If a player is elected to both Halls, he/she will be included in both, with an asterisk or similar mark will be placed next to their name in both Halls.

4 - Rules for voting are less strict than those for nominations. Common names and nicknames are perfectly acceptable, as long as two people with similar common names aren't on the ballot at the time. (Once again, don't vote for "Von" if Von Pay and Von Hulk are both awaiting election.) Similarly, if a player is nominated for both the Hall of Fame and the Hall of Shame, please specify where your vote is cast. You may not vote for both.
2.1 applies.
4.1 -Distinctions of any player must be included in a vote if they have not already been stated. They may not be included otherwise.
4.2 - You may not vote for yourself.

5 - In order to be elected to either hall, you must have a vote cast for you by six separate players.

6 - In the case of players that have been retired/ banned for a long enough time that six votes is an unreasonable expectation, one may be voted in by general consensus of those who were active at the same time as the retiree in question.

7 - You can only vote for a player once. If you wish to change your vote to the opposite Hall, or retract it completely, please say so in a separate post.
7.1 - A vote from Zuperman (or any present or past Echoboom staff member- moderators not included) counts for 6 votes. They may edit this post to include the person themselves, if they like. The rules of this thread do not, however, condone removing a player from either Hall, or transferring them to the other.
7.2 - A vote from Jimmy the Lip counts for 83 votes.
7.3 - A vote from the troll under the bridge or any terrifying creatures in the tunnels count as a Hall of Shame vote for them. We don't like you guys! Go away!

After going back through and double checking numbers, Airpix and Cricket also gathered enough votes for induction into the Hall of Fame. Congrats!

OK, think I some what figured out how to update the list. What possessed me to do this other than my love of the Game and Community that has grown around it, escapes me. I tried to replace the names of the Pilots who moved into The Hall with the Pilots who had the most votes among the nominees. If a pilot was already on the list of nominees, vote totals were changed to reflect the current numbers.
As for distinctions I did not add any, as there are some I'm not sure about. There are still many names to add. I think I have the file set up where I can share it if anyone wants to work on it. Thanks Sir Cannon! Once I get it caught up, I'm going to need lots of help with the distinctions, MORAFS, and such. Maybe if a few of you could just do some reviews on the listed names. Let's get everybody on here first. It just got so out of hand it's a bit overwhelming. I'm giving it my best! I''ll look back through, don't think you voted for Brother Rap. He is almost in. There are a lot of pilots That I was surprised to not find mentioned. And some with only a couple votes. We'll get to the Shamers once all the respected pilots are listed. 3.1 - If a player is elected to both Halls, he/she will be included in both, with an asterisk or similar mark will be placed next to their name in both Halls.

4 - Rules for voting are less strict than those for nominations. Common names and nicknames are perfectly acceptable, as long as two people with similar common names aren't on the ballot at the time. (Once again, don't vote for "Von" if Von Pay and Von Hulk are both awaiting election.) Similarly, if a player is nominated for both the Hall of Fame and the Hall of Shame, please specify where your vote is cast. You may not vote for both.

Hey, i think that i have a vote from nine ball. Just an fyi

This is the original list. I posted a partially updated list last night. You do have a vote from Nine Ball and I believe one other. Still about 30 names to add.

Just so everyone knows, this list is not fully updated. I'm getting there. Honestly didn't intend to become the caretaker, but it's a good thing and I will do my best until Calvin comes back to take over.
There are still about 30 names that need to be added. Back to work, so I will only have a couple hours to work on it. Blue Fighter and Monster Cannon have offered their help, I'll send you guys a PM later.
As backed up as the nominations were, it's going to be about a week before everything is caught up.
In the mean time, if we could all refrain from adding nominees and votes it will be a big help! I will post and let everyone know when the "Hall" is officially open for business! From that point I will try to update the list once a week. And again, anyone who wants to help out please let me know. Kinda like The Santa Clause, should have read the fine print before I put the suit on! LOL! Just kidding, happy to do this, just please be patient!

Here is a thought...this thread will get confusing quickly...i propose a new thread either for nominations or to keep the actual board. If the latter is chosen, this thread can be maintained only for nominations and the other thread for the actual board...just a thought.

Why not start it all over and each player can only cast one vote each month? That way the updates will be much less and the hall of fame will have a bit more integrity and not look more likelist of the popular pilots since almost everyone is included in this hall of fame I think. Hope this isnt harsh just fell if you are going to have one it should be hall of fame type players exclusively...myself for example not really hall of fame compared to Davy or wig or Bstrachan...my two cents

I was thinking 'poor Calvin!' When he started this. It was so open ended! I think it may have been better if the nominations were limited and that it ran for only a certain period of time. Say: you could only nominate up to 5 players and the votes would only be taken for 30 days or so. Then it could be reopened every 6 months or so.

I worry that Calvin spent too much of his time on this and his school studies suffered.

Ok, these are good ideas. So let's put it to the community as to what we want. I just wanted to keep something positive going. Again never intended to take over, just wanted to get it up to date. Honestly, this weekend was one of the first times in the past few weeks that I had time to play and instead, I spent hours combing through these pages. I agree it seems just about everyone has a vote, hell I've got 3 and I certainly don't belong in a Hall of Fame. I'll start a new thread later tonight addressing the community and see what we get. It also needs to be more than one person involved so no one is overwhelmed and there is a back up plan if something unexpected were to happen. Mc Fate and Whip, you are both respected throughout, wod you be willing to be a part? I like the idea of limited noms and induction periods. But I'm not going to sink any more time in this if we can do it a better way. Love being a part of this community, but ultimately, I want to have time to play as well. So let's outline some ideas. Monster and Blue Fighter I'd be happy if you would be a part of this too! Von Hulk, I know you're out there, you would be an asset as well.

Don't feel you were being harsh at all. You have some good ideas. Since I've been playing, you have been a mainstay in this community, so you shouldn't feel as though you don't belong in a Hall of Fame. Induction should be based on gameplay, participation in the entire community and here on the forum. If we all try to compare ourselves to Sir Crockett or Wig, then very few of us would ever be in. For instance, maybe a person isn't in the top 100, but their contribution to this community is what they are known for. Maybe someone rarely plays, but they are always around teaching new players or supporting the game. And another good point is that almost everyone seems to have a vote. There are at least 35 names yet to be added and most have 1 vote. At work right now, but have a pretty good idea how to approach this after reading the comments from you, McFate, and Moster Cannon. We'll see where this goes. Calvin had a great idea, and I would like to see something continue. The way this thread brought everyone together is what I was trying to keep alive. Too many negative aspects in the game these days.

Ok, I know I said I would have the rest of the list up by the end of the week. Right now. Looking at some points that were raised and considering a total remodel. Worst case, I will keep my word and add the rest of the nominees and votes by the end of the weekend. If that ends up being the route, not going to promise past an updated list. Thanks for taking on the monumental task. You have every right to reset the guidelines however you see fit.

I agree, unlimited nominations dont limit people to choose who they truly believe to be up there.

Second, I really want to see something positive that the entire Dogfight Community participates in.
I've thought a lot about some of the points that were brought up and I've listened to valued opinions from a lot of you.
So.....I have decided not to continue working on this thread, sorry Calvin! But the idea you sparked will live on!
I've decided to remodel this Hall of Fame idea.
In the next day or so I will post details about the new Official Dogfight Hall of Fame 2.0!
Hope everyone will like the new direction and participate!
For those of you whose names and numbers I haven't updated on this list, I still have all the names and numbers, If time permits I'll post the totals here, but I'm not going to go through the rigors of writing the code to add them to the list! Sorry!
