Data from X-Plane provides coordinates for runways around the world. A Boeing 777 pilot is quoted in Slate as estimating a runway length requirement of 5,000 feet.

Here is a map of all runways within the fuel capacity zone that it could've gone for..

Ok so it looks like We are now finding out the plane was most likely taken on purpose.
It seems they do now know that the pilot turned off all systems prior to making his last announcement.
The pilot is also now known to be a sympathizer with a Malaysian terrorist organization, And that this may have to do with an attempt to get some of these terrorist's released from jail.
That's the latest Big Davy ;)

Yeah I just read the same, that one of pilots is in question right now.....you would think if they took it somewhere people would notice (possibly)......

Yes, kind of hard to miss something that size,
Also I finally found some radar altitude data,
at 1;30am, the last known reported position, the altitude was 35,ooo ft.
After 1;30am the plane climbed to 45,000 ft. that is above the safe limit of 43,100ft.
It then plunged to an altitude of 23,000ft. which they speculate could have been a stall recovery.
The last Military radar contact was at 2;40am and altitude was 29,500ft.
This data was reportedly compiled by cross referencing all collected Radar data, both civilian and military.
Just sharing what I think may be a little more important than most of the speculative noise bombarding the news between Dogfight games ;) after all Tablet has to charge sometime ehh? :)

There was a reason he took it to 45,000, at that altitude if you depressurization the plane everyone will die in just a few seconds except for the pilots who are on oxygen. They probably stalled and then lost the altitude removing from it.

I believe they killed all aboard and then took the plane someplace. They absolutely knew what they were doing.

I feel sorry for the family's.

If it was a kidnapping or airplane theft event I wonder if there is a way for them to depressurize the passenger cabin first off without an explosive depressurization, and secondly in a way that would bypass the oxygen masks automatically dropping down from overhead? Perhaps they took it up to a certain height & lowered the amount of oxygen in the cabin to the point that everyone passed out so they could subdue the passengers easily?? I don't know, all I do know is that whatever happened I hope the families of the passengers and crew learn soon because it must be horrible not knowing...

This is from my friend....

"Here are two possible scenarios -
1. All the countries and orbiting satalites that can track every phone and pinpoint the hairs on a fly on your shoulder - just "lost" an airplane - and everything we see in the media is an honest response to that.
2. That one or more governments are likely to know exactly where it is. That governments like the US with the most sophisticated technology are the least likely to have lost a plane. That all this media attention seems a bit convenient - as if they really want everyone to know about this missing plane like the plane is going to be used for something.

Of these two possibilities, which is more likely? I suspect the second. "
I agree with him....

I sincerely doubt that the General pubic will ever know the truth as our government will cover it up as they did flight 800 that they said was lost due to the center tank blowing up. That was baloney and a major coverup that everyone in the investigation knows.

Yes the pilot can bleed off the oxygen in the cabin. The cockpit and cabin are on separate systems. You cannot disable the masks from falling down but those masks only have about 13 minutes of oxygen.

They are now trying to sell us that the plane is in the Indian Ocean, it could be, I don't know. I still think it was a highly professional job and the plane is hidden someplace.

What I don't know is this, how could they use that airplane again? Because if those engines ping every 30 minutes you can bet they will monitoring that, I'm not sure if that could be disabled. It would have to be a very complicated mission to complete and be able to hide this jet. HMMMMMM TIME WILL TELL

Have just read in the news that the Malyasian government is seeking diplomatic permission from Pakistan to investigate the theory that the plane flew under the radar to as Taliban held base on the Pakistan/Afghanistan border.
I dread to think what would happen if they have got hold of it :(

I agree with choice 3. In an article they said " Suspicions of hijacking or sabotage had hardened further when officials said Sunday that the last radio message from the plane and a informal "all right, good night" was spoken after the tracking system, known as "ACARS", was shut down" There is also a lot of islands that do have military/malisha bases and the plane could have been taken for possibly using to harm others in a attack against someone. A plane that large and with the carrying capacity that it has could have devastating results if put in the wrong hands.

Prayers go out to the family's and passengers.

It would likely be vaporized by some nice Air Force pilot from Kansas or something... I just feel really bad for the passengers.

Someone's already thought of it ;) head to www.tomnod.com they give you a chunk of ocean and you scroll around and if you spot anything of interest you tag it, great idea, gets pretty tedious after a while. Makes you realise how fustrating it must be for the people out there right now searching endlessly with no results  I hope they find something soon

Yes. It's the passengers and relatives who have no information I feel sorry for. I can't help but think that the climb to 45,000ft had something to do with their demise though :(

I've heard the nation of Israel is beefing up its defenses. I believe that there is information out there that we are not getting. I believe this is a viable threat, to who or what is unknown, at least by the general public.

4 days ago a USA CO. satellite found 2 large item's in the water off of the cost of Australia.
It is a credible enough discovery to get all resources now into this area, including the most sophisticated US Naval search planes (Poseidon).
The area was focused on with this, and other satellite's due to a team of experts from around the world getting together, and crunching all data, Recorded position's/drift/location/currents etc.
At this time I will withhold posting any of the speculations that I have heard pertaining to why the airliner may have ended up in this area.

They are looking for the debris but the weather is real bad, even so they cant find nothing as of yet. I wouldn't be surprised either way at this point. I still maintain that they are not telling us some of the facts.

I do not believe the airliner is in the Indian ocean, i do believe that all the governments including ours will want us to believe that though. I think it's going to be a great coverup and in the meantime the airliner is sitting on land someplace.

In case no one has heard the latest,
The PM of Malaysia has informed the families of the missing airliner, that it went down in the southern Indian ocean, and that there are no survivor's.
This conclusion has been reached due to ping data collected by a British satellite(s).

What I don't understand is, if debris is spotted from an aeroplane why a beacon transmitting marker buoy is not deployed instead of just flair smoke. Surely they could hit the debris with one. I know quite a few on here could. Am I missing something. It doesn't make sense to me.

Well lets lighten up the forum again

What are your thoughts on this missing jet. After all this time they found nothing. Not even a floating object.

I still maintain that the plane was landed somewhere, why, well time will tell
