Deer
Squirrel and
Coon.
Yet to get anything, public hunting areas stink! I need to get some land of my own. I've been going two years and you barely see anything on a public hunting spot.

Public hunting areas around here get WAY over hunted. We mostly hunt private ground. Unless its ducks then we are mostly on marshes that are public hunting.

Kansas does have a walk in hunting program (wiha) . Private land owner put parts of their ground in the program and anyone can hunt. Witch a lot of the wiha ground does get over hunted but with a little scouting a hunter can do some good.

Yep. That's the problem. I live in the city and there is deer everywhere. At any given time there is deer in my yard. They should have a hunt

Jason I grew up in central Kansas...yup you guessed it ..on a farm lol. Wheat and cattle. The advantage of this was that the family owns a lot of land :woohoo: pheasant was my favorite. Live in Arizona now..so all my hunting is done at the grocery store now

Woodchucks? Are they classified as a varmint? Are they destructive in some way? We have them around here and other than damaging low bumpers I haven't seen any issues with them. Not judging, just curious...

Yesterday, a guy i know slaughtered two of his lambs (just under a year old, but full sized) and we roasted them all day, and they turned out perfect.

We call them woodchucks here... Right now I have one digging on the dyke to my pond... Thousands of dollars put into that pond. Used to be worse years ago... Farmers didn't want them in their hay fields.. Some of the holes screwed up their farm equipment.... Couple of horses with broken legs...
Had one accidently closed up in the garage last year.... You ever see what kind of damage they can do...
I am not an avid hunter anymore, but I still go from time to time.....

Edit: There is a season on woodchuck. Well kinda. Can't hunt em on sunday's . And during Deer season.... Yes some people eat them...... If you'd prefer...... Groundhog....

Ilove to shoot but i dont have the heart to end anythings life. Unless its mine or theirs. But i would still try to run first. My most common target is a bottles cap at 100yds. I shoot cans too but its not as fun as clearing the head of a bottle. Ive never shot a moving target like the disk launcher. Not skilled enough yet.

I count shotting pop can hunting. My wife had never held a gun and one day she came with me and my family target shooting. My dad gave her a single shot 22 lr and it all took off from there. Now she has a over under 20 ga and shots clays with us all the time.

I know a State Trooper whose wife can outshoot him. It probably helped that she was an Army Brat who grew up with competition shooting as a hobby. To be fair she can out shoot me also and probably you and you and you...
She is awesome to watch and rarely wastes a bullet!

I'm a long-time shooter and lifetime member of the NRA, but like Kes, I've never shot at a living being. Doubt I could pull the trigger on Bambi and Bullwinkle.

Unless of course that's the names of the gophers that are digging up my whole friggin' yard! Was thinking of an air pistol or air rifle, something that would be a non-firearm so I could legally discharge it on my property in the Federal Republic of California. There are some air rifles made especially for critter popping, but I'm a good pistol shot and that might be more sporting. And less obvious to the neighbors than a long gun with a scope lol. Anyone have ideas? The gophers are maddening.

If you can kill gophers you can kill prairie dogs. I should invite you to my place lol. Give me a moment I will post a google earth image of our pasture. I can promise you it looks like a war zone because of there dam-in holes.

Hear is my prairie dog problem or infestation as you can see.

And that would be my infestation. Its impossible to kill all of them. There seem to be around 5 million of them.
It really truly is depressing.

I mainly hunt moose, black grouse and capercaillie.
Bear and wild hog's not so often and I haven't shot any of them yet..

For bigger animals I use an Ruger mkII Rsi 30-06 with a shirestone 3-12x
For the rest an custom Sako vixen 6mm PPC with an Leopold 6,5-20x or an beretta 12 cal over under. For target shoting I use the sako or an kelbly stolle panda 6mmPPC Leopold 36x fine cross.

Wanting to get me a plott hound but the mrs sas I must wait a while and settle with our east siberian liaka for now.

Wow that's bad. We have a few around here that are fun to thin out. Looks like you need a 22-250 with a good scope.
