Then if I get no replies, and later complaints, I can reply ...
"Well I did ask"

Screw the honor there is no honor left in this game. If dropping is now an.accepted form of flying. Well that's just fine by me. Maybe next we fan all.spawn kill.all.day long. Oh and get them.tanks right in the base now. Park them right behind the spawning point. Just shoot em all. Bit I don't see any point in carrying a bomb any more. Its accepted as good skill

I guess this is suppose to be a world war 1 game/simulation.
There never was any honour, just stupidity by the leaders and cannon fodder "fighting the way they were told to" that got millions killed.
It was "cheating" tactics that finally won it.

During ww1 there was great honor between pilots. One would not shoot a retreating plane that was damaged. It was considered poor form. When a pilot was shot Down in enemy territory they were given respect by all as they had one of the toughest jobs in all the war. At one point in the war a pilots life was measured in hours no days. But like was said over and over in this game it only a game. Do what ever you want. So why try to even bomb just go for all the kills you can get

Yeah, well that's how the movies and story tellers portray it.
I suspect reality history was a bit different to retold history.
We'll never know because we weren't there, but my dad was, and he told it differently.

But your right, how people play the game depends upon what they want out of it.

The first definition comes from others attitude towards you.
The second definition hangs on what your definition of "morally right" is, which I suspect is what the argument is about in this case.

Interesting question, if its only a game, do morals apply?

I flew how everyone was last nite it made them all mad the started to camp me after I took them all down I decided to drop also and camp them back! And well needless to say I finished the game myself cause they all left said I was cheating and camping! I was nice soon as there wheels came up and they fired I shot them down! I liked the score was 105/20 I guess if people want to keep doing I'll just start doing it back right I mean its ok for them to right so they must want to die more then they kill!

But the question that still intrigues me is in the second definition of honour. ie "do your moral values still apply, even if its only a game?"

I mean I have a "moral code" I live by in real life, and it doesn't include killing people and taking extreme risks with my own life. Yet I happily do those things in DF. Does that make me dishonourable?

And also, going back to your thread heading, is being honourable just "doing what Im told to" ?

I was about to say the same.. but then I saw your banner Auld and forgot what I was going to say...

So, you hear that, you noobs?!! Don't you dare drop or sneak! You are coming to this game-already-in-progress and we established players don't want you stepping out of line! If you're going to play a bombing game you are going to take it straight up the middle beause we, who have come before you, did it that way and we paid our dues! Shut up and let us pad our stats at your expense, it is your place and the proper way to honor your game elders.

If you can't abide by our demands you have 4 other options:

1. Dogfights (games where you have no allies, everyone is flying at full speed and trying to kill as many other planes as they can as quickly as possible. )

2. Capture the Carrier (games which require the most flying/landing skill, again full speed slaughtering.

3. Shoot the Zepp (games where you must first shoot out the engines while reds target you. If they get into your territory expect to be spawn killed repeatedly, after all, this is one of the few instances where spawnkilling is actually sanctioned but many of us veterans. )

4. Protect the zep. (Probably your best option because although many of us honorable players will abandon you so we can switch sides to gain more honorable points, you can target higher ranks who are often preoccupied with shooting the zeppelin rather than killing your sorry self. Don't worry, winning will come later.)


Back to bombing games...Those of you who have "other" ideas about strategy can piss off! There is no honor in creative play! The only reason there are any options besides going up the middle is because Zuperman is too lazy to shrink the playing field. Anyone who does not want a long game had no business playing destroy the hangar games. These are intended only for one type of player and they have been claimed as such.

Anyone lazy and devious enough to sneak is so below our code of honor that you will be shunned along with the disobedient noobs. If you are a dropper forget it! You are not worthy of the game. Any experienced players should abandon your side and the reds should spawn kill you every chance they get.

We want only players with honor! Honor is only legitimate as defined by us. Pay no attenetion to the game rules. Once again these positions have not been coded into the game because Zuperman is too lazy. If you do not comply with our demands it is because you are weak and pathetic. We are honor bound to tell you this with jabs and profanities in game and here on the public forum. You have absolutely no honor and are not welcome here. Be gone and ruin our games no more.

(But do be sure you recommend this game to all of your friends. )

I made Tony 69 so mad today by sneaking twice. After the firs time the conversation went like this(paraphrased of course) "I'll be watching you now" "and"- me (later on) "Tony guess what"-me "what?" hangar bombed by pheonix 22

Hey MC fate you forgot one thing when your out numbered you should just sit on the run way with your brakes on so you don't shot by the campers behind your base and let the one bomber in the game take his time to come over and bomb all your hangers.

I'm still not sure where you got the idea that anyone is trying to tell you how to play. My entire point is that as long as someone is playing within the rules no one should try to tell others what they may or may not do.

Your strength is in your honor. Your belief seems to be that there is only one type of honor here.
Please open your mind to the possibilities. You have been posting about how slighted you have felt by other players because they don't agree with your style. I'm trying to encourage you to look at the game in a way that encompasses all skill levels and strategies. Why do you want to throw away everything you have always valued because there are other points of view?

There is still room for the up the middle bombers in a Meta game. However, there is also room for people with low skills and noob planes too.



A little food for thought:

I don't like spawnkilling even when I'm coming into the allied base with a bomb. I think it is cheap kills. The incoming German bombers could easily come in slightly more from the East and avoid most of it but still have an advantage as the spawning allies try to clear the buildings. So what? I can let it make me mad and hate the game and everyone who shoots me on the runway. I can make more threads complaining about it and the players that do it. By my own standards it is not honorable because I know that there is a way to bomb without doing it. So what? I still like the game and I still like many of the players who do it.

Also, I personally don't just arbitrarily drop and chase. I only drop for what I consider valid reasons. I used to get mad at droppers and despise them. Since I started hunting them I found that there are all types and kinds of droppers. They have their own reasons and there is no way for me to enforce my point of view on them. They will always be here just like the guys who spawnkill all the way in to bomb. They are part of the dogfight community. I love this game and they are part of it.

Please stop shaming and complaining. A constructive complaint can be helpful but shaming is worthless unless it is for a real rule breaker. If you are after honor you will find none of it in shaming or berating someone whose only offence is that they have a different point of view and a different style with which they play the game.

Actually, in that circumstance, I try over and over again to get up. I get shot down over and over again. But sometimes I get up, throw my bomb and pull the other way as hard as I can and get on the camper' s 6: because he is going too fast. Then sometimes I shoot him down then shoot down the incoming red bomber. Then if their are any other campers I try to deal with them.

Then, if I survive all of that (and this has happened countless times!) I see more inbound reds. So instead of going back for a bomb I take them on, weaving and corkscrewing as I do, and sometimes I manage to push them back far enough that other blues (assuming there are any ) can get airborne before being shot at.

And you know what is usually going through my mind after all that?

No. It's not "Yea!!! I am such a badass!!!"

It's usually "Crud! Any moment now, someone is going to call me out for being a dropper."

So no. I don't complain. I adapt or I lose. Then the next game begins.

Just tor the record. Was in a game against droppers and sneakers. We were outnumbered. Then we got one more Guy as blue. So now.its 5/3 so I used some tactics that the reds were using sneaking high my two guys kept the reds busy while I snuk over and got a hanger. Oh the crying that came after we were cheating I was a dropper even though I got a hanger. And they left all crying about what I did. When they were doing it to us to start. Only proves one point droppers want it their way or no way. See I used tactics and I'm an jerk because I wasn't going to dogfight with them. Lol
