Magentabaron's exploits have been well documented. His prior actions have led to many unfortunate events, including the lifetime ban of an established (if sometimes controversial) player. He is now using the PM system to harass players who post on the blacklist.

I formally ask the Administrator and Moderators to relieve our community of this player.

I also ask other players that feel as I do about Magentabaron to sign their name to this thread asking the Admin staff of this game to rid us of Magentabaron now, and in any future instance that he is able to circumvent actions taken to ban him.

Count me in, he has sent messages to squadmates of mine by viewing their profile and sending a pm saying he wanted to team kill them. He has posted on our squad thread in rude and insulting terms. He needs to go.

Listen guys, this dude is just a loser. He either failed his parents by becoming a loser or his parents failed him. Who knows who care. I have received several PMs from him also and this post is exactly what he wants. He want this publicity. For some reason he thrives on being known as the loser he is.

If I get a pm from him now i do not even look at it, I JUST ERASE IT, YOU SHOULD TO. Do not respond nor read it.

This post needs to be removed immediately and his IP address needs to be banned permanently. All communication with this loser should be ignored and simply erased.

For note, an IP ban is not the Holy Grail. Your home IP is generally dynamically assigned by your ISP, so it can change from time to time. And, of course, you could jump on someone else's network ... public hotspot, neighbor who leaves their wifi open, etc. So an IP ban being the death sentence .. not so much.

Well being in IT for so long I would say every thread and every post and every retaliation towards this idiot is getting him exactly what he wants. If you have ever had the pleasure to play with Magenta, from the moment he starts until he quits or whatever he spews filth and shoots blue. IMO this is unlike the other sort of team killer and potty mouth who seem to carelessly fly and shoot blue if it flies by. He is deliberate and trying to cause as much chaos as possible. So I ask you to think, to what end? What is the goal...

...to get banned...probably not
...to satisfy his boredom...maybe at the start that could be a reason but it wouldn't have continued
...to enrage the DF world as a whole and make himself infamous...yes only logical answer to me that fits his M.O.

I would bet he is a past player deciding to do what they can to retaliate at DF for some reason and some here probably have some good guesses. The important point is THIS IS WHAT HE WANTS, THIS THREAD PART OF IS HIS GOAL! Don't feed the Trolls! Don't read pms from him don't acknowledge his actions in game don't report him...treat him as if he doesn't exist...and soon he won't. If you see him in game leave, or just get out of range...but don't feed him anymore.

Thank you all for your replies. I appreciate everyone's contributions to this thread. Thank you Hansone for outlining the job at hand, and the complexity of the problems that we WILL solve.

Snidely and Davy, I carefully considered the point that you guys are making before deciding to declare this war. But, war is the means that must be used when all other options have been exhausted. I feel that that threshold has been reached and passed. Magentabaron, for whatever reason, feels like he needs attention. Sometimes the best cure for such a problem is to give the offending party exactly what they are wishing for. Magenta wants attention, and now by god he's going to get attention.

Why should the Jolly Roger be the one to undertake this task? We have the finest cross section of people (our staff and patrons) that this game has to offer. We are every age. We are mods and we are noobs. We are from all across the Earth. We are from every squad (and some from no squad). Many of our patrons are some of the brightest and most influential players in this game. Magentabaron DOES NOT STAND A CHANCE!

The way that this war will be won is by Zuperman and the Mods shutting this guy off from every angle. Every time he raises his head, it must be smashed back into the ground. The rest of us can help to accomplish this by clearly communicating our wishes and even expectations for this to happen to the Mod team, supporting our Mods in their carrying out of this process, and reporting to our Mods if and when we see Magentabaron pop back up. We will also offer any assistance and or knowledge that we may possess to our Mod team that can be used to win this war.

Thank you everyone for reading this thread, and I sincerely ask that you join us in our fight to rid our community of this destructive nuisance for good.

Manfred, I understand your wishes to not add to this guys list of accomplishments by sharing what you did, but I hate that you took it down. All of our Mods are excellent, but you were the one who most clearly bridged the gap between us (the players) and them (the admin staff of this game). You put in a ton of effort and did an excellent job as a mod. This game lost a LOT when you stepped down, and for that reason alone this guy should be given the boot. I will grant you, having you work at the Jolly Roger has been one of the best things that could happen for my "bar". But, it's a damn shame that the overall community had to lose so much for that to happen.

He immediately started another account (under the same name BTW) and continued on. ~~~°°~~~ lives and lags on. Playing as -undead- now. The --pain-- account banned just to start a new one. Even has a dogfight clan tag. May as well lift the ban on --pain-- and Magentbaron too.

We would all like to see it. We all think it should happen. I would be willing to hear arguments for the other side, if any. The other Game Troll (Mr. Squigles) was banned by Joaquin for only Two Months, however I do not believe it has been 2 months. The ban could have expired after a month.

In any case, both have a dedicated persistence to disruption of game, the exception being that this ding dong persists in the harassment of fellow forum members after a forum ban. Both need a dedicated Time Out!

Ok. Time for an update.

I received an update from one of my personal favorite mods regarding all of this. He explained a lot, but left me with several more questions that I am now waiting on an answer to.

One important answer that I will share is that he already has a Richy level ban from the game. The PM feature is still allowed in that situation though so that the person who has received the ban has an opportunity to plead their case to the administrators etc etc. I feel, as the mod I spoke to does, that it is necessary to allow this last line of communication for those who find themselves banned. Unfortunately, Magenta is exploiting this so that he can troll.


So, here is step 2 of our battle plan:
If Magenta threatens any of you guys, PLEASE save the message or take a screenshot. If it's not explicit, please post it on this thread. If it is, save it and let us know on this thread that you have it and I will tell you who to forward it to. I will also want a copy of it, so we can build up a dossier on this guy. Please do not let any threats or extremely hateful and harassing speech from this guy go unsaved.

My goal, and hopefully we can make it Dogfight Admin's goal too, is to get this guy banned from Apple/Android etc directly.

Magenta has already proved that he is going to cause trouble until he is dealt with. It looks like we are going to have to compile a large amount of evidence of his threatening and abusive behavior towards other players. This part is not as exciting as lighting our torches and beating on the mods doors, but it must be done.

We have the mods attention... Now comes the hard part. But, if we save every scrap of evidence proving that he is doing these things, we can be sure that he will bury himself.

Max, I understand your frustrations. Believe me. The answer to this is, and also any actual written threats or abuse from Stache is to compile an overwhelming amount of proof of their actions. In Mr Pringles case, the fact that he was using a bad connection as a game winning advantage is a hard thing to overcome. I see a task like effort as being about your only option to overcome that problem. The problem with task is keeping it fair minded and not seen as a witch hunt.

On the other hand, in Magenta or anyone else's case, written threats, hate speech, and verbal abuse is pretty easy to prove, and obviously going to get a fair amount of negative attention from the providers of these games. We have a great group of mods here, and Z has given us a great game, but there is nothing stopping anyone from contacting apple, android, Microsoft or whoever, and sending them 100 images of how their life and others' were threatened by another user while playing this game. I'm pretty sure they would not be impressed.

"Sir, did you contact the game administrators?" "Yes, they said they could do nothing about it". Probably an email or phone call that no one wants made... I know I don't want that call to be made. I enjoy the freedoms and access that we all have here, but if the admins don't find a way to weed out the worst of the worst, I shudder to think of how we may all lose our ability to communicate with each other here when one of the big players says control it or we can't sell it.

I believe that our Mods truly believe that if we just ignore him, that he will go away. Maybe they are right, but I don't think so. I believe they will eventually find a way to ask Magentabarons service provider to cut him off if he continues on the path that he has been taking.

He has accounts he can play on. He was never a true forum member. The forum account was an after ban creation. He can look at the forum, read it, and PM whomever he wants, unchecked. What else does he need?

I didn't mean to bring the Stache in to this. I was just giving it up as an example. I don't think its frustration any more, its realization. I think we all knew a better day for the policing of this place and want that back,but we can't have it. I know I do. I've seen it work fantastically well and I've also seen how it works now.

Like I say, I'm on board. If nothing else to see Magenta suffer the fate he deserves. I saw the reasons used for a perm ban. Magenta has met the criteria 10 times over.

I'm not necessarily saying to do it, I'm actually hoping that someone won't, mainly because of the unintended consequences that it certainly can bring on the rest of us. (For example no forum at all). But, if an effective way cannot be found to rid our little community of people like Magenta, then someone is bound to do just that. At that point, we will all suffer. I just hope that by tackling this issue head on as we are doing here, that the powers that be will see the potential outcome of this "ignore it and it will go away" outlook that has seemingly been prevailing lately, and find a way to prevent a bad future for all of us.

One sure fire way to get rid of this Magenta clown is to provide proof that he has broken the rules of his host (Apple/Android etc). If he has been threatening other players, as has been mentioned earlier on this thread, and it can be proven (that he meant it in a serious way as opposed to a "game kill") that would almost certainly be enough. We need to find this, or capture it the next time it happens, and put a 10,000 watt spotlight on it so that the mods will have something to work with.

The point of all of this is not to circumvent the mods, but rather empower them to be able to properly do their jobs and prevent guys like Magentabaron from wreaking the havoc that he has. (Not saying our mods aren't great, but we ARE having this conversation, aren't we?) It is also important that we maintain a certain atmosphere here that lets all of the future Magentas know that they will not get very far with their crap in this game.

With as many bright people as we have in this Forum and in just the Jolly Roger's readership alone, I'm convinced that if compelled to do so, we can and will find a very good solution for this problem.
